NFL 2008-09 Season

Colts 7, Pats 6 at the half.

BOTH teams are crazy if they don't open it up a little in the second half.

Both secondarys are in shambles!

Remember when Dennis Miller once said to the media about the Bears, Iif you want to crown them, then crown their ass!"

I guess it's time for the media to crown the Giants, since THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!

And to think, this was the most hyped game in football history a year ago...

Carolina's schedule wildly fluctuates from cupcakes to a murderers row- they have two gimmes in Oakland and Detroit, a three-game gauntlet against Atlanta, Green Bay, and a rematch with the Bucs on Monday night.

Then, they get a game against Denver's soft defense, a nice warmup for a difficult finish on the road against an angry Saints team and the Giants.
The Panthers don't play the Saints until the last week of the season so that game probably won't matter. The games that do matter are Atl, GB, TB, Den, and NYG. If the Panthers win 3 of those 5 they should win the division and be set up nicely for the playoffs.

So because the Pats went for two and MISSED, that opens the door for the Colts to go for two and they get it.

Damn you Belichick, it's Football 101 that you DON'T chase points unless you have to!

The winner of the South (IMO, it will be the Panthers) SHOULD get at least the #2 seed and a first round bye.

I know you and I made an avatar bet for Arizona/New England, but could we switch it for next week's Bills/Pats games, or is it too late to change?

Well after a needed nap, and some awful late games, thoughts on the Late Sunday Games:

1. The AFC is a mess, it's best team the Titans are mediocre at best, and the Colts and Patriots are shells of what they were even last year.

2. You can offically close the books on the NFC West, Arizona will win it.

3. The Raiders have flat out quit.

4. The Cowboys look to be the odd man out in the NFC East.

WHY would New England throw on 4th and 15?

That was a stupid decision!

They might as well go for it, they had no timeouts left. The dumb move was Sanders catching the INT, it made it a like a pooch punt.

The head scratcher was the final Pats drive, they decided to chuck the ball on every play instead of running a sideline play on the first two plays.

Charles,

as usual, you nailed it! :up

Jabbar Gaffney's drop cost them the game. With a big help from Dave Thomas' ticky tack personal foul penalty.

"We let them off the hook"

Hart,

I know it ultimately didn't factor in the outcome, BUT why the hell did Belichick go for two, early in the third quarter???

That played right into the Colts hands!

Charles,

I'm with Sabres on this one. There was too much time left to go for it on 4th and long, no timeouts notwithstanding.
