MLB 2013 Season

I'm fine with all of them except the last one:

Calls on disputed plays will be made at the MLBAM office where all games are televised.

I would rather they hire a crew of people that are in the stadium to over see the game/calls, thus making more opportunities for employment ... I think On Sight would be a much better idea ... I understand the NHL uses this idea as well, I have never liked the idea of someone elsewhere over looking the game to see if you made a mistake.
NHL should have people in place at thier arenas as well.

They say that the people in NY will be watching the game, however with them having to watch ALL the games that are going on, they won't be IN the game like someone that was there watching.

They won't be watching the games, just the plays that need review. Since they will be reviewing video there's no reason for them to be there in person.

I hate the challenge crap. I think they should have a 5th umpire in a booth at the park looking at all close plays.

I agree with you Ramy. I don't like the challenge part of it. I don't see how one play will be more important than another. I predict that will get dropped after a season or two. Managers will hate it because its another decison for them to make.
Owners, players and umpires still have to agree to this. But from what I have read they are all on board with expanded replay. A very good step in the right direction from MLB.

Reds have crawled to within 2 1/2 of first place. They have taken advantage of the poor teams and beaten up on them. Great game from Cingrani last night. He's been great and has taken Cueto's spot very nicely.

Yes, very good run they are on. They also beat a good A's team last week too. Wonder when Cueto is coming back?

100% agreed! the NHL does a superb...I say again...superb job of reviewing calls from "The War Room"! I look forward to the same from MLB.

Charlie Manuel is out as manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, and will be replaced by Ryne Sandberg, ESPN.com's Jayson Stark has confirmed.
The Phillies are holding a press conference at 2:30 p.m.
Manuel is the winningest manager in Phillies history with a 780-636 record, and led the franchise to the 2008 World Series championship, the club's first in 28 years. In 12 seasons as a manager with the Phillies and Cleveland Indians, Manuel has a record of 1,000-826.

Iggy watch:

Iggy is, as of this moment, 10 for 45 for the Tigers, or .222, and plummeting. Since the Tigers are 10 and 4 since he joined them, no one is complaining right now, but...

Iggy watch, mid-afternoon update:

Ramon Santiago, who has a career average of fewer than one home run per 80 at bats, just pinch hit for Iggy and homered. Who knows? Maybe it will work!

Not that they would want him anywhere near the Mason-Dixon line, but the Tigers are THE perfect team for Iggy. They have a lineup that can absorb a light hitting SS, especially a superior fielding one.

Still don't like it all being in one place ...

Ok, so you got a bunch of guys sitting around in NY playing cards ... suddenly a play comes up that needs review and they are gonna stop what they are doing, look at the replay and determine what is what without having any idea whats going on in the game.

They can't possibly have enough people in there to watch all of each game in case something should come up.

Along with all the other guys hitting about thier weight, or less.
They have plenty of them, Iggy will blend right in.

In 8 career starts against the Phil's, Kershaw is 0-4 with a 4.31 ERA. His worst career record vs any team.

McCarver is clueless

I'm watching the Yankee Red Sox game. Soriano attempts a steal of second and is called out. It's a close play and I'm thinking maybe he was safe. Three different replays show he was barely safe. McCarver three times says he was out. What a clueless idiot he is.

Soriano is doing a Manny Ramirez imitation in left field today. I think he is trying to show that it is possible for a guy who just drove in 18 runs in four games to still make his presence in the line-up a net loss.
