SatelliteGuys.US DishNetwork Uplink Activity Discussion - Week Ending 08/25/2007

Enjoy the obscene bit rates for MPEG4.... ;) 9477 - WSPOR is getting a whopping 17mbps.
In all seriousness, I always noticed poor quality when watching Spanish soccer and didn't know if it was a Dish issue, i.e. lack of bandwidth for that channel vs too much "action", or simply the quality of the original source video. Any ideas (anyone) ?? It was about all I watched on that channel so I can't compare to other events....

Well more channels they get on MPEG4 the better and easier it should be when the new MPEG4 Sats get going which should improve things as well.

Part of it is that European HD is run at 50hz instead of 60hz and needs to be converted. This results in a slight ghosting effect. It is not the sole cause of the poor quality. Don't forget La Liga starts this weekend.

50 vs 60 is the last thing what you should worried. Digital cameras make time stamps ( packets) and does sync by them.
Or you telling us European HD is ANALOG ?! :p

Like most other MPEG4 channels... overall softer and the colors will patch together into a slight fingerpainted look...

I'm happy to have more channels though and so look forward to History HD, with that, Discovery and Science HD... that's all that's on my dish anymore.

Thanks guys. :) Wonder what Rave will look like when it gets converted?

Dish should just remove 9428 PPVHD and put historyhd there. You'd think fox would want their channels together, not with the discovery suite
