NHL 2008-09 Season

I have always felt the Red Wings are like kids in high school who are perfect- straight A's, perfect attendance- NOTHING goes wrong.

Lidstrom is like that- he is a spoiled athlete. not in attitude, but in the "nothing ever has gone wrong for me" way.

The Central Division is basically a joke- I have long said that Detroit clinches that division by Thanksgiving- and they are the epitome of "rich getting richer."

Hossa getting "hosed" by the Pittsburgh crowd. A sweet backhand shot between the pipes just silenced them . 2-0 Red Wings.

Do you blame them? I guess not, he went to the Swedish elite team in Detroit.:D

I was hoping Orpik would of hit him so hard that he thought he was still playing in Pittsburgh.:D

Why all the hate for successful franchises?

You hate the Spurs, Red Wings, and Colts.

These are franchises that have EARNED respect, because they are consistently contending.

You know how some people tire of the same thing after years and years?

It's kind ofl like NBA fans outside of Boston probably were getting a little bored of seeing the Celtics win every year in the 1960s.

You respect their place in history and as a great team, but you want someone else to win.

I get this. I can see people getting bored of the same teams always winning.

THIS is what I take exception with. You DON'T respect the teams I mentioned, and it shines through in your posts.

I admit it.

I've been very harsh on those teams.

Colts- I was a little skeptical about Manning's MVP award. I had been supporting Kurt Warner all season, and the playoffs proved my point. Also, a lot of people were anointing them as the wild-card team that was supposed to make the big playoff run. Turns out they picked the wrong AFC Wild-Card.

Red Wings- The "bored of same teams always winning" theory strikes here. The last team other than Detroit to win the Central division was St. Louis in 2000. Since 2002, only one other team- the Stars in 2003- was the top team in the season in the West.

Spurs- Again, tired of same teams winning all the time. I get bored of seeing them consistently good year after year. Since the Jazz made back-to-back NBA Finals appearances, only one team outside of the Spurs or Lakers won the conference- the 2005-06 Mavericks.

I can tell you who is sick of the Red Wings...NBC, you would think, It was poor penguins, poor sid crosby, he was taken out of his game today and he let it show.

Everyone thought when the salary cap came the wings would be done. They have mastered the cap, and it helps when players will take less to stay with a team.

Detroit gets ALL the good players.

Success breeds jealousy.

I have no problem with jealousy or hate of a team for that matter.

It's discrediting a team (because you don't like them) that's been very successful, by calling them lucky is what I have the problem with.

I don't think I will ever watch the NHL on NBC anymore. I don't even care if the Flyers are on this week. I can't stand Doc Emerick. I hate NBC and I hate Versus, always the same goddamn teams from the East.

It's better that NBC sticks with 1 game, so I can still see all the other games on NHL Center Ice instead of NBC taking up the entire day so other games can't be televised in that window.

Well, it was the same type of thing when the NHL was with ESPN, I think Pittsburgh was on 3 nights a week ...

"it helps when players will take less to stay with a team"

Or take less to come to a team think Hossa.
From reports from HNIC Hot Stove and the Detroit TV broadcast that Hossa wants to come back next year.
Now there must be some reason for this attitude because so far all the players who signed for more years in Detroit have taken less than they could have gotten on the free agent market.
So all you who put down Detroit it is not luck that Detroit stays good it Kenny H and the supporting cast that he has who help him come up with deals not to mention the owners who must be among the best in all the pro leagues.
