NHL 2008-09 Season

LOL. You need some serious stones to hang with all the slingin' that goes on in the AFC North debates. :D

Sorry to hijack the thread. Onto NHL... How 'bout them Blue Jackets!

They're playing the Pens in a couple days, they will probably win, the Pens have self destructed.:(

Good games tonight...

7:00 Boston - Philadelphia

Could be a letdown for Boston. Oh wait, that was last night's game in Philly. ;)

7:30 Phoenix - Detroit

The race in the west for the last four playoff spots could be bizarre. Not out of the question 11 teams will be fighting for 4 spots.

7:30 Toronto - Buffalo

First game back for the Sabres after a long road trip. Luckily, it's against the Leafs.

8:00 Anaheim - Minnesota

The Ducks think the referees are picking on them. You have to worry when a team starts this early with the excuses.

The Bruins win in Philly 3-1, and are now 38-8-6.

They are running away with the #1 seed in the East with 82 points (now 12 ahead of #2 Washington).

The Bruins lead the overall standings, San Jose is #2 with 77 points (but the Sharks have played 4 less games).

Really?

I always thought Bruins fans wanted to avoid the Habs in the playoffs.

Not this year.

The Bruins are 4-0-1 against Montreal, but have lost two to Buffalo.

Of the Bruins eight regulation losses, they have lost two each to Buffalo, Washington and Minnesota.

Besides, the Canadiens are a very unlikely first round opponent (they'll probably finish anywhere from 4-6 in the East), the Sabres on the other hand.....................

I think Buffalo will likely be the seventh seed and be a lamb led to the Washington Capitals' slaughter.

Boston, IMO, will face either Pittsburgh or Florida in the first round.

I agree with your seedings, except I see Pittsburgh or Carolina getting the #8 seed.

Can you believe Detroit had to use diving skills to draw that late penalty that led to their winning goal over Phoenix?

Hossa clearly took a dive on that late hook.

Jimbo, Wozniak- KARMA IS A BITCH! Your mighty Wings will pay for their actions!

Just what exactly is it that the Sabres rule?

CLUE - Not the NHL. Maybe not in your lifetime.

Getting this thread back on track...

Sandra said:"The Ducks think the referees are picking on them. You have to worry when a team starts this early with the excuses."

As a Ducks fan, the team has no one to blame but themselves for taking silly, mindless penalties ad nauseaum. And this goes back to about the middle of last season. Top that with a team that has never really found its identity this season and you have a team that will barely make the playoffs...if at all.

Talk is that if things don't imporve Pronger may get dealt. That would be heavenly for me. He has been one of the reasons the Ducks have such a bad rep with nasty hits and penalties. Some of it is deserved, some of it is not. But, I for one would welcome Pronger's departure sooner than later.
