NFL 2008-09 Season

Monday Morning QB: HD MM's thoughts

1. When Derek Anderson is good, he's very good. When he's bad, he can sink entire seasons.

2. The 'Boys have hit a new low, losing to the lowly Rams. Maybe Romo should've taken Favre's advice and played through his pinkie injury. Brad Johnson's 3 INT's isn't the only reasons why the 'Boys lost, but it sure didn't help.

3. Kudos to Herm Edwards in benching star RB, Larry Johnson for "violating team rules". Jerry Jones on the other hand waited for the Commissioner to step in on the latest Pacman issue. Shame on you Dallas.

4. The Saints were finally starting to get back some healthy bodies, and now the injury to Reggie Bush! Supposedly, he'll be out for a while as he undergoes arthroscopic surgery on his knee. The Saints will miss him.

5. How about Trent Edwards! He returned from a concussion by going 25-30 for 261 yards, a TD and a win over the Chargers! What a recovery!

6. How about Sea-Bass kicking a 57-yard game winning field goal to put the Raiders past the Jets?! Wow.

7. Besides the Steelers/Giants week 8 game, the Steelers/Titans week 16 game is shaping up to be a goodie too.

8. Is Jim Haslett really the difference in the Rams play these last two weeks? Suddenly this team looks inspired.

9. Should the Brady Quinn era start next week in Cleveland? If one thing can be determined so far, it's that DA has proven to be inconsistent. Why not see what we have in our coveted Notre Dame cover boy?

10. The Patriots declining defense against Denver's high-octane offense will be interesting tonight. The dueling of coaches Belichick vs. Shanahan will also be intriguing.

I was just glancing at the standings, and realized that the AFC is in shambles!

I realize that it's still fairly early, but we could have two 9-7 teams make the playoffs in the AFC this year. Only Kansas City (1-5) and Cincinnati (0-7) are pretty much out of it.

Standings going into tonight's Broncos-Pats game:

Division leaders:

Tennessee...... 6-0
Pittsburgh....... 5-1
Buffalo............ 5-1
Denver........... 4-2

Wildcard contenders:

New England..... 3-2
NY Jets.......... 3-3
Baltimore.......3-3
Indianapolis..... 3-3
Jacksonville..... 3-3
San Diego..... 3-4
Miami............ 2-4
Cleveland..... 2-4
Houston....... 2-4
Oakland....... 2-4

The ONLY team talented enough from the 2-4 teams to make the playoffs is the Browns. The rest, including my Raiders do not have the talent to make it...

DAZE OF OUR LIONS

If nothing else my Lions are consistent. With the exception of last week, they have managed to start every game this season 21-0! Yesterday they gave up 20 first downs in the first half alone. Marinelli's favorite saying is "pound the rock". I think the team thought he said "pound your *ock", because that's what the team looks like they're doing. Houston did show us a new offensive play, though. It's called "throw the ball to the receiver that isn't covered by a Lion defender in 5 yds." Marinelli promises to put in the playbook as soon as he can find players to execute it.

Don't be fooled by the final score, the Lions were never in this game. Hell, they're not even in this season. This is the most pathetic football team I have ever seen, and that includes 51 seasons of football. The Tampa Bay team that started their existence with 24 straight losses would have given these guys a beatdown.

BREAKING NEWS (per ESPN): Niners plan to fire Mike Nolan after next Sunday's game.

Mike Singletary to take over.

After what I saw from K.C.'s running defense, how many rushing yards will Thomas Jones have next week? 200-210?

And what about L.T. when K.C. goes to San Diego?

Hell, Reggie Bush could rack up 200 against the Chiefs!

HD MM was jacked up beyond belief for last Monday night's game.

Bill, how jacked up are you for this game?

There was so much emotion on this thread for last week's game; could this be a bit of a change?

I'm pretty pumped.

It's pretty hard for me to believe that the Pats would come out flat........after that pathetic performance last Sunday night!

My random thoughts on today's action:

1. The Indianapolis Colts are in big trouble. They're not clicking on offense, can't stop the run, and have tons of injuries. And they have to go on the road to face a phenomenal running team in the Titans on the road... on a Monday night, no less? I'm calling for a BLOWOUT- the Colts will get CRUSHED!

2. The Browns may have lost, but they showed more heart than the Cowboys did- that is not an easy field goal. 54 yards? I couldn't make that if I had a thousand tries.

3. Seattle is in for a long season.

4. St. Louis, if they can stay hot, may be the only threat to challenge Arizona in the NFC West

5. Whoda thunk that Vikings/Bears would be a shootout?

6. Kyle Orton is a BEAST! Grossman was clearly holding back the Bears- if Orton had been their QB in 2006, they win the Super Bowl, IMO.

7. Next week's Giants/Steelers game, IMO, will be this year's first 'big game,' like Patriots/Cowboys, Patriots/Colts, and Packers/Cowboys were last year.

8. Kansas City, IMO, may have used up all their energy this year on beating Denver. After what I saw today, they may not win again. Can't wait for that Chiefs/Raiders game- loser drafts #4!

6. Kyle Orton was thier QB, till they thought Grossman could do better, they were 7-0 when they took him out, wasn't that '06 ?

The Titans look TOUGH this year. Goes to show you, that if you can run the ball and play defense, you will have success in this league. The Titans do both well. Both LenDale White and Chris Johnson will run all over that porous Indy run defense next week.

2. The Browns may have lost, but they showed more heart than the Cowboys did- that is not an easy field goal. 54 yards? I couldn't make that if I had a thousand tries. "WIDE RIGHT"! I'm sure Buffalo fans can relate to that famous call. ;)

3. Seattle is in for a long season. That they are.

4. St. Louis, if they can stay hot, may be the only threat to challenge Arizona in the NFC West. Let's not get crazy now.

5. Whoda thunk that Vikings/Bears would be a shootout? Shocking, I know.

6. Kyle Orton is a BEAST! Grossman was clearly holding back the Bears- if Orton had been their QB in 2006, they win the Super Bowl, IMO. The Bottle is indeed playing well right now. What great strides this guy has made since years previous.

7. Next week's Giants/Steelers game, IMO, will be this year's first 'big game,' like Patriots/Cowboys, Patriots/Colts, and Packers/Cowboys were last year. Should be a good one, but like the Pats/Colts game last year, Cleveland will probably be without that game as the Browns play the Jags at 4pm too!

8. Kansas City, IMO, may have used up all their energy this year on beating Denver. After what I saw today, they may not win again. Can't wait for that Chiefs/Raiders game- loser drafts #4! Despite what records indicate, the Chiefs are the WORST team in the league. Both the Raiders and Bungles will demolish this team.

7. This means Toledo will also NOT get the Steelers game ....
Thank God for the ST.
As the rest of the country can watch it on network TV.

8. KC the worst ???? :haha:haha:haha:haha
You've got to be kidding.
Have you seen the Lions play ?

HD MM,
Aern't you glad you didn't trade Brady over the off season after everyone was giving DA the keys to the hall of fame ?
