ESPN - Oakland Raiders expected to release Pro Bowl CB DeAngelo Hall on Wednesday

He couldn't even make it through one season? At least the other high-profile Bay Area CB- Nate Clements- has still managed to keep his job in San Francisco!

Done deal...he is gone and good riddence! But, he will scooped up immediately and AT THE SAME PRICE!

The DeAngelo Hall experiment is over after one costly half-season.

The Raiders waived the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback after eight games Tuesday. The stunning move is designed to cut the team's financial losses before Hall makes any more money, a team source told The Chronicle. That means Hall will have made $8 million for eight games while the Falcons got a second-round draft pick in their offseason trade with Oakland.

Hall's agent, Alvin Keels, declined comment when reached by phone. The Raiders did not make any announcement.

Why release Hall with eight games to play?

Hall admittedly struggled to adapt to the Raiders' style of man-coverage defense, enough so that Raiders owner Al Davis decided he'd seen enough. Hall is due $16.5 million next season in injury-guaranteed bonuses. Davis would rather take that money and load up a long-term contract offer for cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, according to a league source familiar with the situation.

Raiders waive Hall, lose $8 million

Dude, Steelers fans don't travel. When you see Steelers fans in another city's stadium, those are people that LIVE there. Piss and black fans are everywhere!

Of course...... it's easy to root for a team that's gone 39 years without a record worse than 5-11. If they started losing every year like the team I root for, you wouldn't see people painting their mailboxes any more.

Sure some are transplanted fans, but there are a lot that travels with the team, especially in those cities that are near Pittsburgh.

Hell if you want to see the Pens, your best chance to get a ticket is go to Washington.

Read these quotes this morning, thought they were worth sharing.

- Mike Penner, L.A. Times, on whether Oakland should be interested in Michael Vick nest season: "Why not give him a shot? As it was Sunday, Vick, sitting in a prison cell, netted only 10 fewer yards passing than the Raiders managed against the Falcons."

- Mike Bianchi, Orlando Sentinel: "Can you believe Daunte Culpepper came out of retirement to try out for the Lions? Isn't that sort of like breaking back into prison?"

Awesome!!! I love when Enberg calls Pats games. :up

As you remember two non-Brady and Belichick AFC Championship games (Orange Bowl streak buster, and the freezing-cold game against the Jags)

He, Paul McGuire, and Phil Simms were the best announcing crew ever for AFC games- too bad NBC lost the rights to CBS.

I miss the days of NBC on Sunday afternoons.

I liked Enberg/Merlin Olsen better.

Tonight is the debut of Thursday night NFL Football and also the long anticipated debut of Cleveland Browns' prized '07 draft pick, Brady Quinn! Hurray! :D

This is a huge game for two teams playing on short rest and coming off disappointing losses on their home fields. The Broncos remain atop the weak AFC West, and the Browns, teetering on the brink, simply can't afford another loss (especially at Browns Stadium).

With the [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10466"]Brady Quinn Profile - Denver Broncos - ESPN[/ame] era under way in Cleveland, offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski must take advantage of a faltering Denver run defense to place Quinn in the best position to make plays in the passing game. The Broncos hope to get their offense back on track against a suspect Browns secondary. The third phase could be critical to the outcome of this game.

I'm predicting a high scoring affair that puts the Big 12 to shame.

Let the tailgating begin!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

As bad as the Raiders are, they are not the worst team in their own division. Hard to believe.

Let me guess- you'll be at the game.

Not this time Sabres. I will be at home, tailgating at the house prior to the game though. The forecast is calling for a sunny day with a high of 70°F! That is very warm for this time of the year. Kick-off temps should be perfect!

Hopefully, that trend works out. As I previously noted, the Browns are 0-2 in games you've attended this year.

BTW, given how Denver couldn't stop the run against K.C. two months ago, could Jamal Lewis possibly replicate his 200-yard day from last year against the Bengals?

I know. I can't remember the last Browns game I attended that they actually won. The only game I went to last year, was the season opener against the Stoolers. Needless to say, we lost that game miserably. I will do the Browns a favor tonight and stay home. :)

And as for Lewis, I can see him having a huge game. He's due for a big game.

This reminds me of the Red Sox lack of success when I'm in attendance at Fenway.

The Sox are well below .500 when I'm in the stands!

The Mighty Quinn

There is a version of this song on the local radio stations with revised lyrics to the 1967 song written by Bob Dylan. (Recorded by Manfred Mann)

Upon searching the origins of this appropriately titled song, which holds strange relevance to the new Cleveland Browns QB, I came up with this.....

From Wiki:

"Quinn the Eskimo (The Mighty Quinn)" is a 1967 folk-rock song written and first recorded by Bob Dylan.

The song is a tale with vaguely psychedelic lyrics. The subject of the song is the arrival of the mighty Quinn (an eskimo), who changes despair into joy and chaos into rest, and attracts attention from the animals. The metaphorical lyrics have prompted suggestions that Quinn is God, a drug dealer, or simply a village elder.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::D:D:D

HD MM's interpretation:

"Arrival of the mighty Quinn" (as in Brady?)
"changes despair into joy" (Turns losing franchise back into a winner?)
"attracts attention from the animals" (as in attracting the harsh criticism away from the Cleveland Dawgs?)
"Quinn is a god" (My God, what the hell does Cleveland have here!?)
