NCAA Basketball 2008-09 Season

I disagree that at NC State is a lock. They have been playing much better lately. BC may still win it but it isn't a lock. State has won two in a row (including one over Wake) and lost at Virgina Tech in overtime or they would've won 3 conference games in a row.

I agree. Also, the game at Miami will be a very tough game for the Eagles to win.

The Canes already beat BC handily in Chestnut Hill.

IMO, it's imperative for the Eagles to win their two home games, just so they don't have to sweat winning a game or two in the ACC Tournament.

UNC hangs on to beat a very game Miami squad.

I'm calling it right now: The Heels will run the table all the way to the National Championship! Mark it down.

As we all know, Hansbrough broke the UNC scoring record in December against Evansville.

Well, here's something interesting: the guy who was guarding Psycho T when he made the record-breaking bankshot was James Haarsma.

That's my sister's boyfriend!

Bill, who do you see filling the other three spots at Ford Field? Somebody would have to be there for the coronation!

Very tough win for UNC tonight. Miami's zone did a tremendous job on Hansbrough, Jack McClinton was a super stud and Ty Lawson was very sick which limited his up tempo pace. But through all of that they managed to hang on and win. I don't care how this game looked. I'll take any win at Miami in this scenario.

Good call. That was a clutch win. Miami is a tough team and Jack McClinton is just sick. The Canes have a hole to dig out of now that they are 4-7 in the ACC, but they can do it.

Carolina's starting to pull away from the pack. 9 straight wins now. If we get Zeller back forget about it.

Got that right.

It kind of impossible to predict until the brackets come out, but I'll give it a whirl:

North Carolina
UConn
Wake Forest
Marquette

It will be an ACC/Big East challenge! :D

Good choices, with Marquette a real eye-opener- Tom Creen's decision to leave the Golden Eagles for Indiana is looking more and more like a bad choice.

BTW, here are MY Final Four picks:

UNC
Pittsburgh
Oklahoma
UConn

For the first time since 2003, a conference will have TWO Final Four teams.

How fitting is it that the guy whe hit the tie-breaking shot for B.C. against Duke was named Reggie Jackson?

Think about it- a guy with the same name as one of baseball's greatest clutch players hit a clutch shot.

I agree. Miami has the type of team that could string three wins together in the ACC Tournament. Especially with a player like McClinton.
Nobody will want to play Miami in March. I was screaming at Miami last week to get the ball more to McClinton when they were playing dook. They didn't get it to him enough and lost in OT. Tonight I was just praying he'd miss. That guy is a stud.

Only THIS time he helped a Boston team.............not hurt them!

You better play with some swagger if you're named Reggie Jackson. What a perfect night. Carolina wins a close game and dook loses....AGAIN! :D It's open season now on dook. Everyone they have left could beat them. They'll be lucky to finish with 10 wins in the ACC.

It's open season now on dook.

I am ready to make another one of my patented bold predictions (I picked the Browns to beat the Giants, Texas Tech to beat Texas, and the Arizona Cardinals to get to the Super Bowl).

Duke will LOSE to St. John's (alma mater of this site's resident hottie).

I would love to see that come true, but I don't know if I can call that. St. John's is awful. I forgot about that one. I meant it's open season in the ACC. dook will probably have more fans in the Garden that St. John's will, but as always, I wish them the worst. :D

Up to date ACC Standings:

North Carolina..................9-2
Duke.................................7-4
Clemson...........................6-4
Wake Forest....................6-4
Florida St.........................6-4
Virginia Tech....................6-4
Boston College................7-5
Maryland.........................5-5
NC State.........................4-6
Miami..............................4-7
Virginia...........................2-8
Georgia Tech.................1-10

Man, what a logjam of teams with 4/5 losses! The next three weeks will be critical for NCAA resumes, as well as seeding for the ACC Tourney. The all important 2,3 and 4 seeds are for the taking (and with it a first round bye in the tournament).
