I think this defines selling out. Everyone knows that Xavier is a stepping stone job, but to leave for a school that has no talent coming back next year and has already been rejected by no less than 6 other coaches? Miller could have done better than this and had he stayed at Xavier and kept winning his stock would have only gotten higher.
There's always someone else. Arizona's not that attractive right now.[/B]
And then what? How many top-tier programs better than Arizona have job openings? How many will next year?
Carolina is consistent because they recruit well year after year. Arizona hasn't recruited well in several years. They're losing all their top players and have no one good coming in. And they haven't been that good recently anyway. Arizona might finish dead last in the Pac 10 next year and even with some rebuilding they might only be the 5th or 6th best team in the conference. Miller could have stayed at Xavier, had another nice team next year, and then wait and see what opens up. Almost anything else would be better than what Arizona's facing. And Miller hasn't shown that he can recruit with the likes of Calipari so signing 5 McDonald's All Americans overnight is unlikely. Why? These guys have been in the NCAA's almost as long as you have been alive. They're going to lose a few players, but which program isn't? You guys put at least 3 into the NBA every year, and yet "here you are" in the championship game.
how sweet it is! North Carolina ncaa men's basketball champions 2008-2009.
And thus ends another great college hoops season.
It was one of the most intriguing and entertaining seasons, with many great stories:
The ranking of #1 going around like a hot potato
The dominance of Blair, Griffin, and others
The Syracuse/UConn six overtime thriller
His older brother graduates this year. If not for his brother, he would have left after his freshman year. This year was a gift for the Sooner fans, and we appreciate it.NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - It appears Oklahoma sophomore Blake Griffin has made his decision regarding the NBA draft.
Griffin and Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel will hold a news conference Tuesday afternoon at which time the AP player of the year is expected to announce whether he will enter the draft.
Most experts believe the 6-foot-10 forward would be the first pick in the draft on June 25.
Underclassmen have until April 26 to declare for the draft and until June 15 to withdraw.
Griffin led the Sooners to a 30-6 season, averaging 22.7 points and a nation-leading 14.4 rebounds.
Seriously. There was never any reason for Griffin to play at Oklahoma except that he was from there. Bob Stoops usually has to get in his car and drive down to Texas to get good players. Jeff Capel just had to look out his window to get Griffin. His older brother graduates this year. If not for his brother, he would have left after his freshman year.
