Barry Bonds

Well, now that 715 is out of the way, 755 is the only thing people will pay attention to him for (unless some new steroid allegation comes out), so he can relax a bit.

I don't see how he gets to 755, He won't hit 40 more this year, and I don't know if he's going to keep going after this year. I think if they keep walking him as much as they do, and he's within 20, he'll come back. Why not, he came off of major knee problems and could still hit HR's, and obviously he has total control of when he plays and he's not using a lot of energy to walk to first base...

The mind boggles...

They said his current pace puts him at mid-2008 season to get to 755 so I am with you, no chance really. I have always thought Babe was his only real target (in his mind) that he HAD to pass.

IF I am not mistaken, his contract ends in 2007. Rumors has it, if he is close, he may sign with Oakland his final year, play DH to break the record...but I agree, his sights were never on Aaron.....just Ruth.

It has turned out somewhat like the NBA's hack-a-shaq/ben. They now need a rule of punishment like the NBA, saying if you are not at x runs, or its not yet 7th inning or later then you get x punishment; like -

send the intentionally walked to 3rd base (i like this one)
or
send him to 2nd and put another runner on 1st automatically
or
the defense receives one less out on their next at bat
or
something!

Obviously you failed reading comprehension. Again, why would they be conducting a perjury investigation if he had already admitted that he had taken steroids. No one has established that what he used was actually steroids, and Greg Anderson hasn't said that he gave Bonds steroids. You're taking two pieces of circumstantial evidence and coming to a conclusion that hasn't been proven. It's people like you who railroad people right to jail. So according to your logic, Einstein, the perjury investigation is to prove that he lied when he admitted to taking them? Un-effin'-believable! He may have taken them, and all the hearsay, innuendos, and circumstantial evidence seem to indicate that he may have. But in this society, we don't (or at least most of us) don't convict on may have. Admitting that he used a cream and a clear substance given to him by someone who's been indicted in a steroid-distribution ring is not the same as saying, "I used a cream and a clear substance containing steroids," no matter how much you want it to be. Why in the hell do you think he's still playing now? If they'd had an admission of guilt, there would be no perjury investigation, and Selig would have already suspended him. Don't let your hatred for the man cloud your ability to see the actual facts of the case.

How can you be so dense? The investigation is simply to prove that he was lying when he said he didnt know what he was taking.http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/04/14/sports/base.php

<!--StartFragment -->" Bonds was granted immunity when he testified before the Balco grand jury in December 2003, as long as he told the truth. According to excerpts from the testimony previously reported by The San Francisco Chronicle, Bonds testified that he used a clear substance and a cream given to him by a trainer who later pleaded guilty in a steroid-distribution ring, but said he didn't know they were steroids."

<!--StartFragment -->"The substances Bonds described were similar to ones known as "the clear" and "the cream," two steroids at the center of the Balco scandal. Investigators seized calendars that recorded schedules for Bonds's use of those drugs, as well as human growth hormone, clomid, insulin and other steroids, according to The Chronicle. "

Anyone but a 3 year old and yourself knows this. So he is being investigated for lying and cheating, two things that go hand in hand. The idea, and defense of this drug savy individual that "he didnt know what he was taking" is utterly moronic.

He won't go to oakland, the area would probably turn on him and that's his last "cheering" section, in the bay. If you're so broken down that you can't run, you should hang it up. He's not loved enough to get the sympathy to continue trying to hit HR's...Besides, if he can't run, what's he going to do when he hits a HR?? Doesn't count until you run the bases...

He's said he doesn't want to break aaron's record, but wants a series ring. There's no way that happens with that team right now so he might as well just retire at the end of the year. I'd say go now but that screws with the team, can't do that...

Bonds is on his last year of the contract with the Giants. It doesn't look like they will resign him but rumor has it that the Angels want him at DH. He lives in the LA area now so it would make sense. Personally, I don't see it happening. He will retire at the end of the season.

I disagree 100% with all those who are accepting Barry Bond's false accomplishments. He has admitted using the steroids but tries to deflect responsibility by claiming he didn't know they were steroids. You would have to be a total idiot to believe his story and I believe baseball or congress should come down hard on him after the investigation. Shoeless Joe and Pete Rose could have lied like Barry to avoid penalty but they were held accountable and Barry should be too. He will be judged for lieing to the grand jury and to the American public as was another arrogant person named Martha.

Pete Rose did lie until last year. People still think he should be in the hall of fame though.

But betting on baseball didnt increase his hits. He could have changed the outcome of games and thats really bad and deserves the ban. I just dont really came about Bary the baseball player or person. To me anything he does I just ignore. Did he do something great?

Pete bet against his own team.

I LOVE judging people!!! You too? Doesn't it just make you feel that much better than them?

There was proof that he bet on baseball and his team, I don't remember them stating there was proof he bet AGAINST the REDS

Thats a hard one isnt it. You would think it would make him work harder (bet on Reds to win) but in the end, its pretty messed up.

Pete Rose should be in the Hall, and so should barry.

We still to this day don't know what was in that cream that barry used. Sure we assume steroids but we don't know that. Bodybuilders are twice barry's size and they don't have to use steroids to do it. Steroids are just supplements that are so strong that they cause side-effects. Barry could very well be perfectly clean, and since he's never failed a test, it kind of vindicates him.
