Hmmm, I think it was Antonio Gates that was a COLLEGE basketball player and he had a pretty good career in the NFL as a TE ....
and james was also a pretty good high school football player. its not common to see a player be good at two sports at the pro level. we can name a few but not many. and most of time their careers are cut short. i know salsa can name one ;)

Charlie Ward played both basketball and football in college.

Dave Winfield played basketball, football, and baseball

Most of the guys listed here are football players who are so athletic they also happened to be playing basketball. Not sure Lebron James fits into that category.

Danny's summer job was shortstop for the Blue Jays.
right. we're basically talking about players who played more than one sport at the professional level. good list guys. theres a name or two there i didn't know.....

Danny's summer job was shortstop for the Blue Jays, while he was still going to BYU.

Actually, Ainge chose baseball over basketball when he came out of college...but he was such an anemic hitter in MLB he changed his mind and left baseball for basketball.

That doesn't make my statement incorrect. He played pro baseball while still playing college basketball.

Absolutely. You spoke of his time at BYU, I spoke of what happened after BYU. That crazy end to end drive Ainge made against Notre Dame for the winning basket in the tournament was going to be his lasting final winning impression on basketball...until he changed his mind and decided to leave the Blue Jays for the Celtics.

And that was the right choice for him. His legacy is basketball. Baseball is just a footnote in his biography.

Back to football, I still cannot get over the report about Brandon Lloyd being on the trading block. The guy was their leading WR last year, if I am not mistaken.

IMO, they took a huge risk in getting rid of Cutler, trading UP for Tebow, trading Marshall and now they wanna trade Lloyd?

Wow...
