Zack Snyder will direct a 'Justice League' movie to follow 'Batman vs. Superman'

More Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Details Revealed http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/batman-superman-dawn-justice-details-revealed/
Empire’s cover story on next year’s superhero blockbuster Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was chock-full of new photos and information about what’s surely the most anticipated film of 2016 (all necessary apologies to Finding Dory fanatics), and thanks to Batman-News, we’ve now been able to sort through every sentence of that magazine’s story to pull out some very interesting tidbits. It was already known that Wonder Woman was beginning to shoot this fall and that Justice League was set to begin filming next spring, but the story indicates that pre-production on the latter film is already well underway.Additionally, the piece confirms Zack Snyder’s status as the linchpin in Warner Bros.’ DC Extended Universe. Along with his producer and wife Deborah Snyder and producer Charles Roven, Snyder is overseeing the entire cinematic universe and even has a whiteboard in his office with the whole DCEU sketched out.According to the story, it was originally Snyder’s idea to put Batman in a Man of Steel sequel, and when the director told The Dark Knight helmer Christopher Nolan what the plan was for Batman V Superman, Nolan was “taken aback” but supportive. It would certainly be interesting to hear that conversation, given how acclaimed Nolan’s take on the Caped Crusader was compared to the mixed critical reception Man of Steel received.

'Batman vs. Superman' Movie Spoilers: Scoot McNairy's Mystery Role Revealed With A Major Twist http://www.idigitaltimes.com/batman...irys-mystery-role-revealed-major-twist-463586
Another character’s identity from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice may have leaked online.Heroic Hollywood reports actor Scoot McNairy will play Jimmy Olsen, a friend of Superman’s with a “twist.” Check out what Heroic Hollywood’s insider had to say about McNairy’s Batman vs. Superman movie character below:Last year a website called The Devils Eyes claimed that the actor is playing Jimmy Olsen, a well recognized character from the comics who is an investigative reporter and photo-journalist at the Daily Planet, as well as friend of Superman, but with an interesting twist. The character was present during the Black Zero event and lost his legs after they were pinned under falling building rubble. According to our sources, that information is indeed accurate.Another interesting development in the Batman vs. Superman production is the latest scoop regarding Jena Malone’s potential character. The Latino Review reports Malone will play Barbara Gordon in the upcoming movie. Whether Barbara will be Oracle or Batgirl in the movie is unknown, but the timeline would suggest Oracle, especially if Jason Todd is the owner of the Robin costume in the Batcave.

Armie Hammer On Nearly Playing Batman And Abandoned Justice League Movie http://news.yahoo.com/armie-hammer-on-nearly-playing-batman-and-092155455.html
Miller wanted to cast younger actors as DC Comics’ a-list stars, hoping they would grow into the characters and the man set to play Batman was a young Armie Hammer. Hammer went on to be a star thanks to a breakout performance (or performances if you wish) in ‘The Social Network’ and now in 60s spy caper ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E’.While promoting the film Hammer spoke to film critic Robbie Collin, who was filling in for Mark Kermode on BBC Five Live’s flagship film programme. Collin asked Hammer what happened.“We had done camera test and were, I think, a week away from starting to shoot when the Australian writers strike happened,” he said. “Then there was a change in government policy in Australia where they changed their tax rebate system, so I think we were supposed to get 40% back of what was then going to be, I think, about a $300 million movie - it was going to be one of the largest movies Warner Bros ever made.

It looks like we’re stuck with Affleck as Batman for at least three more movies https://www.yahoo.com/tech/s/looks-stuck-affleck-batman-least-three-more-movies-203213720.html
In order to compete with the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC is hosting an explosive event of its own next year by pitting two heroes against each other in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. This is the film that will open up DC’s own movie universe, but going forward, Batman may play an even larger role than we’d previously assumed.Industry sources told Den of Geek on Friday that after a recent screening of a “near finished cut” of Batman v Superman, Warner Bros. executives were so impressed with Ben Affleck’s performance that they began working on a deal that would see Affleck star in two additional standalone Batman movies on top of the one he has already been confirmed to be writing and directing.“Basically, [Warner Bros. are] now working their movie universe around Ben’s Batman,” the source said.
That stinks imo I was hoping a 1 and done for Affleck and then go with a younger Batman!! :)

'Batman v Superman' And Why Early Screening Reports Need To Be Taken With A Grain Of Kryptonite http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayl...-be-taken-with-a-grain-of-kryptonite-20150811
Late last week, Den Of Geek reported that according to their source, a not-quite finished version of "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice" screened on the Warner Bros. lot and received a "standing ovation" from those in attendance. In fact, the movie was so good, that the studio was reportedly looking to ink Ben Affleck to a three-picture Batman deal. Villain Smash debunked that report with a fairly level-headed take on Affleck's current slate at WB, and his role in the larger DC universe for the time being. However, this recent rumor is a good reminder that, like early tracking numbers, very early test screening reports tend to be inaccurate and/or hyperbolic.I recently spent a bit of time digging around test screening reports of yore, and the results are pretty eye-opening. Big claims have been made about movies months before they've opened that often don't quite pan out. Let's start with Zack Snyder's "Man Of Steel," which five months before it opened was called by one source from a test screening "the best movie of the year" with others reporting they had heard the film was "the ass-kicking, action-packed and heartfelt Superman movie you can’t wait to see." Of course, the final film largely wasn't embraced that way by the fan boy set or critics.

‘Batman V Superman': Wonder Woman’s Fight Scene Revealed? http://screenrant.com/batman-v-superman-wonder-woman-fight-scene-doomsday/
Besides the titular heroes of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice facing-off on the big screen, one thing fans of DC Comics and the emerging DC Extended Universe want to see is the first movie appearance of Wonder Woman, who will be played by Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious). Wonder Woman will get her own movie in 2017, but the most recent Batman V Superman trailer confirmed that we will first get to see her in action in that film – not just looking gorgeous in party dress, trading sultry looks with Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne. After months of rumors about why, exactly Wonder Woman suits up in armor and draws a sword to do battle, comes yet another rumor to echo the growing chorus of claims about Dawn of Justice’s climatic showdown. And if you’ve been a longtime follower of this movie, it’s pretty much what you’d expect.

Henry Cavill Reveals He Was Bullied For Being Overweight http://news.yahoo.com/henry-cavill-reveals-he-was-bullied-for-being-193800718.html
Superman and all round Hollywood hunk, Henry Cavill has spoken out about being bullied as a teenager for being overweight, saying “They used to call me Fat Cavill”.You wouldn’t think it to look at him now but the 32-year-old actor used to be teased mercilessly for his weight telling Men’s Fitness, “I actually had rolls of fat on me.”They also called me a ‘lemon’, a guy who gets nowhere with the girls.’ He added.Seriously?Nowadays the actor is more likely to be flexing his pecks as Superman or looking dapper in a sharp suit on the red carpet, but like most teenagers he didn’t have things easy at school. He previously admitted to Event magazine that he was picked on because he was an easy target, “There was nothing physical, I was a chubby kid but I wasn’t a weakling”.I could have stood up for myself in that department. It was name-calling, and kids do that. So I comfort ate.” He explained. He also admitted that it takes a lot of work to maintain his chiselled physic saying he’s always been an “indulger”. In preparation for his role in Man of Steel, Henry endured a gruelling physical routine and was reportedly reduced to a diet of 1800 calories a day.“The production hired a trainer to work with me’, he said. “I’ve always been physical but I’m not always in the gym. In pre-production I was knackered all the time.”Well, it certainly seems to have paid off.

‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Star Henry Cavill Says Warner Bros Has Big Plans For DC Franchise http://www.ibtimes.com/batman-v-sup...ill-says-warner-bros-has-big-plans-dc-2051688
Henry Cavill, who plays Superman (Clark Kent) in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” recently spoke about the future plans of Warner Bros. The actor said that the production house has plans to expand the DC universe.“There’s a big plan in place at WB for the whole DC franchise. So, all of this stuff ties in. They’re not thinking from movie to movie, they’re thinking from a big tent pole type thing and each story has its own story, which is attached to the major issue. Yeah, there’s a big plan,” Cavill said.He also hinted that there are lot of scenes in the film which have direct reference to “Man of Steel.” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be followed by a Justice League film to expand the DC universe. The film will be the big screen adaptation of DC comics superhero team."It will be a further expansion of this universe. Superman vs Batman will lead into Justice League,” Greg Silverman, Warner Bros' president of worldwide production, said.“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which is scheduled to be released on March 25, will see Batman and Superman indulge in a fight. Batman will travel to Metropolis and will confront Superman as he thinks the latter should be kept in the check.

Why Batman Shouldn't Be the Center of the DC Movie Universe http://io9.com/why-batman-shouldnt-be-the-center-of-the-dc-movie-unive-1723569880
No matter where he appears—comics, movies, television, Lego toys—Batman is a hit. Now, according to the latest reports from the production of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warners executives were so wowed by Ben Affleck’s performance that they’re planning to build the DC cinematic universe around him, too. So what’s the problem? A lot more than WB thinks.Obviously, it’s no surprise the studio is eager to Batman up. In the past 10 years of DC superhero movies, Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy is the only unqualified success. 2013’s Man of Steel did solid box office but attracted lukewarm reviews and mixed fan response, while most other recent movies based on DC properties have been, to put it mildly, not the stuff of which franchises are made. (Sorry, Green Lantern.)But Batman’s box office success does make him a team player. He tolerates other superheroes enough to be part of the Justice League, but making him the pivot around which they all turn is bound to get awkward. Will Batman’s role as the center of the DC movieverse extend to hanging out in space in the planned Green Lantern Corps movie? Chilling underwater in 2018’s Aquaman? Doing...whatever it is Batman would do hanging out with Captain Marvel in 2019’s Shazam? No matter how awesome Batman may be, sometimes it’s okay for him to stay home and play with his wonderful toys so other characters can do their not-remotely-Batman-ny thing.

The Only Thing That Can Beat Superman, According To Henry Cavill - http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Thin...-Henry-Cavill-77177.html#sthash.XpqL8GaF.dpuf
When you’re a Kryptonian that gains amazing abilities while under Earth’s yellow sun, there’s not a lot of things capable of hurting you. That said, there are still a few things that can hurt Superman, chief among them Kryptonite (which has become a pop culture reference for a person’s specific weakness) and magic in the comics. But if you ask current Superman actor Henry Cavill, there’s only one thing truly capable of beating the Man of Steel: himself. In an interview with The Guardian, Cavill pointed out that Superman’s moral code drives the decisions he makes, and this can result in his "noggin" messing with him while fighting adversaries, which makes for good storytelling. Or as Cavill put it simply:

Lex Luthor's Evil Scheme In Batman v Superman Apparently Involves A Key Side Character http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Lex-...rently-Involves-Key-Side-Character-77917.html
Superman and Lex Luthor have been archenemies for decades, both in the comics and other media, and that legacy is on pace to continue next year in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While we’ve a glimpse of the two adversaries together and have a general sense of why Jesse Eisenberg’s Luthor hates the Man of Steel, however, so far the specifics of his plan haven't been revealed. Now a new report is claiming that the scheme the billionaire industrialist is plotting will involve targeting someone close to Superman.Warning: potential spoilers for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are ahead, so please click away to another one of our articles if you want to go in fresh.Heroic Hollywood is claiming that in order to get under Superman’s skin in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Luthor will kidnap his adoptive mother Martha Kent, played by Diane Lane. Does this means that Luthor was able to deduce Superman’s true identity, despite the fact that Clark Kent wears glasses and parts his hair as a disguise? My God, he really is a genius! Kidding aside, the article points out that moment in Man of Steel when Clark was enraged at Zod for targeting his mother in Smallville. The Kryptonian general simply threatened Martha in that film, so needless to say Clark will be especially pissed when he finds out she’s been kidnapped. He’s already lost one Earth parent tragically, and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep the only family he has left safe.

Warner Bros. Got Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn Onto The Big Screen As Quickly As Possible http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottme...sible/?utm_campaign=yahootix&partner=yahootix
Mr. Snyder is something of the sheepherder for not just the films he is making (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the two-part Justice League movie) but the entire DC Comics Cinematic Universe. And in his second shot at bat, he brought Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) into the universe as quickly as humanly possible. He also tossed in Mercy Graves (Tao Okamoto) and (apparently) Jena Malone as Barbara Gordon for good measure. Combined with Diane Lane as Ma Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Holly Hunter as Senator Finch, this is a film that is going to have to try really hard to not pass the Bechdel Test. I have no idea to what extent these characters will interact with each other, but the fact that I even have to wonder to what extent Wonder Woman will chit-chat with Mercy Graves is itself a net-positive.Again, for what it’s worth, while Joss Whedon allegedly had to fight Marvel to include Black Widow in The Avengers, Zack Snyder got permission to, and took the opportunity to, throw Wonder Woman and (presumably) Oracle or Batgirl, two of the more popular female DC Comics characters around, into his movie universe as quickly as he could. And by announcing the so-called DC Universe slate, we also got a stand-alone Wonder Woman movie on the grid after literally decades of hemming-and-hawing. And we got a Suicide Squad movie that seems to not just feature Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) but actually star Harley Quinn (basically the most popular female character in the DC Comics world) alongside the likes of Deadshot (Will Smith), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and Enchantress (Cara Delevingne).

General Zod’s Weird New Look In Batman V Superman http://news.yahoo.com/general-zods-weird-new-look-in-batman-v-superman-121022029.html
It looks as though General Zod is getting a new look in ‘Batman V Superman’… and it’s left many fans scratching their heads.During an interview with Vulture, Michael Shannon revealed that General Zod won’t be quite the same man we saw in ‘Man of Steel’.“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands,” he said. “So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the BvS director] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f**k is he?’”Apparently, Shannon found himself in a bit of a tight spot after locking himself in behind a closed door on set… and with his new flipper-like appendages, couldn’t operate the handle.“The whole crew was standing around,” he said. “I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!'”But thankfully, an attentive crew member came to his aid.“He was actually paying attention to what was going on. He came over and he opened the door for me. Otherwise I would have gotten fired.”A whimsical anecdote, sure… but most importantly – why the hell does General Zod have flippers?Ever since production began on ‘Batman V Superman’, we’ve heard rumours surrounding General Zod’s involvement. Many wondered quite how the dead Kryptonian soldier would factor into the story… but the prevailing theory is that he will be somehow transformed into the iconic Supeman villain, Doomsday.

'Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice' Is (Sadly) Warner Bros.' Most Important Film Ever http://www.forbes.com/sites/scottme...-ever/?utm_campaign=yahootix&partner=yahootix
Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara, in a Hollywood Reporter article, defended his decision to move Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice from its intended July 2015 home to its current March 25th, 2016 release date. Warner Bros. /Time Warner TWX -4.05% Inc. did not have a great 2015 overall. They dropped eleven movies in the summer of 2015 and, with the presumption that the Zack Efron drama We Are Your Friends won’t necessarily be a smash when it opens a week from Friday, most of the films (aside from San Andreas and Magic Mike XXL) somewhat fizzled. Obviously having an 800lbs gorilla like the Zack Snyder superhero team-up sequel would have basically made the other disappointments all-but-irrelevant. And that’s the problem. For Warner Bros. in 2016, it’s basically all down to the success of one major film to define both the year and the long-term future of the studio, regardless of what else it has to offer to the world’s moviegoers. Let’s imagine two alternate timelines for 2015. Let’s imagine in both of them that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released on July 17th, 2015 as originally planned, with the obvious caveat that Walt Disney’s Ant-Man opened elsewhere. Here are the two possibilities: Either Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is a massive bazillion-dollar smash hit and jumpstarts the DC Cinematic Universe while the rest of Warner Bros.’ slate still stumbles to the degree we’ve seen thus far if not worse. Or, let’s pretend the opposite happens. Let’s pretend Mad Max: Fury Road makes $500 million worldwide instead of $370m, that San Andreas still makes $467m, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. makes $300m worldwide, and that the likes of The Gallows, Hot Pursuit, and Max all do a bit better. But in this Faustian bargain, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stalls out at $550m worldwide and completely fails to capture the imagination of fans and general moviegoers. Of these two what-if scenarios, which do you think Warner Bros. would pick? I think we know the answer.

Batman v Superman Release Date Change Explained https://games.yahoo.com/news/batman-v-superman-release-date-144100699.html
This article, Batman v Superman Release Date Change Explained, originally appeared on GameSpot. With Warner rolling out their DC Extended Universe from next year, the superhero film market is going to become a crowded place, as rival studios fight for key release slots. Warner's much-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has already shifted release dates twice, first from July 2015 to May 2016, and then forward to March 25 of next year, to avoid a clash with Marvel's Captain America: Civil War.Now, Warner CEO Kevin Tsujihara has spoken to The Hollywood Reporter about the decision to move the film to its current date, and how it contributed to a disappointing summer gross for the studio this year. "It was a tough decision at the time because it was going to create a hole in 2015," he said. "But it was absolutely the right decision for the franchise, for DC and the movie.

‘Man of Steel’ Sequel Rumored to Be Directed by George Miller http://collider.com/man-of-steel-2-sequel-george-miller/
Despite the fact that Warner Bros. has yet to peg a firm release date for Man of Steel 2, rumors are already flying about who will sit in the helm for the Superman sequel. Now I know what you’re thinking: “Isn’t Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice the Man of Steel sequel?” Yes and no. While it may have started that way, especially since Zack Snyder was returning to the director’s chair after the 2013 stand-alone Supes film, it quickly evolved into a franchise film that could open up Warner Bros.’ DC Cinematic Universe (ie the Marvel Effect). Having Batman get top billing in the follow-up film would have stolen the thunder from the Kryptonian hero, though Henry Cavill himself said that the universe needed to be developed a bit more before another solo adventure could take place. The Collider Movie Talk gang discussed this at length in a recent video. That brings us to today’s rumor that George Miller of Mad Max and Happy Feet fame has gotten the nod to direct Man of Steel 2. While this is not officially confirmed, Collider Movie Talk contributor Jon Schnepp broke the news during a recent podcast. Here’s what he had to say:

10 Justice League Dream Castings That We’ll Never Get to See http://screenrant.com/top-justice-league-dream-castings-well-never-see?ref=yfp
It’s no secret that Warner Bros. has been trying to get a Justice League movie off the ground for quite some time. After Mad Max director George Miller’s infamously doomed attempt was canceled back in 2008, the studio elected to focus on solo adventures for their superheroes. While The Dark Knight Trilogy was a smash hit with critics and fans alike, films like Superman Returns and Green Lantern opened to decidedly mixed results. But with the success of their 2013 film Man of Steel, the door was finally opened for Warner Bros. to introduce their roster of DC superheroes in a shared universe (officially named the DC Expanded Universe, or DCEU) that could rival that of Marvel’s.At the helm of the DCEU is director Zack Snyder, whose highly-anticipated film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice should lead directly into Justice League Part One, which has a planned November 2017 release date. There have been more than a few bumps along the way however, as nearly every casting decision Snyder and the other creative minds at Warner Bros. have made has been second-guessed and scrutinized by the masses.

This Week in Superhero News: ‘Man of Steel 2?, and More http://collider.com/captain-america-3-man-of-steel-2-superhero-news/
We all saw a glimpse of General Zod in the Batman v Superman trailer teasing the possible return of the villain but the truth is that if he would have a role in the film was still a mystery, now thanks to Michael Shannon we have confirmation of the villains appearance, and that of his flipper hands (yes, flipper hands). All this came from Shannon telling a story about how he got trapped inside of a porta-potty because his flipper hands made opening the door quite a challenge. Jokes aside, the story certainly opens up the discussion of exactly what we will see from General Zod in Batman v Superman. Most of us know that the director of this year’s hit movie Mad Max: Fury Road, George Miller, was at one point set to direct a Justice League movie that never happened, but according to a new rumor Miller will still get his shot at a DC property with Man of Steel 2. A direct sequel to Man of Steel is noticeably missing from the slate of upcoming DC film, but we have to assume that it will happen sooner or later, and when it does if the rumors are true we will see Miller at the helm.

Man Of Steel 2 On Permanent Hold http://news.yahoo.com/man-of-steel-2-on-permanent-hold-194625068.html
Although George Miller was recently rumoured to direct ‘Man of Steel 2’, it looks as though the Superman sequel may have already been canned.During last week’s episode of Popcorn Talk, Jon Schnepp dropped a rather huge bombshell – that George Miller would be directing ‘Man of Steel 2’. But according to Den of Geek, that rumour isn’t quite on the money… and it seems the sequel may have been canned already.“We’ve since heard from two sources that there might be substance to this rumour. They tell us that Miller is indeed in talks with Warner Bros about the possibility of taking on one of its future DC movies, though exactly what that movie is hasn’t been decided as yet… While this doesn’t rule out the possibility of Miller taking on Man Of Steel 2, another source has said that, as far as they understand it, the sequel is on ‘permanent hold’.”Unfortunately, we’re not entirely sure what that means, at least for now.Has ‘Man of Steel 2’ been put on hold until a suitable point opens up in Warner Bros’ super-powered schedule? Has it been abandoned completely?Either way, it’s obvious that WB’s upcoming superhero slate is already rather crowded… and with recent rumours that Ben Affleck is getting his own Batman trilogy, it’s understandable if there just isn’t room for the foreseeable future.

Batman V Superman: Michael Shannon Backtracks On General Zod Rumours http://news.yahoo.com/batman-v-superman-michael-shannon-backtracks-on-092101314.html
General Zod almost broke the internet recently with details of his ‘Batman V Superman’ appearance… but it looks as though actor Michael Shannon has had a change of heart.During an interview with The Daily Beast, the 41-year-old Superman villain tried to stamp out those rumours… but it might be a bit late for that.“I wasn’t there,” he said about his appearance in ‘Batman V Superman’. “It’s a really awkward situation - I’m in the trailer for a movie that I didn’t work on.”Of course, his earlier comments came as a huge bombshell after he revealed some tantalizing details about his ‘Batman V Superman’ role… particularly the weird addition of flippers for poor-old General Zod.“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands,” he told Vulture. And that prompted many to assume that his had something to do with Lex Luthor and the rumours that he’s been experimenting on General Zod’s body.Maybe even hinting that he will transform into iconic villain, Doomsday. But now Shannon claims that he made that story up…“Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous Bullsh!t answer about how my character Zod has flippers,” he said. “And this went viral on the internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete Bullsh!t story, right? But people took it seriously.”
