The AL West 2009

The Mariners are now back to 500 and tied with the Angels at 4.5 games back of the Rangers. Yeah I know they are underdogs but this is the most joy we've had in Mudville in a very long time.

Coors Field fixed that. :(

Now we know how little power the Mariners have in their lineup when they can't score at Coors....and now the pitching is banged up as well.

Dodgers, Red Sox and Yankees are on docket next...it may be do or die time.

Sean O'Sullivan fills in for injured Ervin Santana and goes seven strong innings as Angels roll over Giants, 8-1, to extend winning streak to five games. You've never seen a happier boy being sent back to AAA last night. He knows that it's a good possibility he'll be called up to pitch Tuesday.
Fine job on Irish Heritage Night @ PacBell...Sean O'SULLIVAN!!!!;)

Let's hope they extend it to 6 before losing three in a row after that. :p

Angels just beat the Giants 4-3! Sweeping the Giants and their second sweep of the NL. A minor gain on the pesky Rangers (now 1.5 behind). Their next series ain't gonna be so easy.

And they beat Tim Lincecum, certainly no easy feat! :up

He was brilliant in the early innings and just slowly faded. He went a full 8 innings I believe.

Palmer was really good for the Angels going 6.1 innings and he held his own. What was refreshing was Fuentes came in with a 1 run lead and just bowled down the side!

KCK, it's starting to feel like our boys are getting it together, isn't it? I don't know what Scioscia told them, but it sure seemed to light a fire under their butts!

Nice...but I'm still gun-shy. Let's see where we are in a month. This NL West (except LA and Colorado) are too easy on which to judge performance.

KC....feeling any more confident yet?

Confident is a strong word when discussing this particular team. Lots to prove yet to show postseason quality. That being said, I am thrilled to see them .5 behind the pesky Rangers. However, I don't think come Monday morning the seperation will be so tight.

Aside from everything, it will be a joy to celebrate the sideshow tonight at the Big A with the Weaver family. What a lovely Father's day weekend celebration for one Angel family while it is quite a different story for another one this weekend in Maryland.

Confident? I don't think Big John is anywhere near his former self after two lackluster outings. For him, it IS early and he CAN turn it around. But I am not at all confident. Not yet.

Kudos to old L.A. class act pal Jim Tracy and what he has done since taking over the Rockies. They showed the Angels a thing or two last night. It was quite a laffer from early on. These things happen a few times in a season.
The Rockies always dominate IL play. It seems that every year they have a better record against the AL than they do against the NL.
