NFL 2008-09 Season

My favorite moment of last night was our 112 yard touchdown drive wearing 8:16 minutes from the clock.

We started on the 13 yard line and got penalized 25 yards throughout this drive. Total yards gained were 112! Simply amazing I tell ya!

The Giants are OUT of my Top 10 Power Rankings- they are dropping like a stone to #11.

Sorry, Bill- I am not giving them the USC treatment- bad losses are bad losses, and USC didn't drop far enough when they lost- the G-Men are NOT getting the benefit of the doubt from me.

I'm doing for the Giants what AP voters did to LSU after they lost big to Florida.

(It's only for now- they'll likely kill the 49ers and I'll vault them back up to #5)

I said their soft schedule would mask the Osi injury (Rams, Bungles, seahawks); last night proved me 100% correct.

This post on FootballGuys Forums sums it all up:

the Giants pass rush IS going to suffer as a result of losing those two stud d-lineman. Their relatively soft schedule early on masked this

Let's see what happens against Pittsburgh without Osi.

That's fine, but be consistent. Why didn't you drop the Cardinals out of the top ten when they gave up 55 points to the Jets?

Plus, the biggest factor is that the Giants have wayyyyyyy more credibility than the Cardinals (at least at this point).

This may be the worst play in NFL history.

Let's not get carried away here...EVERY SINGLE WEEK of the NFL season, we have seen some huge games where teams that were SUPPOSE to win...get blown out...and teams that were suppose to lose crush the so-called favorite.
I think it is way to early to establish "playoff teams" and "Super Bowl contenders".

It was just ONE WIN....a GREAT and DESPERATELY needed win for the Browns....but just one win EARLY in the season. The ONLY thing it proved was the trend of the season so far...NO ONE is a clear favorite and ANYONE can win on any given Sunday.

Parity....exactly what the league wanted.

#1- When you see the goalposts in front of you, that's usually a clue that you've ran too far back!

#2- Parity? You're talking about parity? When does that come to Detroit? Despite everything the NFL has tried to do in this league, Detroit remains immune.

Daze Of Our Lions -

The defense shows up, but the offense is a no-show. It also didn't help that the refs obviously were watching a different game. Calvin Johnson gets cracked in the helmet, hits the ground, (causing a fumble). Anybody with normal, and even bad eyesight, could see this, and replays confirmed this, but the refs call it a fumble. Not even a flag for the helmet crunch. And then the bogus pass interference call on Bodden on the final series. Parity? How about some ref's that can call the game correctly?

The bottom line is that the Lions put themselves in the position to have the ref's steal a win from them. Letting a HB scamper 86 yds. for a TD on a simple slant play didn't help either. In the end the Lions did what they do best - FIND A WAY TO LOSE A GAME THEY SHOULD HAVE WON.

Cowboys traded 1st, 3rd and 6th round 2009 draft picks for Roy Williams.

Great move for the Lions.

Agreed, at least Millen is not here to draft 3 more WR's with those picks.
There was talk that it would be a Roy Williams for Roy Williams trade.
I'm glad that trade did not happen.

Jimbo

Roy Williams is gone from the Lions??

Now, I am ASSURED they'll run the table or go 1-15. He at least was a guy who could give defenses fits.

If I'm a Lions fan, I'd be livid.

They still have Calvin Johnson, who is much better in my opinion.
Personally I think Williams quit on the Lions a year or so ago.

So of the major WR's drafted by Matt Millen only Calvin Johnson remains.

Roy Williams - traded to Cowboys
Charles Rogers - head case, out of league
Mike Williams - no talent, out of league

Hence the 15-84 record (approx) for Millen ...

Still rebuilding ........................... since, God knows when :)

Here's a question; if you HAD to choose between Matt Millen or Isiah Thomas to run your fav team who would you choose?

Jimbo,
GREAT trade for your Lions today.

Anytime you can get a 1st, 3rd, and 6th rounder for a wide receiver it's a no-brainer!

I just spit soda on my work flat panel....LOL!

I don't mean to laugh at you Paul....I am not, honestly. Hell, my Raiders are just little LESS awful than he Lions....but not by much. But this guy running out of bounds was to damn funny....I would have died if he would been tackle by the gaol post. Hell, I am almost pissing in my pants now thinking about it....

:haha:river:haha:river:haha
