NFL 2008-09 Season

Steelers win!

This win puts them in a very good spot in the AFC North, at 3-1 overall, 2-0 in the division, and still two games to play against the hapless Bengals. But the game on Sunday night against Jacksonville will likely not be much easier.

Jacksonville will be ANOTHER hard hitting game.

Steeler's season getting worse.
They are down to one healthy RB, Parkers back up and rookie Mendenhaul is OUT for the Season with a Fractured Shoulder

Kinda hard to be a running team when you have only one guy left at this point...

They also lost Starting Guard Kendall Simmons for the season with a torn right Achilles

Fortunatly there was talk last night that Parker could be back in a few more weeks, I did not know that, I thought he was out for like 6-8 weeks, so that is a good sign.

The also lost back up RB Carey Davis.

The player that was taken off on a stretcher with a Spine injury, was up and around walking and joking with teammates, so he's doing MUCH better :)

The loss of Simmons is huge to an already pourus Offensive line...

So the Steeler's are pretty much a MASH unit going into Jacksonville for a Sunday Night game next week.

No, Quinn didn't play a single snap yesterday. But make no bones about it, the Browns won yesterday in spite of Derek Anderson and not because of him.

You got that right. I breathed a sigh of relief every time #3 came back on the field--at least we still had a chance. I knew if they put Barbie Queen in there, it would be over--the Bengals play against every new QB like he is Joe Montana.

It's a long season and anything can happen. The Browns have 2 weeks to get healthy, figure out the QB situation and come on strong for the remaining schedule.

You're dreaming. The way the Clowns have played this year, I figured they were about on par with the Palmer-less Bengals, and I was right. They are going exactly where the Bengals are going--NOWHERE!

I don't really believe the Chiefs are a better team. I just have them higher NOW based on beating Denver. Believe me, they'll slip below your Browns soon enough. ;)

Just bustin your grapes Bill.

That Browns/Bengals game was almost torturous to watch. The sad thing is that I know we have more talent than this, but we're playing downright pathetic right now. Your rankings are perfectly justifiable.

I'm usually not one to jump on the QB or Coach at the first sign of poor team performance, but I'm really starting to wonder how things would be different with Brady Quinn under center. I think it's safe to say that the defenses have now figured out how to adjust for Derek Anderson and his record setting performance last year, may have been an aberration.

HD,
I know YOU were :), but I've noticed a lot of people take exception to both the college and NFL polls that we do on here. I always see, team X is better than team Y.

When I do MY polls, it has NOTHING to do with I think team X is better than team Y (in the long run), it's more of a "here and now" thing with me. If you look at my top 10, there's probably four or five teams that I don't think are THAT good............it's just that's where I feel they belong NOW.

When did they do that? I thought it was always that way.

I cannot give you a year, but it use to be when in OT you played an entire quarter, basically a 5th quarter (I know it's no longer a quarter then, but hey it's not my call :D)
If they were still tied (in the playoffs) you would go another.
I remember KC and I think it was Miami back in , oh , I'd say the '70's played what seemed like forever.
