NFL 2008-09 Season

"Daze of our Lions"

It's getting harder and harder to keep this fresh - so I won't.

Highlights:

#1 - The Lions celebrated their diamond jubilee, honoring their all-time 75th season team. I could have put together a team from all these old geezers that would have given the Jaguars more of a game than the the current team did.

#2 - Kevin Smith - 23 rushes for 96 yds., and a TD.

The reality:

#1 - Culpepper starts, throws an interception on the 3rd play.

#2 - Drew Stanton plays, gets his first TD, and a healthy dose of reality with 5 sacks all in the 4th quarter, AFTER the Jaguars had already lost interest.

Best quote of the day:

Lions COO Tom Lewand was asked if he had an explanation why the Lions have played worse at home, than on the road: "I think you might want to look at your facts on that before you ask that question the next time."

The facts: the average losing margin for 4 home games - 20.5 pts. Average losing margin for 5 road games - 8.8 pts.

Is it any wonder why the Lions are so bad? The front office is oblivious to what's happening right in front of their faces!

Only 7 more losses, and the Lions are in the record books. Just remember guys, one game at a time. Keep your eyes on the prize!

Consolation prize for a sh!tty day: I won my Pick-em pool. $340. Only loss I had was Pittsburgh this week. I would like to thank Herm Edwards for making the bonehead choice of a play on the 2 pt. conversion, and my special thanks to the Green Bay kicker for going wide in the closing seconds against the Vikings.

Had a wedding to attend on Saturday night. Blowing/Raking leaves all day Sunday.

At least your Buckeyes blasted Northwestern to get on track for a potential BCS at-large spot.

BTW, the 17th of November- your Browns. my Bills. It's ON!

Yup! Should be a good one. I'm sure the Bills will be looking for redemption from last seasons' Snow Bowl loss in Cleveland. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing Brady Quinn build on a solid first start.

there's no guarantee the Browns will win. You saw what happened last week. The Browns defense made Jay Cutler look like John Elway.

Difference- Jay Cutler is a gunslinger capable of huge numbers with great wideouts.

Buffalo, OTOH, has a weak-armed QB, an underachieving wideout, and nothing else.

They don't have the offensive weapons that are capable of exploding.

Good. In that case, I hope we destroy you. ;) :D

BTW, I have both Brady Quinn and Trent Edwards on my fantasy team. I can't decide who to start.

Start Quinn. Trent Edwards has a weak arm.

Remember how Cutler once said he had a stronger arm than Elway?

At least Cutler has a huge arm and has played some phenomenal games- Edwards does not.

I may be a Bills fan, but I'm not drinking the kool-aid- TRENT EDWARDS IS A WEAK-ARMED WIMP!

That's a tough choice. I was hoping for some insight here, because I can't make up my mind which team to pick in this game. I'm leaning towards the home team.

Really Paul, it's a toss-up. The Bills have recently been stung with injuries and their defense is ailing. The Bills are at home, but that may actually be good news for the Browns. Cleveland fans are very harsh critics of their team and they would boo a poor performance. In Buffalo, at least they can be free from that. But on the other hand, the Browns defense has been absolutely abysmal! We lost 2 weeks in a row after leading by double digits in the 4th quarter. Should be a close one in the end.

I'm taking the Browns.

Unlike Buffalo, the teams Cleveland lost to have decent offensive weapons of All-Pro caliber, when you think about it.

The Bills have a pop-gun offense- for a guy who grew up during the No-Huddle era, it makes me want to cry.

You nailed that one.

The fans are in denial, they are just as bad as the crypt keeper. Ryan Leaf Jr. is a bust. Javon Walker is washed up, McFadden is made of glass. It is so much fun to watch an adult in a Darth Vader costume suffer watching that crap, they deserve it for supporting them moving back and forth.

I hope the commissioner steps in to help get Asomugha get out of Oakland, after he refuses to sign the franchise tender.

The Raiders are like a CFL team trying to compete in the nfl, lead by Conrad Burns.

There is no denial in Raider Fans because they know they are not a good team. Try looking up the word denial when you get a chance instead of hitting the Asian porn.

No set of fans deserve what is going on Oakland because those that show up in silly costumes pay their money just like anyone else.

I do wish the commissioner would step in and pull a Marge Schoot type ruling on Al Davis....but it seems that Goodel would rather after the players with bull**** suspension of fines than have the balls to go after Davis.

If Buffalo could give up 41 points to the Arizona Cardinals (who are as offensively gifted as Cleveland), how many could the Browns score- 44?

Well, with both defenses struggling, maybe we'll see a shootout in Buffalo next Monday Night! And Trent Edwards isn't as bad as your making him out to be. He was getting an awful lot of recognition earlier on in the year.
