NFL 2008-09 Season

Our next game is Monday, November 17th. 11 more long days until the Cleveland Browns visit the Buffalo Bills

I have a BAD feeling about that game.

Buffalo is not an offensively scary team, and the Browns are good against the run.

How Much Did The NFL-N Improve With Their Hire Of Bob Papa? A Ton.

Apparently others agree with me on how good the announcing was on the NFL-N last night...

Every early review that I've read seems to be in line with my thinking, and that's that the pairing of Papa and Cris Collinsworth could already be one of the top announcing teams in the NFL.
Awful Announcing

If only he had done last year's Packers/Cowboys or Pats/Giants, instead of subjecting a nation to the horror of Bryant Gumbel.

Way to go Soldier. :D

Tease the fans with 2 TD's early, and then in the 2nd half, proceed to get an offensive PI call, a fumble, and a dropped pass on 4th down. Couldn't happen to a nicer turd.

The NFL is getting just what it deserves. After pampering the new Browns and getting them back into the league, they still, for whatever reason, want the Browns to win, so much so that they game them 5 national games on TV this year, when everyone outside of Clowntown and the NFL office knew the team was overrated and a knew it was just a bunch of media hype just because they had one good year.

LOL.

I am actually enjoying this NFL Network coverage. Collinsworth and Papa are doing well. Good insight and well thought conversation by both. There are plenty of nice camera shots, mixing it up with crowd shots, areal shots and sideline views. NFLN even limits the network logo bugs on the screen and they don't have an annoying ticker like ESPN.

Nice job NFL Network!

I got to second that. Camera angles were fantastic.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!

4th AND ONE?! NO ONE IN THE BACKFIELD! THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO STOP THE RUN ALL NIGHT!

2 weeks in a row the Browns blew a big lead!

That had to be stolen from the "Detroit Lions franchise book".

Chapter one: How to wrestle defeat from the jaws of victory.
I'm sorry HD MM, but what I saw in the fourth quarter was like watching the Lions. If it weren't for the uniforms I'd swear it was the Lions defense on the field.

What was Crennel thinking on fourth and one? He didn't give Quinn a chance on that play, and that ball should have been caught.

I was impressed with Quinn, not so much with your defense.

Compare the two situations for me, if you will.

Cincinnati won their division in their good year, and were given a reasonable amount of attention from the league and the media, with occasional national games and a good deal of face time. They were expected, correctly, to have a pretty decent year the next year (they were 8-8), and the media and league reflected that with their prognostications and exposure. I have no complaints with how the Bengals' success was handled around the league.

Cleveland was given another football team almost immediately by the NFL when their owner took them away, which would never happen to Cincinnati or most other places. The league babied them early (intentionally or unintentionally) by bringing them in alone, and because of that, they didn't have to compete with another expansion team for players. Cleveland fans whined about the colors/records/etc., and the league gave them that, too (they didn't do that for Baltimore or Houston, which also had great traditions. And don't give me any crap about how great their fans are. Their fan support was no better than most teams' from the 1970s to the 1990s.). After all this, the league apparently feels like it has to justify its actions by promoting the team and trying to make it successful. I understand that the league plays favorites, but you'd think that they would subtly back the teams that actually have success and go to Super Bowls. It's justified that that franchise has done nothing but fall on its face since it came back.

Look, since you post reeks jealousy, I'm not going to argue with you on the differences between the Cleveland and Cincinnati NFL franchises. Hint: One has a storied past and storied players. The other one is a spawn formed by a disgruntled former Browns coach.

Also, as for your argument in Cleveland somehow being favored by the media, Puuuleease! This is a team who has only had ONE Monday Night game since their return in 1999!

Let us for once revel in our 5 minutes of national exposure. Trust me, after this year, it will be another 10 years before we see another Monday Night Game.

This is what 'The Sports Guy' said about Lions WR Calvin Johnson:

has Calvin Johnson's unparalleled ability to turn it on for fantasy purposes during blowouts turned him into the Jerry Rice of garbage time? It has gotten to the point that, as soon as you see "Team X 31, Detroit 7" scrolling along the ticker, you know it's only a matter of time before Curt Menafee interrupts your game and says, "Let's go to Detroit …" and the ensuing 44-yard Johnson TD. Why aren't we calling him "Garbage Man"?

I'm spared another Sunday of watching the Lions ineptitude. Blacked-out again. sh!tty day too - a relative died 2 hrs. ago.:((Saw the guy a 1/2 hr. before it happened.) So will the Lions, at least I won't have to watch that.

So sorry for your loss Paul. :(

That is really sad.

Take it from a guy whose grandmother died five years ago- it really hurts.
