wow Maryland, thanks for making Conference USA look spectacular.
and here i was thinking the ACC might look respectable this year. so far only Clempson has beaten anyone of note. Miami did as well, but Ohio St. was missing a lot of players, and they sucked in their other 2 games.
My Jackets are undefeated, but we haven't really played anyone either.

Wait.....Miami too was missing key STARTERS as well in both the Maryland game(8) and the Ohio State game(4). They are still missing 2 key defensive line players for another 2 more games going into yesterdays game.

true, but it still combines to make the ACC look weak.
Like I said, not much in the conference is making it look good.

The conferences has their champion go to a BCS bowl....once you get that, who cares what people think of it.

Too much is made about how a conference appears. Do you guys really think the players care? I highly doubt it. Obviously the coaches don't cause as soon as they leave one conference, they sing the praises of the new one. And how much of a "fair shake" do the west coast conferences get? And please don't give me this excuse of "look at the results"...it has nothing to do with conference and everything to do with matchups....plain and simple.

Not ment torward you Derwin...just the argument in general.

lol constant ACC hate... I get that you are ACC and you know ACC and you graduated ACC but come on man... its starting to sound like a broken record.

Each conference has a few teams that just look real bad this year...it happens. Miami was missing players just as OSU was and thats why you have recruiting to fill spots so missing players is a excuse I won't buy anyway. No matter what you have a few teams in the ACC that are undefeated but just as other conferences they will play each other and that will be that..ohh well.

Just remember anything can happen on any givin Saturday... even LSU or any other awesome SEC team can fall to a weaker team, and I've yet to see a team that is perfect with no mistakes in any game they've played so I can and will happen.

AP Polls out.. just as I figured VT moved up to #11 a few spots after their win with Clemson going in at #13, gonna be a big game for sure :)

LSU slips in to #1 after last nights win... nice bulls eye on them now for sure.

Unfortuantely a team is only as good as the competition it has played. Even if a team comes out of the ACC unscathed into a BCS Bowl, it won't be the Championship game. The ACC as a whole is weak, and that reflects on the champion, especially if that champion had a cake OOC schedule.

So even if GT manages to go undefeated, they'll never go beyond the Orange Bowl, as the SEC & Big Ten or Pac 12, or Big 12 will get the championship slots, probably even with one loss. Same as happens to the Big East and Mountain West.

And I would have no problem with that in most cases.

Now see that's insane no matter how you put it unless of course you are just talking about GT considering they didn't start out in the top15 in pre-season polls. If you are going to sit here and say that a #2 VT (for example) if they go undefeated on the final polls should get jumped by a 1 loss Alabama, OU or LSU team being at #3 to play in the national title game as #2 then you are crazy! As much as you are ACC, grad ACC, like ACC and whatever you should have enough sense to know this would never happen no matter how rough the SOS is. If this were to happen I would sure hope Congress gets involved with the BCS and takes it apart the next week due!

Why not? Cincinnati got jumped a few years ago. And there is at least 1 1-loss team ahead of VPI. Oregon being in the Pac-12 gives them that leg up over VPI being in the ACC. I highly doubt the loser of the LSU/Alabama game will drop them below VPI either. So if that 1-loss team goes on to win the SEC, then they'll likly be in the big game.

Clempson's out of conference schedule, involving 2 ranked (at the time) SEC teams actually gives them the best chance to leap over such 1-loss teams.

I'll save this quote as BE-bashing defense. Thanks Salsa :)

I dont see how that is really a defense, except to make the BE fans feel better. They honestly shouldnt have had an auto tie in before, and damn sure shouldnt now.
I wouldnt be shocked to see them lose it (if they are still around) in a few years.

Thing is here this whole concept is just wrong... VPI/VT's schedule does have a few ranked opponents on it including a nice #13 coming to town this weekend. This should propel them up 3-4 spots alone if they win IMO. But if something like you said happened the ACC would be all over it and I'm sure Congress would tear the BCS apart cause it wouldn't be putting the correct #1 and #2 teams playing for the title once again... a play off needs to happen - plain and simple.

On another note... I watched that Toledo/Syracuse extra point and I'm just amazed that not only did the refs call it good below the goal post but it was reviewed and said to be GOOD? WTF!?!??

If congress ever gets involved for THAT reason, I am done with it. They have no business in college football because of the perception that it might not be the correct number 1 and number 2 teams playing for the BCS.

I thought I had posted that already, but I mistakenly put it in the SEC thread. Unreal. Toledo is asking that the win be vacated.

But doesn't it sound like something Congress would do? Anything to avoid their job.

I watched the replays. From the front the ball is clearly visible going in front of the left upright, but the one review I saw from the left it almost looks like the ball disappears behind the left upright and looks to go throw. WTF?

Why 3 or 4 slots? are you expecting that many teams above them to lose?

See, this is why I hate preseason polls. Clempson showed that Auburn was a pretender, and FSU doesn't seem to be as good as the pre-season hype as well.

And no, the ACC would not be all over it if their champion got skipped over. Afterall the SEC didn't when Auburn was skipped a few years back. And as long as the ACC is getting the same amount of money whether or not they get into the championship game, they won't protest to much.

I do agree completely that we need a playoff. I've posted many times there should be a 16 team playoff with all the Div 1A conference champs and 5 at larges to fill up a 16 team bracket. Let the same selection committe that doesn't BBall pick the at larges and seed the teams. Works for 1AA, 2, 3, etc...

Big East Expansion?

When will Ohio State get the final resolution from the NCAA?
