NCAA Football 2011-2012

Anyone think the ACC might have just panicked and jumped the gun considering all of the rumors?
As far as FOOTBALL goes, I really dont see that they moved their respect meter up any by adding Pitt or Syracuse.

Pitt and Syracuse came to the ACC...I don't think the ACC went to them although it looked to have happened at some point.

It's also been noted that they will just be added into one division each so as to not cause issuses with the current layout of the conference which IMO is a good move..never cared for the pods idea.

Missouri going the SEC? NOPE :D

The Southeastern Conference dismissed media reports Tuesday that it had informally agreed to add Missouri to the conference and move Auburn to the SEC East.

Really sounds to me that the only ones that could do anything more at this point would be the Big east.. nobody else wants to expand or lose teams.

"While we have great respect for all of the institutions that have contacted us, and certain expansion proposals were financially attractive, we have a strong conference structure and culture of equality that we are committed to preserve."

Translation - Texas insists on keeping their Longhorn Network and all the revenue from it. That won't fly with us.

They may have approached them, but that doesnt change the point of my post. Did the ACC panic, and add them because of the rumors?

I think they're being proactive. It's only a matter of time before the Big XII self-destructs, and the ACC is putting themselves in a position to keep themselves ahead of the game.

That wont fly with most schools, and may yet still kill the Big 12.
If the Big-12 is to stay intact (such as it is), Texas will have to share the Longhorn Network revenue with the other schools (maybe convert it into the Big-12 Network), and the Commissioner will certainly get the boot. Texas has caused many powerful people to be embarrassed over this.

Oklahoma made some big demands in order to stay in the Big XII, I wonder if they'll start looking southeasterly now...

Possible. IF this has to happen, I wouldnt mind getting Oklahoma with A&M. Of course Okla State is probably in the deal, which would make us look at 16.

Personally, I want to stay at 12, no offense to any of those fine schools. I just like the way it works for the SEC now.

Most likely you are correct about the Big 12, but IF they can work out the deal with the LHN, they will most likely go after BYU and stick together.

Texas wouldn't compromise with the Pac-12 on it, somehow I can't see them doing that with the Big 12.

If they realize they will either have to do it to be in a conference or go independent, who knows what they will do.
Oklahoma is fed up with it, Texas AM is fed up and most likely still gone. I would wager the rest of the Big 12 is waking up to the fact that, hey, we are getting screwed.

I wouldn't call it panic..I'd call it a smart move on the part of the ACC and both schools. I think this was a planned move for months and soon Uconn along with Rutgers will join them...sooner the better to get away from the Big Easts requirement to stay for 27months or whatever it was.

Texas doesn't compromise. The Big 12 is still a sinking ship.

UT backing
But the Longhorns are not prepared to budge on Oklahoma's reported demand that UT shares revenue from its third-tier rights, which it sold to ESPN for $300 million over 20 years to create the Longhorn Network.

"Our network is our network," Dodds said. "Everybody can do one. It's never been in play. It's not going to be in play."
AND
Although the Longhorns have been criticized within the conference and nationally for their perceived role in creating unrest within the Big 12, Dodds remained unapologetic and said he wasn't worried about the school's image.

"We are who we are," Dodds said. "People say what they say. The outcome is the outcome. We're proud of ourselves. We're proud of how we do business."
