NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

The ACC keeps getting wackier and wackier.

North Carolina and Wake Forest both lose.

Who the hell wants to win this conference?

NOW it's the Hurricanes that hold their destiny in their own hands. They win out and they play for the ACC championship AND a possible berth for a BCS game.

...wow...

And they are not SUPPOSED to be "ready" for a year or two.

Still # 10, but the top 2 lose team, not sure what it would take for them to move up other than a Utah/ Boise State loss.
Actually a loss by any of the 1 loss teams may do it, if Penn State loses to MSU the Bucks would move up as well.

IF, USC, Oklahoma, Texas or Florida loses, the Bucks should move up, probably into the top 8, Florida or Alabama has to lose yet, but a Bama loss would only give them 1.
Oklahoma could lose yet ... would the Sooners drop below the Bucks , with a Buckeye win over M ...
Texas isn't losing.
Florida could lose, but I doubt that would drop that far ...
USC has ND , nope and UCLA, ahhh, no thats not happening two years in a row.

Boise State has Nevada and Fresno State left, I don't know anything about either of them.
Utah has # 14 Brigham Young .... is THAT possible ?

Just trying to figure out if Ohio State can move into the top 8 for the BCS games, or if it's too much to ask.
They have went 7-1 since the USC game, losing to Penn State 13-6 hardly a domination by PSU, yet we drop from 3 to 12 and can barely move up going 7-1, while others move up freely ....

Jimbo

Jimbo, even if OSU remains at #10 and below PSU, there's still a chance they can get an at large bid for a BCS game. That Scout.com projection has OSU in the Sugar Bowl against Alabama.

Bama may be #1, but it seems as if most people don't care or believe.

EVERYWHERE I go, all I hear is how Florida's supposed to win that game and play for a national title.

Alabama is #1, yet NOBODY thinks they can beat Florida?!

I hope Bama wins that game; I am SO tired of EVERYONE talking about the Gators like they are God's gift to the game of football, especially the incredibly annoying Tim Tebow (AKA the most annoying player in college football HISTORY).

I HATE the Gators...but I will NEVER, EVER root for a team being coached O'Sabin Bin Lying....!:mad:

I think TT vs. Missouri is exactly what this nation would absolutely love to see. Two of the highest octane offenses ever assembled. Now that would be must see TV!

I would love to see this game....a basketball score in a football game. In Vegas, it is scary what the OVER will be. Can you say 80??

All the one loss teams are trying to run up the score to get votes right now. It's pathetic. Oklahoma, Florida, USC, all of 'em do it. It's a transparent, unsportsmanlike thing to do, but hey, when the other team quits giving their best effort, and these high powered offenses want to keep scoring, the other team has to show some heart and stop them. Florida has made it all the way to number 3 by running up the score. All of the major media types criticize Alabama's schedule....but praise Florida as the best team in football right now. Why? Because they run the score up in garbage time when the game is decided, and boy, you just know that beating a team by a few more meaningless points makes that win weigh more than someone who beat a team by just a few. How can you complain about one teams schedule, and not apply that same argument to a team that's played the same schedule..?? Sportswriters are idiots, and should be tested for mental capacity before being allowed to vote in the polls. And the coaches poll is worse. Ranking Oklahoma above Texas just because Oklahoma runs the score up. Give me a break. How easily they forget Texas beat mighty Oklahoma by 10 points.

LMAO!! Great post!

...yeah, like Florida REALLY needed a FG against Miami when they were leading 23-3 with 1 minute and change left IN THE GAME earlier in the year....

There was a coach at Georgia Tech, almost 100 years ago named Heisman. He was upset about teams running up scores, to keep good ratings in the polls. He scheduled Cumberland. The final score was 222 to nothing. The quarters in the second half were cut to 6 minutes. In the second half one of the halfbacks at Tech dropped the ball and asked another back to pick up the ball. Ther response was "You dropped it, you pick it up." Imagine an offense playing an entire game of wind sprints. Some things never change. The BCS doesn't help matters.:D

I don't see OSU getting in, especially if Oregon St. takes the Pac-10.

Out of the 10 BCS slots:
6 are guaranteed to the 6 BCS conference champs, 4 are open.
The Big 12 & SEC will definitely get a 2nd BCS bid (ACC & Big East need not apply).
The 3rd slot will be either Utah or Boise St.
That leaves only one slot left. If Oregon St. wins the Pac-10 (by beating Arizona & Oregon), then USC will get the remaining slot as the Feista Bowl gets first pick of the open slots, and would prefer a relatively nearby USC.

Good explanation. :up

This is something that isn't far fetched. TT loses to Oklahoma. Florida loses to Alabama. Missouri wins the big 12. Between TT, Oklahoma, and Texas, what 2 teams are out? Is a 2 loss Florida team in?:D

Personally....in a perfect world....this BCS crap would FINALLY blow-up in someones face and we would have EVERYONE in the top 10 with 2 loses!
The day will come...!

Robinson's first team went 1-10, the first time since Syracuse began playing football in 1889 that it lost 10 games.

The team's poor performance under Robinson, who has had three offensive coordinators in his four seasons, also has hurt financially. In 21 home games over Robinson's first three seasons, more than 260,000 seats were not sold.

In April, the school newspaper, The Daily Orange, reported that the football team lost money in 2006 for the first time since 1995, when athletic departments were first required to report their finances to the government.

Average attendance fell to a 21-year low in 2007, and attendance numbers are again abysmal this season. Only 27,549 turned out for Pittsburgh in September, the smallest Carrier Dome crowd in 22 years.

Hopefully a new coach can save this once proud team.

A 2-loss Florida is in, because the Sugar Bowl will want an SEC team.
Between TT, OK, and TX, 2 teams will be in if one is in the MNC, because for the same reasons as the Sugar Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl will want a Big 12 team. Neither Bowl will a Big 10 team over their anchor conference team.

Did any of you happen to catch the Oregon Duck's latest ensemble?

A team notorious for "different" uniform styles, got even crazier this week against Arizona....

So if Oklahoma beats Texas Tech, but Missouri wins the Big 12 for an automatic BCS bid, you're saying that 2 of the remaining teams would land a BCS berth. Isn't there a limit of 2 per conference?:D

ESPN - List Ranker - Rank 'Em: Doak Walker Award

Here are the 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award.

I know who 9 of the 10 are, but I've never heard of Tyrell Fenroy.]

BTW, I am picking Javon Ringer.

This is not a MICHIGAN-MSU thing, but I've watched Ringer play every week, and I he's the winner, I'll say that it's a BAD year for RB's. Ringer is averaging about 4 yds. a carry I believe. He's a work horse, and that's about it. There are at least 3 RB's in the BigTen that I think are better RB's. We've got 2 on MICHIGAN that would have better numbers if they played behind those ox that MSU's line has. Not to mention Wells, and Penn St.'s lead back.
