NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

Cant say I disagree with the current rankings... Its really going to shake things up though if TT loses to OK who goes where?

Texas lost to TT, but beat OK. How far does TT Drop? Do they get disqualified for the NC? They would only be a one-loss team.

The Big12 is a beast this year, id say as a whole better then the SEC this year. I do beleive however the top two in the SEC can beat the top 2 in the big12, But overall The Big 12 has more stacked teams then the SEC this year.
Texas would go. The reason being Tech would have to drop if the Sooner s beat them.

But don't bring up Troy. It was Troy. Leading LSU. No one really believed LSU was going to just let Troy come into Tiger Stadium and blow them out, did they? 31-3 leads against vastly more talented teams aren't that hard to blow. It took LSU 35 minutes into the game to get over the Bama hangover. It took Bama almost a quarter and a half to get over the LSU hangover. If Troy had played LSU when the game was originally scheduled earlier in the year, the game would have gone about the same as the LSU-Tulane game did.

I don't think so :)

Troy is much better than you give them credit for ...

The BCS is out

1. Alabama 11-0
2. Texas Tech 10-0
3. Texas 10-1
4. Florida 9-1
5. Oklahoma 9-1
6. USC 9-1
7. Utah 11-0
8. Penn State 10-1
9. Boise State 10-0
10. Ohio State 9-2
11. Georgia 9-2

Still # 10, but the top 2 lose team, not sure what it would take for them to move up other than a Utah/ Boise State loss.
Actually a loss by any of the 1 loss teams may do it, if Penn State loses to MSU the Bucks would move up as well.

IF, USC, Oklahoma, Texas or Florida loses, the Bucks should move up, probably into the top 8, Florida or Alabama has to lose yet, but a Bama loss would only give them 1.
Oklahoma could lose yet ... would the Sooners drop below the Bucks , with a Buckeye win over M ...
Texas isn't losing.
Florida could lose, but I doubt that would drop that far ...
USC has ND , nope and UCLA, ahhh, no thats not happening two years in a row.

Boise State has Nevada and Fresno State left, I don't know anything about either of them.
Utah has # 14 Brigham Young .... is THAT possible ?

Just trying to figure out if Ohio State can move into the top 8 for the BCS games, or if it's too much to ask.
They have went 7-1 since the USC game, losing to Penn State 13-6 hardly a domination by PSU, yet we drop from 3 to 12 and can barely move up going 7-1, while others move up freely ....

Jimbo, I like Troy. I used to go to some of their games when I was a kid. But Troy has never had a top 5 recruiting class. LSU has far more talent than Troy could ever recruit. Troy is a pretty good team...for the Sun Belt. They showed how good they were when they were fumbling, letting punts hit blockers for fumbles, and an inability to stop a run in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Plus they probably got tired. Depth is a huge problem for little teams trying to knock off big teams. Even if the first string can play with the other team, the reserves can't.

I think it's because of the games that he missed.

He's STILL one of the top RB's in the nation, not saying he should win it, due to missing games, but he should at least be in the running.

I hope Ringer wins it . :up

Wells out rushed Ringer in the game 149-69 in the head to head match up :D

OK, the first half of thier season was good.
If they win thier last two games they will go 8-4...
NO, I didn't expect them to play with LSU, or any of the top SEC teams.

Seems to me they had LSU on the ropes and eventually lost by only 9 points , a team that should have lost to LSU by 21-31 points,
I will give Troy credit, even though you won't.

The Alabama-LSU game was the hardest hitting game I've seen all season. Maybe in a couple of seasons. And I watch way too much college football. Troy got to play them at the perfect time, what with this being the game that LSU had talked about for almost 2 years. The fans, anyway. They lost a game that went into overtime, and that kind of loss is sometimes hard for kids to get over. I'm not taking anything away from Troy. Reality just set in with 11 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. Ohio State wasn't blowing Troy out after that loss to USC. It was 14-10 into the 4th quarter, wasn't it? That's entirely because of the loss the week before. They recovered enough to put distance between them on the scoreboard just like LSU did. They just didn't let Troy go ahead of them.

Jimbo, does Ohio State have to be in the top 8 to get a BCS game? I thought they could get an at large bid somewhere even if they stayed at number 10.

Your probably right about that...
I was just thinking, they could do better than that even, if they beat M and MSU beats PennState, Ohio State would be a Co Champion in the Big Ten, seeing OSU beat MSU they would get the BCS bid that automatically goes to the Big Ten....
Then they would not have to wonder if they make a BSC game they would know for sure.

First things first, win the next game ..... See there is incentive for the Bucks in the game against TTUN ....

MDonnelly, if you're out there, I challenge you to an avatar bet.

Saturday, November 22nd. Texas Tech/Oklahoma.

The losing team's representative (you or me) has to put up the following avatar of the winning team until Monday, December 8th (The day after every bowl game is finalized).

If Texas Tech wins, you have to put up this avatar:

If Oklahoma wins, I put up this avatar:

What do you say, donnelly?

You up for a challenge?
It's been a busy weekend. I accept your challenge. Tech has won some big games at home. Let's see how they do in a big-time away game.

Those who are saying OU is running up the score, "not so fast, my friend". OU has put on the brakes in the second half of their games to keep from scoring. I don't know what more they could have done besides hand the ball to the other team so they could score and make it respectable.

And I say no mercy on Tech. Wasn't it last year Tech was down by 33 to Minnesota in their bowl, and came back to win it?

Because others have not lost twice... One of those loss's was a complete ass kicking. Every team above OSU is undefeated or only one loss, OSU is exactly where they deserve to be. Although I think GA should be ahead of them, (simply because Id bet anything GA could beat OSU)

I didn't say they should be ahead of someone with less losses, yet.
Just waiting for a team to loss.
As I mentioned, several teams have to lose yet

Jimbo

Yes Id agree, but which teams do they move ahead of? Would a 1 loss Alabama move OSU up? Id say if Bama loses to FLA only the top 5-6 would shuffle. If FLA loses to Bama id say maybe the top 8-9 would shuffle. What about OK losing to tech? How far does OK drop? Afterall their loss is to an undefeated team.

God the BCS sucks. Cant we settle it on the field?

This should not matter, Ohio State lost to an undefeated USC team and drop 10 spots, that in itself was rediculous.

IF Oklahoma lost, I don't know if Ok would drop below them or not, it would be close, probably not though.
I would like to say that if USC lost , the Bucks would move past them, but style points count for some reason and people would say that they beat the Bucks.
fwiw, I think if they played today, it would be an entirely different game.
If Utah or Boise State lose, they should move ahead of them
That leaves Penn State, if PSU loses, the Buck, although they lost to them, should move ahead of them if past history is used, losing late kills you.
Also if penn State loses and the Bucks win, they WIN the Big Ten title.

Jimbo

I still don't get why Ringer is such a big deal. I've seen him play, he's good, but Donald Brown is at least as good, if not better.

Seriously, to those picking Ringer - explain.

Losing late does kill you, But winning big games late also helps you. So its a catch22 if you make all your tough games first, it makes the loss easier to forget, but if you play cupcakes the last few games that also is negative.
