NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

I hear ya. Luckily, my wife was a PE major in college, and is very into college sports. She understands why I watch them all (like yourself), only she makes me feel guilty about it. If I could only get the kids into it like I am, then I'd have some backup.l :D

I feel your pain, my daughter yells at me every time I watch a sports show, good thing I have a DVR so I can still play games with her, and not miss my games.:D

Michael Crabtree is awesome. I just pray for his sake that he doesn't get drafted by Oakland or Detroit. Seriously. I'd play in the Arena League or in Canada before I'd sign with those teams.

As much as Salsa clamors about Oakland not having any WR's, I have a bad feeling the Crab man is going to don the silver and black. But then again, the Detroit Lions will probably be picking ahead of them and we all know how much Detroit loves picking WR's in the draft.

I wish KCK-Halo or someone in LA would become a spokesperson for USC and the Pac-10. This forum is well represented by Big-10, Big-12 and SEC posters. But, I can't recall any USC/Pac-10 members. It would be cool to have that territoty covered someday...
PAC-10 fans are busy eating Sushi and drinking Appletinis. No time for sports forums.

I feel bad for Bill Stewart. He's such a nice guy, but I don't think he's gonna make it as West Virginia's coach very long.

USC is up 17-3.

Is that going to be good enough to jump up in the polls? The offense is still not as good as it was supposed to be

Looks like the pollsters didn't put too much stock in the margin of victory and rightly so. Cal is a decently good team. Mel Kiper Jr. even predicted a Cal victory before the game. This close game shouldn't surprise most.

You've also got Michigan St-Penn St that day. Any chance Ohio St-Michigan gets relegated to the Big Ten Network? I mean they don't even play for a jug or nothing.

No way. OSU and Michigan are scheduled for noon. The MSU/PSU gametime is still TBD. So is the OU/TT game. Hopefully the schedulers figure this out.

My prediction:

Noon/ABC- OSU/Michigan
3:30/ABC- Michigan St./Penn State
8pm ABC/ESPN- Oklahoma/Texas Tech

A playoff system would ruin college football. It's the best sport in the world. Why change anything? It has the most meaningful regular season of any sport. Every week, teams need to come out and win if they want a shot at a title. Losses are huge. The NFL has a playoff, and teams with 6, 7, or 8 losses get into the postseason. I don't care to see college teams with 3 losses get into a playoff and have a chance at a title. If you don't compete every week like this is the most important game of the season, you shouldn't play for a championship in college football.

If College Football has the best regular season, then College Basketball has the best post season. Could you imagine having the best of both worlds?

Definitely correct about OU/TTU:

They don't need to play for any useless JUG.
As for the BTN, NO it's normally on ABC up here and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Jimbo

I was wondering when you were going to say something about that posting. Mine was yesterday. I guess he didn't know that THIS A BIG GAME. Of course, being a NC fan, he hasn't seen many important football games.:D

Last season after LSU's second 3OT loss, a losing effort against the Razorbacks that I thought knocked the Tigers out of contention for the MNC, I was so upset I aquired a lifetime souvenir of that season - a three inch scar on my stomach from a broken stair baluster. My family was staying in a rental cabin for Thanksgiving and I was pacing around in the dark late at night because I couldn't get that game out of my mind. I mistepped and fell down a flight of stairs and went completely through the balusters on the landing midway down. I found a piece of one of the balusters sticking out of my gut (good thing for that extra fat). I was still a little intoxicated, which no doubt didn't help my balance, but at least it dulled the pain.

I'll bet you felt pretty dumb when LSU lucked out a week later (thank you, Pittsurgh).

Not going to happen. I'm guessing the monster DE from Georgia Tech, or a QB.

Be careful

Yeah I read that this morning in the paper. There are some idiots out there!

I am confused about the murder charges though. If the story is accurate, the owner of the house was on HIS property and had been threatened with a weapon BEFORE he got his shotgun. Dont want to get to far off topic with that, just odd.

Anyway, crazy

Edit: THIS particular version doesnt give the facts that I stated, but thats how it was reported in the Mobile Press

Well, that certainly makes sense. Looks like I called that one.

Also, with the OSU/UM game being televised nationally and PSU/MSU game not, it goes to show you despite records, THE Rivalry always triumphs other games.
