NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

With the Penn State loss, also went the probable chance of Ohio State making a BCS game. :(

Jimbo

Yeah, that is a negative Jimbo. But PSU still has Michigan State in 2 weeks. I know I will be rooting like hell for MSU, more so than I ever have rooted for a Michigan team come November 11th. BTW, that game time is still TBD. Those TV bafoons better not schedule this game opposite the Bucks/Michigan game at noon that day! Keep hope alive. There's still a chance OSU can face USC in the Rose Bowl.

One positive on Saturday's PSU loss is that OSU along with PSU and Michigan State, now hold a 3-way share of the Big Ten Title.

Checked the schedule- IF Tech wins tonight, both the Red Raiders and the Sooners are off next week.

IF Tech wins, that would be another mega-blockbuster game.

MY GOD! November 22nd is shaping up to be one of the best College Football days ever!

Tech vs. Oklahoma
Ohio St. vs. Michigan
Michigan St. vs. Penn St.
BYU vs. Utah

Why so mad? If anything, this is a good thing. Now, there are two unbeaten teams in the running for a National Championship (Alabama and Texas Tech). With PSU losing, this now takes the debate out of whether or not to also consider them too.

As a college football fan, I think I would like to see the winner of the Big 12 and SEC play eachother in the BCS Title game. I can see that game being Texas Tech vs. Florida. (And yes, a 1 loss Florida team is better than an unbeaten PSU team. With PSU losing, thank God we don't have to have that debate.)
My nightmare scenario: OU beats TTU two weeks from now, and they jump over Florida and Texas to #2.

Then Florida narrowly beats Alabama in the SEC title game.

Florida becomes #1, 'Bama #2, and they play again in the BCS MNC.

It's a real shame that Purdue is struggling; Joe Tiller is one of the classiest and most innovative coaches in football (his Purdue teams under Brees and Orton were like Texas Tech- wide-open and pass-happy).

He won't make a bowl game for only the second time in his career; I just hope he can win his final game at home (against Indiana).

+1 :up

If OU is at #2 after beating Tech, and Florida beats a #1 Bama, I see OU at #1 and Florida at #2 for the MNC, or vice versa if Florida slaughters Bama. It's tough to see the pollsters giving the MNC to two teams from the same conference.

If OU wins out, including the Big12 CG (assuming they can still get in it), I think they are in the MNC.

Tennessee has just lost to Wyoming.
Once again, the Tennessee offense scored all the points in the game, it's just that most of them were for the other team. Wyoming returned an interception to the 4 yard line and scored the next play. Then, they returned an interception for a touchdown. So Wyoming had one scoring drive of 4 yards for the whole game. The wheels are off in Knoxville.

God. What a nightmare that would be! I don't know if they would put two teams from the same conference in the title game though. See Ohio St. and Michigan from a few years ago....

I don't want to hear about pick-sixes.

Yeah, Mccoy, I got one of those "have you lost your mind" looks in the first quarter Saturday. On that first drive, when Coffee busted off the left side for like 30 or 40 yards, I was jumping off the couch, pumping my fist in the air, running around the living room....I turned around and my better half was in the doorway of our bedroom looking at me as if I had grown antennae out of my head. She'd been taking a nap with the kids, and I was trying to be quiet, but that was just asking too much during that game...She couldn't understand why a grown man, all by himself in his own house, was talking to the tv...

I doubt that Beanie Wells will win it, he may be the best of the group, but missing 3 games so far should disqualify him.

Ringer (MSU) is the real deal as well.
I look for both to do well in the NFL.

Q. Will Beanie come back next year ?

Jimbo

I hope so. Seeing a healthy, Senior Beanie Wells and a Sophomore Terrelle Pryor together would be very exciting!

Writers polls are only 1/3 of the equation though. The coaches' poll might put the two SEC teams close, and the computers might make the difference.

And if Bama loses in the SECCG, the voters will drop them to at least 5th. Maybe further. None of the talking head media types think Bama belongs at the top. Bama just hasn't obliged and lost a game yet....almost like 1992....maybe 12-0, going into a game against Florida, where they don't have a chance....Where's Antonio Langham and Shane Matthews when you need 'em?

I sync mine up with the opening kickoff. I've gotten pretty good at it. I have HR 20's and 21's I use....if I'm just barely off I sync it up when the ref's are explaining the penalties. You can read his lips and hear it over the local broadcasts to sync it up. Practice makes perfect...

Isn't the radio broadcast always ahead of TV (satellite)? Wouldn't this make it near impossible to sync up to the TV broadcast? You can pause TV. You can't pause radio.

They'll have more than a chance this year with Saban at the helm. ;)

Mccoy, my wife doesn't understand why I watch ALL of the games on Saturday...and Thursday, and Friday, and Tuesday, and those games on Sunday and Monday...she already thinks I'm nuts. She hasn't learned yet that I have to watch this team play that team, because if that team wins, it affects this team that's playing this other game against that team, that if that team wins, it affects my teams standings....It all comes full circle in my eyes. I've tried explaining it...apparently, I'm just obsessive about football...

Yeah, HD, but XM carries the games now, it used to be Sirius until last year. Also, if you go to Yahoo! sports, a lot of team let you pay 5 bucks a month to hear the broadcast, pre-game and post game included, and a weekly call in coaches show. Those are both behind live tv, and with a DVR, you can sync it up. I'm usually about 1 play behind live tv, usually less than 45 seconds...but thats a long 45 seconds when your buddies are calling you up, yelling about the play you're just about to watch...

I hear ya. Luckily, my wife was a PE major in college, and is very into college sports. She understands why I watch them all (like yourself), only she makes me feel guilty about it. If I could only get the kids into it like I am, then I'd have some backup.l :D

So what's up with the greatest team of all time, somehow better than last year's greatest of all time USC team, up only 10-3 on Cal tonight?

I wish KCK-Halo or someone in LA would become a spokesperson for USC and the Pac-10. This forum is well represented by Big-10, Big-12 and SEC posters. But, I can't recall any USC/Pac-10 members. It would be cool to have that territoty covered someday...

I gotcha. I was thinking you were talking about terrestrial (AM) radio. I have Sirius. I will have to try this sometime.
