NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

I am impressed with TT, but Oklahoma State's tackling is the worst I have ever seen!! I mean it's one thing to miss tackles, hell, everyone does....but to have guys wrapped up and then lose them is pretty pathetic.

Somehow I see Al Davis drafting some of those guys and paying them $70 million. :haha

Two questions:

1. How far could Oklahoma State drop in the polls after supplying a butt that Texas Tech kicked?

2. Could USC drop in the polls? They aren't looking too good even in victory against a ranked Cal team.

Thoughts on the Late Saturday Games:

1. Two down and one to go for Texas Tech, plus the Big XII Championship Game, to lock up the BCS Title Game.

2. Vanderbilt's game at Tennessee looks as the decider for their bowl hopes.

3. A big thank you to Boston College for ending all talk of a BCS bid for Notre Dame.

4. USC is playing itself out of any BCS bowl bid, plus if the Pac-10 season ended today Oregon State would be the Rose Bowl team by virtue of tie-breakers.

5. The all-night cafe offers little for a late snack this week...New Mexico at UNLV, a couple of scrappy MWC teams with the Lobos fighting for a bowl birth...otherwise most cable/DBS services offer NBA free preview with the Blazers hosting the T-Wolves as the dessert.

Tech has beaten THREE ranked opponents.

Everyone was asking about their four-game stretch.

ANY QUESTIONS?

Except for Bill, nobody else but me was a believer in the Red Raiders.

Florida State was highly overrated in the 90's. They played a one or two game schedule every year, and acted like they were the greatest of all time. Poster child for weak strength of schedule. Nebraska was a devastating force. But there were other really good teams in the 90's. Bama in '92, Florida in '96, Tennessee beat Florida State in '98. Florida was dominant in the SEC most years. Parity isn't what it's cracked up to be. I mean, there's a reason no division 1A school had lost to a division 2A school until Michigan last year. The constant merry-go-round in the top 3, or top 5 teams takes some of the fun out of college football for me.

Cal is ranked so give them some credit. USC is ranked 7th with Ok St, Boise St and Utah behind them. USC is not going to get passed by non BCS teams. If USC got to play Utah St like Boise St did then I'm sure they'd look awesome.

I am impressed with TT...but a couple of things standout to me. WHY are they STILL passing leading by 29 with less than 5 minutes left? EVEN if it's the 2nd string QB....you are running up the score. 2ndly, I know that everyone misses tackles, but Oklahoma State displayed some of the worst tackling I have seen in a long time.

How high does OU rise for ther showdown in two weeks?

That will be GI-NORMOUS!!

Sorry HD, but Ohio State/Michigan will have to take a backseat- Harrell and Bradford OWN the third Saturday in November.

You've also got Michigan St-Penn St that day. Any chance Ohio St-Michigan gets relegated to the Big Ten Network? I mean they don't even play for a jug or nothing.

I heard Brent say that he and Herbie will be calling BC-Florida St. next Saturday night.

You mean to tell me that there's nothing better than that!

I'm afraid so, Billy.

Consider:

Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Michigan State have next week off

Florida hosts a schizophrenic Gamecocks team

Penn State hosts a bad Indiana team and will want to take out some anger on them

Alabama plays a 3-6 Mississippi State team

Besides, B.C./Florida State is relavant; it plays out into that wacky ACC race.

I was going to challenge mdonnelly to an avatar bet for Tech/Oklahoma in two weeks, but I already have an avatar bet with Bill on Pats/Bills tomorrow.

If Buffalo wins, the bet is on withmdonnelly.

If not, it's off.

CBS will decide tomorrow (Sunday) which SEC game they will carry next Saturday at 3:30pm ET: Mississippi St.-Alabama, South Carolina-Florida or Georgia-Auburn. Out of the two games that CBS DOESN'T choose, one will go to Raycom at 12:30pm ET and the other will be the ESPN Saturday night game at 7:45pm ET.

My prediction:

CBS- South Carolina-Florida (Spurrier angle)
ESPN- Georgia-Auburn
Raycom- Mississippi St.-Alabama

My prediction:

CBS- South Carolina-Florida (Spurrier angle)

Raycom- Mississippi St.-Alabama

ESPN will be stuck with another Saturday night rout (see Oklahoma/Washington, Bama/Tennessee, Penn State/Wisconsin, Nebraska/Oklahoma). Georgia is still good and we all know that Auburn has a confusing offense, although they did look good today (albeit against Tennessee-Martin).

South Carolina is 7-3, so it's not like they are awful like Tennessee.
