NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

Ohio State is playing Northwestern at 12:00pm ET on ESPN2 this weekend, while the Bama-LSU game is on at 3:30pm ET on CBS. Presumably, ESPN never had a shot at the Bama-LSU game since CBS would have gotten first dibs.

Couple of other random clarifications of stuff recently in this thread....

Ball St-Miami(OH) is on ESPN2 at 7pm ET... on Tuesday. That is not a Saturday night game.

ABC at 8pm ET has two games on a split national broadcast: Cal-USC and Oklahoma St-Texas Tech.

Disney is carrying a night SEC game: Florida-Vandy at 8pm ET on ESPN2. Oddly, they decided to put Notre Dame-Boston College on ESPN in the same slot (instead of putting the better game on ESPN and the sucky game featuring the Irish on ESPN2).

What happened to all ND game being on God's network NBC ?

Texas is still in pretty good shape at #4. Granted they don't control their destiny anymore, but teams have overcome close losses to still reach the NC.

Great win for Pitt against Notre Dame.

our resident Pittsburgh fans- cybok and mccoy (not the RB, the Pittsburgh/LSU fan) must certainly be impressed.

The Panthers are officially bowl eligible. Dave Wannstedt has saved his coaching career.

Yes it is, but we still need a QB.

If thats so, then the listing at hdsportsguide is incorrect.
After looking at the Ball State schedule the game is actually on WED. night :)

Jimbo

Northern Illinois-Ball St is indeed on ESPN2 at 7pm ET on Wednesday (Nov 5).

The week after, Ball St-Miami(OH) is on ESPN2 at 7pm on Tuesday (Nov 11). The previous poster mentioned this game, so hence why I brought it up.

Still pretty cool that undefeated Ball St is getting some TV time.

Texas Tech is ranked in the top 10 right now as the result of playing lots of cupcakes. They are the most overrated team in the country right now hands down.

don't you realize you're very likely setting yourself up for a huge "I TOLD YOU SO!" ?

Sorry Sabres,
Today's win did nothing to convince me that they have played anyone.

When they play a team that if they lose will not leave the rankings, then I'll talk about them...

Sabres you assume that Texas Tech is at least the 2nd best team in their own division. I don't. They may only be the 4th best team in their division.

As I keep saying every week, this TT team is extremely overrated.

I'll say it flatly. Texas Tech is a huge fraud.

Their current ranking is deserved as any team from a BCS Conference(sans the Big Least) being undefeated at this point would be rightly ranked in the Top 10.

My guess is 4 losses in the 4 Games listed above and a 5th loss in a minor bowl game.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The only question is whether or not TT cheats like Hal Mumme did. Either way they are nothing but a glorified flag football team. That ref in the LSU-South Carolina game plays better defense than Texas Tech does.

I TOLD YOU SO!

The computers show no love for Penn St. The have Alabama & Texas Tech tied at 1st, with Texas at 3rd. Penn St. is at 4th with the computers, and the rest of their schedule isn't going to help improve that.

Thank God. And Florida will jump them also if they beat Alabama. Oklahoma could to if they win out.

They 31 voters who gave Penn State first place votes, should at minnimum be drug tested, most likely be stripped of any voting rights.

Reason #847 why the Big Eleven is a joke...

It's possible that Minnesota will have 10 regular season wins this season and will not have beaten a ranked team.

And you don't have to go back that far to find the last time that happened. Wisconsin went 11-1 in the regular season in 2006 without a single win against a ranked opponent.

With that being said, Penn State beat Ohio State at Ohio State which is a ranked team, they beat Oregon State which beat #1 USC.

Nobody was saying anything about USC when they were winning tournaments, Pac 10 might be the worse conference beside the ACC and Big East.

Don't think for one minute I'm saying the Big Ten has just as hard of a schedule as the SEC or Big 12, but all Penn State can do is play with what is given to them. Until the NCAA makes every conference even like basketball, every conference has a tournament, then there is nothing teams that don't have tournaments can do about it.

IMO the reason they don't have playoffs is because the BCS will lose to much money. If they can have a tournament for Basketball, thy can have a playoff system for football. Until then the reporters and coaches who don't even watch all the games and some computer nerds gets to decide who wins the championship. Let the players decide who wins by playing games.

If the Tech/Texas score holds up (I'm not declaring this game over), david, Sam, anders, and HD_MM may have to eat crow.

Sabres, consider it done. :(

I was wrong in declaring Texas Tech a pretender. That win against #1 Texas proves that they can hang with the big boys. :up

BTW, I didn't see a minute of what I heard was a fantastic game. I was at a Halloween party on Saturday night and missed the entire thing, however I did see the highlights on ESPN.

Hell it's 7:54 west coast time and i am switching my avatar NOW!! Great job by Tech They look like a team who is hungry!! Chance Mock and Mack Brown you are who i thought you were! CRAP! p.s. Can i please.. please have Sweet baby ray's bbq suace with my CROW!?

ohhhh! Sweet Baby Ray's is my favorite! :hungry:

That's not really true. PSU plays a tougher schedule than Texas from this point forward (the computers generally really like 8-2 Michigan State for example) so PSU could potentially gain ground in the computer ratings and improve their BCS standings. That said, if Texas Tech wins the next two weeks, they would pick up votes in the human polls relative to PSU and would solidify their #2 spot.

The basic reality is, though, that PSU if they win out is on the outside looking in if both Bama and Texas Tech win out. But if either of those teams falter, PSU goes to the championship with a 12-0 record. No 1 loss team is going to pass PSU.
