NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

That was one of the best games of the season last night. What a fourth quarter. Watching the first half, I would have never thought that Texas would get back in that game. Come BCS time, there sure are going to be a lot of people crying around here. It will be interesting to see how this all shakes out, because I don't think there will be 2 undefeated teams, to make the picture clear. I'm becoming a fan of Big 12 football, though. Exciting as all hell! Maybe the best conference in the land this season.

Congrats to TT on a big win (and my condolences to that poor fool for Texas that dropped an easy game-winning interception on that last drive by TT). Your prediction panned out Sabres.

How are you with the stock market? :D

I think back to that day when sportscenter was reporting Alabama had hired Rodriguez....I was mad that this was their first choice. I didn't know how bad that choice was. If he turns things around, that might be one of the ugliest turnarounds ever. I don't know how you can recruit against Ohio State, Penn State, even Michigan State after this year and expect the best recruits to choose Michigan. But he's the reason Alabama wouldn't take no for an answer from Saban...so thanks, Rich, for embarrassing Alabama and making a fool out of our AD to get a better contract...which you wound up paying 4 million dollars to get out of less than a year later!! If you hadn't, Alabama would probably have hired some hotshot wannabe (Tony Franklin, anyone?). After that national embarrassment, they didnt care how much it cost, they were going to get a coach who had won before and was a proven coach. As much as we Alabama fans hate Rodriguez, even though we didn't really want him as a coach anyway, I think Michigan fans are gonna hate him more. Wonder if he regrets turning down that Bama job yet....thank God he did.

If TT, UT & OU all finish with 1 conference loss, who goes to the Big 12 championship game?
If all three end up with one loss, whoever is higher in the BCS goes to the Big-12 championship. Advanage OU or OSU, since they would have the oldest loss.

OU and OSU can't both end up with just one loss. They both have one loss now, and play each other Nov. 29th.

Edit: It just occurred to me that OSU and Tech play each other next week. Only one will come out with one loss.

You may have dodged a bullet. Right now I'm speaking from anger, and maybe in a year I'll feel differently, but the fact remains that MICHIGAN recruits every year in the top ten, so the talent is here, and this guy doesn't seem to know what to do with them. Great coaches adapt to the talent on hand, and I haven't seen any evidence of that, from this staff. If they left the defense alone, we would have blown Purdue out yesterday, but these kids looked confused yesterday, and this wasn't anything they haven't seen before from Purdue. I'm just not impressed with Rodriguez at this stage.

Watching College Football Live, I enjoy the trio of Rece Davis, Lou Holtz, and Mark May. They are very enjoyable to listen to when it comes to recapping the games. Much better than the days of Trev Alberts!

NO NO NO
Mark May CLEARLY came in to take Trev's place in BASHING the Buckeye's and he does Trev proud, in case you haven't noticed.

In my opinion May needs to be OBJECTIVE, which he is not.
On the other end of the line, Kirk Herstreet acts like he's not allowed to have a positive opinion about the Buckeye's.

It is a shame that Penn State will be ranked #2 or 3. I don't think they are even one of the 10 best teams in the nation.

My top 10

1. Alabama
2. Texas Tech
3. Florida
4. Texas
5. Oklahoma St.
6. Oklahoma
7. USC
8. Utah
9. Boise State
10. TCU
11. Penn State*

Your dillusional.

Thanks for the sympathy, Sabre. (And congrats on a signature win for your fav TT.)
Riff, Coach Rod has done one of the worst coaching jobs this side of the Lions. I will give him a couple of seasons to turn it around (I have no choice, and no say in the matter), but this man has done NOTHING to adapt to the talent he did inherit, and yes there is plenty there. What did this guy do to the defense? The offense was fun to watch yesterday, but the defense was non-existant, and this is a unit that had at least 7 returning starters! If next season looks anything like this one, Rodriguez will be fired. He's turned MICHIGAN into the Big Ten version of the Lions, Think about that first season after Millen took over, and tell me this doesn't look eerily similar.

Don't worry Paul,
Your team will smile by the end of November .....

Wow the AP jumped Tech over Penn State. I can't argue with that, they both have played weak schedules with the exception of one game, but I wouldn't have believed the voters would vote Penn State out of the top 2 without a loss. I don't think Tech will go undefeated, but I can't believe that with all of the sympathy votes Penn State's been getting, that you drop a team in their bye week. Now, I don't think Penn State is a top 2 team, but even I wouldn't have voted them out of the top 2 at this point. Not until Tech beat Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.

AP & Coaches Polls are out.

Penn St fans shouldn't complain too much. They have the easiest schedule remaining of the top 3 teams.

I'll say this right now, the SEC champion will be in the NC. It's going to be hard to deny Alabama or Florida.

I think Alabama or Florida will beat anyone they play on January 8th.

It's goona be Florida against Penn State in the MNC. You can bet the farm on it (yours, not mine). ;)

Agreed.

Sigh - looks like no BCS for UConn - now I REALLY have to root against Notre Dame. Don't know if I can actually hope for a BC victory, though

Florida's not a better team than Alabama. They do have more experience. Neutral field, everything on the line....it's a toss up. Alabama's defense is good enough to stop Florida's rushing attack. Florida will get big plays from the skill positions just because of the speed they have. Alabama's offense wouldn't make the same mistakes that Georgia did yesterday, and Florida's defense wouldn't stop Bama's ground game. Could Bama make enough plays in the passing game to score 30 points? I think so, but they haven't had to all season. I don't know how you pick one team over the other. Should be a great game.

Penn State and Alabama just sounds like a national championship game, doesn't it? I want Barry Krause for the pre-game speech for Bama!

Actually, any combination of Penn St., Alabama, USC, Oklahoma and Ohio St. sounds like a national championship game. :up
