It sure didn't over the past years back undefeated teams like, Boise State, Utah, and Marshall.
you left out the 2004 Auburn Tigers. (You know Auburn fans can't let that go)
I think LSU is still the best team in the nation. If they win out, then there's no way they can't be in the championship game. I just hate to see OSU embarrassed by an SEC team two years in a row.
But seriously, if ASU, OSU, and BC stay undefeated and LSU only has one loss, then who's #1 and #2? Who gets left out? In that situtation, I would say LSU and ASU were 1 and 2, but that leaves OSU and BC screaming their heads off.
What would be even crazier though, let's say that they all have one loss and Hawaii is the only undefeated. You could go on like this all day. It just all boils down to the fact that the BCS is total crap.
Before the beat PSU AT PSU....really were NOT battle and you know that...they had played NOBODY. A win against a GOOD Pen State was impressive. Also, does a team need to be in the top 25# to be considered good?
Coaches give record more weight than AP voters, so since the Coaches poll is used in the BCS, BC will be in (over LSU) if they win out. The computers also give no love to LSU as BC is #1 with the computers and LSU is #4.As far as BC goes, even if they go undefeated, I still don't see how they come out ahead of a one loss LSU or undefeated ASU/Oregon due to their opponents win/loss records.
If LSU wins out, they will have a hard time getting in if either ASU or Oregon go undefeated because LSU's opponents keep going down to other SEC teams, hurting their BCS score.
My head is hurting! Man I hope we beat Bama this weekend!

Does Appalachian State count? Oddly enough, MICHIGAN has climbed to #15 in the BCS poll.
Everyone's ignoring the other undefeated team from a BCS conference: Kansas! They have just as good a chance of being undefeated at the end of the season as anyone. They're suffering from being unranked when the season started, but they're in the top 10 now.
Here is a question....Let's say, OSU, Boston College and LSU wins out. HOW in the world do you leave LSU out of the championship game when they will have played a tougher schedule against better teams....??!! DOES being undefeated AUTOMATICALLY give you the right to play for the national championship...EVEN if you might have played a weaker schedule or a played in a "weaker" conference?
HMMMMmmmmmmm....this should REALY get the debate going....
The more I look at this season the more I think you're right about a two-loss team playing in the BCS championship, Salsa. It's very possible an undefeated Pac Ten team could be on the outside looking in, ala Auburn. If LSU runs the table, my vote would be with them to play in the championship. The SEC is just murder this year.

Good point....but again...I think because you go undefeated, does not merit a National Championship Game right.

That's the thing. The SEC has so much parity that any SEC team can beat any other SEC team on any given day. Even after the bloody mess that the SEC has become this season, there are still 5 SEC teams ranked in the top 25.
Also, Oregon already has one loss (Cal) and they play Arizona State this weekend. Then Arizona State has UCLA and USC the next two weeks. That's a hard three weeks.
LSU has Alabama this week then Arkansas at the end of November and if they win out, the SEC Championship game. Those are their three tests.
OSU's looking at Wisconsin this week and then Michigan in a couple of weeks. I think Michigan is good enough to beat them. They got off to a bad start this season, but they've looked a lot better the last month or so.
Interestingly enough, Oregon is in a good position to be in the one loss argument for the title game if they can get past Arizona State and UCLA.
Crap, I've got to stop. There are just too many possibilities. Just make all the conferences play a championship game, then take the conference champs and run a playoff with them.
How can you leave out an UNDEFEATED major conference team ?
Maybe they will take into account that LSU has only one loss because they were given a gift in the previous game that they had lost if not for the 1st down they received keeping thier last drive alive while being a good foot and a half short.
That will probably be a mute point after this weekend, Alabama should beat them
