NCAA Football 2007-08

No wonder my Hurricanes lost today....I just saw THE UGLIEST stat of a start QB I have EVER seen:

Miami (FL) Passing C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT

K. Freeman 1/14 84 6.0 1 3

My 2 year old son could have done THAT!!!

Man, where has the great Miami Hurricanes QB tradition has gone?!:(

1 for 14 ????
WOW ....

The QB tradition left several coaches ago.

Wasn't Rob Chudzinski the Off Coordinator at Miami for a while, or do I have the wrong team ?
He's with the Browns now and was at University of Toledo before that... He's got the Browns going in the right direction now, so maybe HE wasn't the problem down there either....

#1....Ohio State(much deserved)
#2....Oregon(see above)
#3....LSU(ONLY because Oregon beat an undefeated team ranked in the top ten....they beat anyone else....LSU is #2)

When LSU wins next week, they will claim #2.....REGARDLESS of what Oregon does.

I think Oregon may jump LSU this week. If LSU wins out however, they should move back ahead of Oregon because of the fact that they will have played and won a conference championship. ASU may also lose to USC, making Oregons big win this week not so big.

On the other hand, don't forget Kansas! If they win out, they will move ahead of LSU with an undefeated record, plus having played and won a conference championship as well. And since strength of schedule doesn't seem to matter, KU should be ranked #1 then, in my opionion, since they have to play a conference championship as well.

Looks to be an interesting 5 weeks ahead! :D

Another thriller in East Lansing - MICHIGAN steals victory from the jaws of defeat. Sorry MSU, but the more things change there, the more they stay the same. Great team till they lose the first time, and then it's straight down the drain....every season. Stirring comeback, with Henne engineering two 4th quarter drives, to drive the stake into Spartan's fans hearts. See you next year, but I doubt if the result will be any different.

So a Conference Championship means that you can jump others ?
It's just another game to make MONEY, nothing more.
Why should the perticular conference that plays a championship move ahead of another conference that has WON thier conference, ala, the Big Ten and the Pac Ten ?

There is no reason, and you already said strength of schedule doesn't mean anything.
How again does Kansas move ahead of OSU ????

Simple - if you lose a conference championship game, it hurts you. Why wouldn't Kansas, who would take that risk and win, deserve a number one ranking going undefeated in the Big12, which is every bit as competitive as the Big10, especially if SOS doesn't matter?

By the way, it looks like LSU just squeeked the #2 spot ahead of Oregon in both the AP and Coaches polls. That may be enough to drop them to #3 in the BCS behind Oregon. Dam*!

Tell me again why a Conference Championship game makes them better than an UNDEFEATED Big ten or Pac Ten team ???
Because they are stupid enough to play in one when it is NOT nessasary ???

I agree the CCGs are not necessary - believe me. But what if Kansas winds up being undefeated and plays OU for the first time (who may likely be ranked 4 or higher) in the Big12 CCG, and beats them? Wouldn't that be deserving of a #1 ranking just as tOSU, who's toughest games were Michigan and Wisconsin, both with 3 losses? I know SOS doesn't count, but hypothetically?

Because more than likely, you will be playing ANOTHER tough game. Likes I said before, the strength of schedule should mean EVERYTHING and just because you go undefeated for the season, it should not mean automatic bid to the championship game.

I just looked at Kansas' schedule and they not played NO ONE!!
NO Oklahoma, NO Texas and they luck out that the ONLY legit game is against Missouri....and it's at home.

Top Ten....I'll give them that....but they shouldn't be smelling nothing near the top 5.

BCS is out:

1) OSU - .995
2) LSU - .941
3) Oregon - .918
4) Kansas - .843
5) oklahoma - .839
6) Missouri - .743
7) West Virginia - .742
8) Boston College - .698
9) Arizona State -.693
10) Georgia - .607

Looks like my Tigers are back in the big game, for now! :)

And a possible big game against Georgia in Atlanta prior to that. Should be interesting.
LSU would then need to be concerned about a repeat of 2005 when the Dawgs shocked #3 LSU.

IF it was Florida in the top spot or USC in the top spot, whould you be saying that Kansas should be number 1 ???

Again, Kansas does NOT deserve to be in the top five
...they have played NO ONE. That is the disadvantage of having such a huge conference and STILL cannot play everyone in your conference.

The Big-12 is a lot like the SEC this year. If Kansas loses to #6 Missouri, there'll be several one-loss teams going into the championship game. But if Kansas wins out, and beats #5 OU in the championship to stay undefeated, why shouldn't they be #1 or #2?

Don't think I'm not concerned about that. Playing the Dawgs in Atlanta is like playing LSU in New Orleans - not quite a neutral site for either team. Georgia could easily end any hopes of LSU making it to the MNC.

I'm not saying Kansas should be ranked #1 or even #5 now. If they were to go undefeated, then that's a different story.

To answer your question however, if Florida and USC were undefeated at the end of the season (hypothetically of course), as well as Kansas and Ohio State, I would rank them in this order:

1. Florida (by virtue of getting throught the SEC and it's CCG, and, I'll admit, my bias :D)
2. Kansas (by having beaten a one loss Missouri and surviving their CCG, which would probably mean playing a top 5 team)
3. USC (by beating Oregon and ASU - imo both better than Wisconsin and Michigan this year)
4. OSU (out of the four conferences, the Big 10 looks the weakest this year, especially considering last year's poor performance during bowl season).

Now if OSU winds up meeting LSU in the MNC and kicks their arses (or just wins), then I will eat all of the above words with a nice side of crow. Until then, this is how I feel about it. :hatsoff:

Agreed (Again?). Until they beat somebody of substance, I'll group them with all the other pretenders we've seen this season. (BC, South Florida, etc...) For the record, i don't believe that OSU has beaten anybody of worth either, and they're on top only by default. Last season's team was way stronger than this version, and we all know what happened to them.

IF Kansas were to win out...and LSU wins out....LSU, BECAUSE they play in a stronger conference than Kansas is a better team...IMHO.

This is why they suck
