NCAA Football 2007-08

And some of the bottom ones have beaten the top ones - i.e, Mississippi State over Auburn, Vandy over S. Carolina. The mid tier teams are also dangerous - look out for Alabama possibly knocking off LSU in two weeks (although I hope not because that would be most humiliating for my Tigers :().

I'll take Alabama in this one, thus giving LSU 2 losses (actually 3 had the official ruled a 1st down correctly they would not have won last week. The guy was a good 18" short and they gave it to them, PATHETIC

After watching the rankings so far this year, we need a playoff very badly; these polls are so screwed. Both the computer and human polls are a joke. More than normal.

I've been saying that for a while here. Maybe the SEC is the best conference in the land, but I sure wouldn't say it so because they have so many ranked teams. The rankings are just as you said - A JOKE. Michigan proved them all wrong in week one, and it has snowballed all the way to SFU getting a #2 ranking. Who does the voting anyhow? I've read that coach's poll is often sent to an underling to fill out in many cases. How can anyone possibly watch enough football to make an informed opinion on who is better than someone else? Send the conference champions to a playoff, and settle this right.

SID's do alot of the voting for the coaches, there should not be a "Coaches Poll"

Exactly; I even had a buddy call me tonight an say he saw were two of the computer models don't even have USC ranked at all; one at #22 and one at #23 too - WTF? The polls are a complete and udder disaster and I too would not vote my conf being the best or worst based on positions in the polls.

None of these teams should be ranked above USC right now.
5 Oregon
6 Oklahoma
7 West Virginia
8 Virginia Tech
9 Kansas
10 South Florida

Sure:
1 Ohio State
2 Boston College
3 LSU

Maybe:
4 Arizona State
11 Florida (even they should be above 5-10)

I think that Oregon and Oklahoma ARE better than USC....the rest are questionable, I will give you that. AND they(USC) lost to a GOD-awful Stanford team....AT HOME NO LESS!! They deserved a huge drop after that....just like when a decent team defeats a real good team. Arizona State should not be as high as #4 because IF they go opponents and THEIR strength of schedule....ASU has beaten no one.

Rule #1 in NCAA ball; throw out the polls when you play a conf game; at least thats what the other confs say.. And whos to say the pre-season polls didn't overlook Stanford and UCLA? Hell look where the had MICH and ND?

ND was never ranked and Michigan is playing alot better now, but Stanford is still awful and so is UCLA getting killed by Utah and then losng to ND

USC also has played a very weak schedule so far

and Oklahoma?

and BC?

and West Vir?

and Kansas?

and SoFla?

Please, I have looked at all their scheds and they are weaker or as weak? The polls are a disaster and no rhyme or reasoning or truth is used to validate them.

even though Miami is not as good as they used to they are still better than any team USC has played so far

All jokes based on what everyone THOUHGT their power was, based on inaccurate polls; MIA sucks and Texas is/was one of the most over rated teams in the top 15. SoFla is the BIGGEST joke in the top 20. The have ZERO business being there and for sure EVER being #2. That is how flawed the polls are, which then places too much meaning on other games and and other wins & loses and how those teams are affected or how they benefit.

IN fact, the ONLY team NOT under .500 is Nebraska....and they are 4-4. So come to think of it, USC is EXACTLY where they deserve to be. I take back what I said about most of the teams except South Florida.

I think Oregon is better than people are giving them credit for, I think Oklahoma is in the same category.

If I were listing them mine would go like this:

1. Ohio State (zero losses so far)
2. Boston College
3. Oregon
4. LSU ( I think) They will lose again
5. Oklahoma

Thats the top 5, the rest shake out , but don't matter much.

Of course this is subject to change next week as more shuffling will undoubtably happen as several play one another.

Yup, that is how I would have MY Top 10.
