NCAA Football 2007-08

Ohio St. can easily adjust it's schedule to have a week off if it wanted to.

Most teams wind up with a week off, because they like to have their first game around Labor Day weekend, and have their final game against an in state rival on Turkey Weekend. With only 12 games a season, 1 week has to be off. Back when they were limited to 11 games, they usually had 2 off.

I think I remember a few years that OSU had a week off, but nothing in recient memory.
I think they SHOULD play straight thru.
Enough of this scheduling a week off before a big game.

Actually, Ohio State started the first week in Sept. and plays straight thru , 12 games and finishes up the w/e before Thanksgiving. (17th)

Believe it or not, there were quite a few people that predicted that Rutgers would win that game outright and alot of people "in the gambling know" were stating to TAKE Rutgers plus the points.....hhhmmmmmm

The Big 10 is no way tougher than the SEC. Again, just go by the OTHER teams....the "bottom feeders" in the SEC are much better than the Big 10.
Not to mention the fact that you have 7 teams....SEVEN TEAMS in the BCS Top 25.....and the Big Ten.....2. That my friend, say ALOT....

You failed to see my :D:rolleyes: in my original post !

However, your statement IS true at the moment, BUT in the begining of the year it was not and by the END of the year it may not be either (about the 7 teams)

I personally EXPECTED Rutgers to win, I really liked what I saw from Ray Rice last year, think he's a very good RB, although I see many saying he's not as good as expected seeing he's not having a Heisman type year.

Another reason why the Big Ten is tougher than the SEC, PAC SEC and PAC continues to get bye weeks to heal injuries and get thier act together. :o:rolleyes:

Nice one Jimbo. I know you are most likely kidding because of the .

I am a huge Big 10 supporter and am really disappointed that the majority of the teams are having such an off season. It also would not surprised to see OSU going undefeated this year and potentially miss the BCS championship game. Then again I will be surprised if OSU makes it through the rest of the season undefeated.

IF OSU goes undefeated this year, they WILL be in the NC game.
I will feel a bit more comfortable after I see Boekman play against Penn State and MSU. Just not comfortable yet with the 1st year QB, he's looked real good at times and not so good at other times.

OOPPPSSS...sorry, didn't catch the ....LOL. Honestly Jim, polls at the BEGINNING of the season mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING because NO ONE HAS PLAYED ANYONE...!! LOL!! To me the BEST indicator of where teams REALLY stand is the 1st BCS poll...because by that time you more than likely have played your big rival, your big IN STATE rival and half way through your conference schedule....and the LAST BCS poll BEFORE the bowl games...for the apparent reasons.

...
Why is it that the TOP 10 teams in the nation outside of Ohio State have this weekend off ?

Another reason why the Big Ten is tougher than the SEC, PAC SEC and PAC continues to get bye weeks to heal injuries and get thier act together. :o:rolleyes:

This is why the other conferences still play well into Dec and take a few weeks off and play well into the bowl season, while the Big Ten plays 12 straight weeks and finish thier season and suffer every year when the have a month and a half off, the time off between the season and bowl games are rediculous.

I know Iowa State isn't a powerhouse, but OU does play them this week, and they do tend to beat Iowa a lot. :)

And why doesn't the Big-10 have a conference championship game like the SEC and Big-12, and cut out one of those Div-2 non-conference games?

They wouldn't have to cut out any games. The SEC plays 12 games and then a Conference Championship game.

Yes, but like I said, most teams want to play the big instate rival on Thanksgiving weekend. It's traditional to have those games on that weekend, especially in the southeast.

And since they also want to start on Labor Day weekend, it pretty much garentee's an off week.

Not true. Auburn and Alabama have played on Thanksgiving weekend only once and will again. These teams wanted a week off before the SEC Championship game. Now Auburn will have a week off before the Alabama game. Others in the south do play on Thanksgiving weekend most of the time.

Agreed !

Wow, did we just agree ??? :):):):)

Because the Conference championship games is there ONLY so they can make more MONEY, thats all .....
If they didn't decide to cram so many teams into thier conference they would not have a Conference championship game at all.

Ohio State and Mich ONLY play the Thanksgiving Day weekend when there are not enough weeks between Sept and Nov.
Matter of fact, I can't remember when the last time that game was AFTER Turkey day.

All you patsies that need a break between games are just that, PATSIES !

Come up here to the Big Ten where you are TOUGH enough to play EVERY WEEK.

While were at it, how about you Patsy teams that can't handle alittle cold weather, come up here for a change and play football the way it was MEANT to be played.

Oh, no, we can't play in the cold weather, no one would watch it ..... (all you southern teams) :shocked
Seems pretty funny we put OVER 100,000 + in the stadium EVERY week. OSU and M. !

We fans can HANDLE a little chilly weather

Why cut out the non-conference game? All the divisions that have a championship play a 13th game for the championship.

Actually I don't want to see the Big 10 have a championship game. I would like them to drop a non-conference game and actually play all 10 other Big 10 schools. There is no reason that the schools play 3 non-conference games and not all of the teams in the conference.

Indiana, Northwestern, Michigan St. (and what division did that team play that beat Michigan this season) are all power houses.:)

Jag,
that won't happen , it would only give the SEC supremecy more reason to complain, because they would then say, we don't play anyone other than our WEAK sisters.....
