NCAA Basketball 2008-09 Season

Impressive win by UNC.

The Heels and Pitt are the only two team that are locks are #1 seeds.

Even if UNC loses in the quarterfinals (which they won't), they locked up a top seed by virtue of winning the ACC outright.

Who do you see getting the other two?

UConn and Oklahoma have been a bit shaky down the stretch, so that may be a factor.

I'm thinking UConn, Pitt, Louisville and UNC will get the 4 number ones. Memphis is a good team but they do play in a weak conference and I think they should get a two. Oklahoma is a number 2 as well but I could see them sneak in a get a one if UConn leaves the Big East tournament early.

Memphis is no worse than a 2. I'd still take UConn as a #1 over them based on SOS, but we'll see what happens in the conference tourneys. Memphis is the only team not likely to lose next week.

If Louisville win the Big East tournament outright, then they should get a #1 seed, but if they don't and Oklahoma wins their tournament, I see Oklahoma getting the other #1 seed.

Even if Pitt and UCONN loses their first game, they still should get #1 seed.

Pitt yes, UConn maybe. That being said, I like our chances against Syracuse (likely).

Anders, did you pay off any of the voters?!

I'm sorry, but Pitt's win over UConn was WAY more important than UNC beating Duke.

No offense, but when it comes to hated teams, Duke is ALWAYS despised while people always treat Carolina like the good guy and not the villain.

I hope UNC goes down in flames in the ACC Tournament!

Pittsburgh should be #1. Besides, I think the country is tired of the Tar Heels on top.

Yeah we're #1 baby! When you win the greatest rivalry in sports people notice. You might be tired of our success, but America isn't.

Bzzzz. Wrong.

Sorry Anders, but this isn't the greatest rivalry in sports and it really isn't even that close.

I agree, but then again, I think this is a very provincial and regional thing.

I personally think that Yankees-Red Sox is the most intense rivalry in sports. But I don't expect people outside of New England/New York/New Jersey to feel that way.

I do think that the ten top rivalries in sports are (in no particular order):

1. Red Sox-Yankees
2. Redskins-Cowboys
3. Ohio St.-Michigan (football)
4. UNC-Duke (basketball)
5. Packers-Bears
6. Celtics-Lakers (recently renewed)
7. Red Wings- Avalanche
8. Nebraska-Oklahoma (football)
9. Dodgers-Giants
10. Giants- Eagles

I apologize if I left any out (I'm sure I did).
