How high will Memphis rise in the rankings- #2?
That sounds right. My top 5.

1. Pittsburgh
2. Memphis
3. Oklahoma
4. Connecticut
5. Carolina

I still think that UNC will be a 1 seed though. UConn is probably odd man out for that IMO. They still have to go to Marquette and Pitt plus the BE tourney. I'm not sure how good they are now without Dyson. Expect a couple of more L's.

anders, while you are a UNC/ACC guy, which of the other conference tournaments are you looking for?

The Pac-10 tournament will be very wide-open this year. Instead of being UCLA as the clear-cut favorite, there are a string of teams capable of winning (Washington, Arizona State, Arizona, Washington State, California), and I want to see if the rest of that conference can stand up to the bully on the block.

The Pac 10 tournament is sort of a late night snack. I may check out some of those games, but I'm not really looking forward to it. The Big East Tournament will be a war. Unfortunately because of the overlap with the ACC Tournament I usually only see the early round games there. I'm really looking forward to the ACC Tournament though so I will watch as much as I can (unless Carolina loses and then I won't watch anymore basketball until the selections are made and I will do my taxes or something dreadful like that instead). The one that will be just awful is the Big Ten Tournament. If I tried to watch that crap I'd probably quit thinking that baseball is a slow game. :D

Hard to say. Connecticut and North Carolina have much tougher schedules. Can Connecticut really drop just because they lost a squeaker to Pitt? North Carolina has steamrolled teams that are head and shoulders above anyone that Memphis has played.

Counterpoint- Look at the teams UNC lost to. Memphis would beat Mayland or B.C. by at least 20!

Not if they had to play teams like that every night. Carolina DID beat Maryland handily the first time. Memphis doesn't have to worry about teams like Rice or SMU tripping them up.

Memphis is STILL #5?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

UNC and OU lose to UNRANKED Opponents, and they don't drop. WHAT A JOKE!

Contrast that with Wake Forest dropping far after their loss to VaTech.

I guess apparently having a tough schedule is more important than losses on the court, and that is a JOKE!

Memphis should be #2- the voters dropped the ball BIG TIME!

They got #1 right, but it should be Memphis at #2.

UConn loses by double-digits at home- no excuses. They should have dropped.

DID HANCOX PAY OFF SOME AP VOTERS?!

Can't say I'm too surprised, in spite of my own predictions. Memphis just isn't in the same class as the other teams. I bet they wouldn't win more than 10-11 games if they played in the ACC or Big East. Looks like voters feel the same way.

My Tigers are creeping up the polls...# 18! :) Might be a tough team to play in the tourny.

IMO, LSU and Kentucky are the only SEC teams that have a chance to make noise in the tournament.

LSU's 23-4 (that is startling- I never would have guessed they'd have the best record in that conference), and we all know what happened the last time the Bayou Bengals made the big dance:

They're paper tigers for now IMO. LSU is taking advantage of a pitiful SEC, particularly the SEC West. In any event, it looks like Trent Johnson is making an impact so good luck.

Final Four was nice that year, but they burned themselves out getting there. That victory over Duke was worth it though. :)

I'm surprised at them myself. Trent Johnson has done a hell of a job in his first year with the talent that he was left with. They still have to play Kentucky and Florida. I'd like to see how they do in those games before I get too excited about them. They've already earned the #1 seed in the West for the SEC tournament though, so I can't complain. :up

Ironically, it was the "paper tigers" who beat a certain team not-so-popular with anders a few years back in the tournament.

True, but that makes it that much sweeter getting to the big dance and possibly knocking off one of those fatcat teams with the obnoxious fans. Leaves 'em pissed off and hatin' on the SEC. I relish that stuff. :)

Appreciate it. :up
