NCAA Basketball 2008-09 Season

I hate to keep picking on the Big Ten, but as John McEnroe would say "You CANNOT be serious!"

Penn St 38
Illinois 35

WTF

Sounds like an exciting football score but Joe Pa was nowhere to be seen.

Beat you to it, and acknowledged you about it.

Can I pretend the final score was 89-70?

You can pretend if you like.

With about 3 minutes to go and Carolina up 89-70, they started pulling starters, State didn't and as anders said, they scored the last 10 points in garbage time. Carolina has probably had about half a dozen games this year where this kind of scenario has happened. The get 20 or 30 point leads, pull the starters and the bench gives up 6 to 10 points off the lead to make it look closer.

In the long run this helps keeps the players fresher. The flip side has been Coach k at dook* who usually keeps his starters in the game till the end even when they have the big lead in those early season blowouts. For the past several years I feel this has hurt them because starting in February dook* starts struggling. It has happened again this year.

Let me also add, that NC State is an improving team. They've gone to a bigger lineup with a shorter rotation over the last few weeks and they have been a much better team than they were earlier in the season. The won't be pushover or a lock for anybody, especially when the play at home. The first half of tonight's game was very competitive. It wasn't until the 2nd half that Carolina was able to get a big lead.

In other ACC action VT had a costly loss at Virginia and Miami's misery continues with another loss at FSU. Not the results needed if the ACC is going to get 8 teams in the dance.

I thought that was the half time score when I first saw it.

Very light night of watchable games for a Thursday. Starts with my alma mater getting killed by a mediocre ACC team, but for you guys at least it ends with you getting to see the UCLA cheerleaders...

7:00 Duke - St John's ESPN
7:00 Minnesota - Michigan Big Ten Network
8:00 W Kentucky - UALR FCS Atlantic
11:00 Washington - UCLA Fox Sports Net

Enjoy!

I'll be pulling for your alma mater. Every team that plays dook* is my favorite team at that point in time. :D

I'm calling for the upset!

Besides, if South Florida can beat Marquette, if Cleveland State can beat Syracuse, and if Georgia Tech can beat Wake Forest, surely the Red Storm can rise up... right?

I can't believe I thought St. John's could pull the upset.

This is as bad as when I picked the Cardinals to win in snowy Foxboro.
Let's just say I was not impressed with dook tonight either. Although the slobbering about them by the announcers was just nausiating. Musburger actually said that he thought Kyle Sinlger should be a player of the year candidate. :what He's not even all ACC let alone All American or POY! And the boy wonder had 14 points before fouling out.

Seriously?

Blake Griffin, Stephen Curry, that guy from Pittsburgh, and James Harden are more legit choices.

As for my pick for ACC Player of the Year- who's that UNC guy that hits all those three-point shots ala the Orlando Magic?

That could be one of 3 players who shoot a high 3 point percentage.

Ty Lawson - 49.5%
Danny Green - 45.9%
Wayne Ellington - 39.3%

You are probably thinking Ty Lawson, the PG. He is having a great year. Averaging 15.9 points, 6.5 assists and a 3.52 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. He single handily destroyed dook*. They had nobody who could stay in front of him. Lawson is very fast with the ball.

I just realized that the Big East has 4 teams in the top ten: PITT, UCONN, Marquette and Lousiville!! WOW!!! And 6 in the top 25 when you add 'Nova and the 'Cuse.

Serious question....

Who's the bigger geek?
