I've been burned by this before.
In 2002 and 2003, I picked Pittsburgh to win it all. Somehow, they gagged to inferior teams.
DeJuan Blair should be a difference.

Home losses to Northwestern and Penn St? Michigan St was supposed to be the class of the Big Ten. Were it not for futility of the SEC the Big Ten would be the worst conference in the country.
If it weren't for basketball, nobody outside of the ACC would even know you guys exist. This BIG 10 bashing is getting old. It was already old last season. It wasn't like you guys mopped the floor with us in the Big10 - ACC challenge. I seem to remember it was only a game or two difference.
Don't let Anders and his conference-bashing get you riled up. Because unlike football college basketball decides their champion on the court, bickering about conference supremacy is totally meaningless. Maybe he's right, the Big 10 stinks. Maybe he's wrong, and the ACC is over-rated. Who cares what he or anyone else says now, it will all be decided in March.
If someone wants to think conference X is better than conference Y, let them think that. It doesn't even matter which conference is better right now anyway, it matters who is better in March and April.
In football you argue because only two make it to the tournament. In basketball 65 make it, so what's the point of arguing? Let the tournament happen, then we'll all see who is best.

Point well taken. It's just irritating, and I usually just let it go, but this has become an every season thing. We here in Big 10 country enjoy our conference, and interleague play is just as competitive as it is in any other conference, maybe a little more physical, and yes maybe not as flashy as the others, but this the way we like it here in the Midwest. OK maybe we're not as good as the other conferences the last couple of years, but myself and the my other Big 10 fans are tired of getting our noses rubbed in it. These are college athletes, not professional, and they are giving their all every game, and we appreciate this.
Sorry. Rant over.
Next up they get Michigan. What was Michigan thinking when they scheduled this game? They don't want any part of UConn.

First college bball game I sat and watched through in it's entirety this year. Gotta admit, UConn looks good. :upNow THAT is how a # 1 team should play! Thanks to UNC, Dook, Wake, and Pitt (a little) for showing us how it's NOT done
UConn again?
Ugh. They just don't go away.
No offense, hancox, but I'm not a fan of the Huskies.
They are similar to Duke:
1. A coach who gets a lot of media exposure Successful programs generate better ratings.
2. Get a ton of games on TV/ESPN See #1
3. When they have a high ranking, everyone slurps them- before they gag to an inferior opponent (George Mason, anyone?) Slurps?? What the hell is that?? Never mind, I don't think I want to know. Anyway, see #1
4. Star players get all the hype. Ray Allen got just as much attention as any Duke guy ever did. Ditto for Richard Hamilton or Okafor. Um, this isn't anything new. Are you saying the players you mentioned don't deserve "all the hype" they've received for their NCAA and pro careers??
Connecticut finished what they started 68-51. Impressive. Next up they get Michigan. What was Michigan thinking when they scheduled this game? They don't want any part of UConn.

Too bad Michigan's lost 5 of their last 6 and are 4-6 in the Big Ten. If they get throttled by UConn this weekend it all but assures Michigan will be back in the NIT. They don't need to be playing this game anymore than the football team didn't need to play Appalachain St. Bad things happen. The same thing they we're thinking when they BEAT Duke and UCLA this season.

Kind of like NC and the tournament, right? Your guys will choke again.
