NCAA Basketball 2008-09 Season

The Big East is too big. An 18 game schedule and week long conference tournament is too much. They will not get more than 8 teams in the tournament. The middle of the pack teams are going to have 12-13 losses at least.

I agree to a certain extent. But those middle of the pack teams will be alot stronger than alot of upper pack teams in most conferences.

Kentucky vs. Auburn 9pm ;)

Clemson has NEVER won in Chapel Hill, though some believe (myself included) that the Tar Heels may have gotten lucky last year when the refs called a bazillion fouls and gave them a ton of free throws.

Could tonight be the night the streak ends after 53 games?

I say....... no.

That game was awesome! If Clemson was ever gonna break the streak it would have been then. Carolina was short handed without Lawson and was down 19 in the 2nd half. The streak will never end. :D

The only other string of futility for one team in another place this compares to is two Detroit Lions strings of futlity against the Redskins:

1. They have not beaten them on the road since 1935; they were in Boston that year, so technically, the Lions have NEVER won a football game in Washington D.C.

2. They haven't beaten the Redskins ONCE since 1965.

That's bad, but they don't play that often. This streak is 53 and counting, has lasted through 3 buildings and even survived Matt Doherty's tenure. It's the only significant streak he didn't ruin.

Ok, I'm glad to admit that I was dead wrong about tonight's game. This 2nd half has been the best ball Carolina has played since the Michigan State game. The defense has been just great this half.

I'm usually a pessimist when it comes to my sports teams. It always make me uneasy about every game.

Lot of happenings on a pretty wacky night in college hoops:

1. Michigan State lost to Northwestern. First time it happened in East Lansing since 1984. That is incredibly humiliating.

2. Wake Forest loses to Va Tech. It's bad enough that the Hokies have to bore college football fans to tears with their dull style of football, but now they spoil what likely would have been a #1 vs. #2 game with Duke? No offense to my old buddy lancemccaffrey, but SCREW YOU, VIRGINIA TECH!

3. Somewhere, Bob Knight is popping a bottle of champagne

4. The New Jersey Institute of Technology ended their 51-game losing streak. Bryant University is officially a punchline for college hoops fans everywhere.

5. UConn won, but now has to go to South Bend, where Notre Dame has a 45-home game winning streak dating back to 2006 and has had a history of giant-killing. Hancox, let me give you a warning- Irish basketball is NO PUSHOVER! You better have your battle stations ready!

Oh, and as for Clemson- make it 54 losses.

While I have made some nutty predictions, even I wasn't dumb enough to call for the upset. As far as I'm concerned, the Cleveland Browns will win a Super Bowl before the Tigers ever win in Chapel Hill.

Unless Maryland can pull off a shocker on Saturday, Duke will be the new #1 team in the country, which for anders and uncrules means the world is coming to an end.
