You could also make the argument of Indiana over UNC. Indy has 5 National Championships, where the Tar Heels have 4.

I think you could and it is debatable. But I would counter that both UNC and dook* should be higher than Indiana since Indiana hasn't done much since they won their last title in 87. I think they've been to the final 4 only twice since then and both UNC and dook* have many there many times since 87.

UNC is number 2 all time in wins and dook* is 4th. Indiana is around 10th.

Whatever. Half of those are from Indiana who hasn't been a contender in 15 years. Big Ten teams play garbage basketball. Every game is 58-55. Yawn. An ACC-Big East challenge would be interesting. This is like beating a dead horse.

Nice win, but Miami's free throw shooting was terrible. They nearly blew a 20 point lead. Those guys had better work on the free throws while they can or it will cost them later on.

That was a win that was a long-time in coming! That's 2 major upsets for MICHIGAN in this very young season. BTW, outside of NC, the ACC doesn't impress me much this year.

I don't care if the rest of the ACC sucks. I hate everybody else in the ACC. I'm not one of those guys who pulls for the other ACCs teams in the tourny. The only team I care about is the Tar Heels.

Well after the ACC winning the challenge for all 10 years, it's time to get rid of the thing. A Big East/ACC challenge would be more interesting to me. BTW it was more than a nice win. It was a brutal beat down.

Anyway the meaning of a Tar Heel isn't exactly known.

There's a couple of different theories:

One is the fact that tar, pitch and turpentine created from the vast pine forests were one of North Carolina's most important exports early in the state's history.

The other is a nickname given during the U.S. Civil War, due to the state's importance on the Confederate side, and the fact that the troops "stuck to their ranks like they had tar on their heels".

Ramy, how do you feel about Gillispie? He hasn't exactly set Kentucky on fire so far and I've heard rumblings about some personal issues he allegedly has had in the past. I know he was doing well at Texas A&M when you guys hired him but with the way some Kentucky fans felt about Tubby I wonder if Gillispie is already feeling the heat
