NCAA Basketball 2008-09 Season

I give 2 craps about "impressing" anybody on here. The love and spirit I have for my team doesn't rest on whether YOU like them, or ANYONE else, for that matter. And what exactly does NCAA success have to do with the NBA? If they go into the "real world" work-force with a degree, fine. If they go to the NBA, fine. I'm an NCAA basketball fan, not an NBA fan. There's a reason the NBA is struggling these days...it frickin' sucks. Oh, yeah..Why not spend your time supporting your team, instead of trying like hell to bash mine?

The NBA's struggling? Are you kidding me? Very ignorant statement.

Look here; I'm not going to be sucked into (past this point, I suppose) some back and forth, back and forth crap some of you guys thrive on. This has gotten so far off topic, anyways, as it usually does when egos get involved. The bottom line is; I like my team and you folks like yours. "We got spirit, yes we do. We've got spirit how about you?" Have a great day and weekend, everyone!:)

In the seasons of 2004-2005, 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 the NBA posted record highs for attendance. (3 years in a row). Unfortunately as you state, last year ('07-'08) that attendance was down from the previous year. It would be silly to think after just one season of not increasing attendance from the previous year, the NBA is "in trouble". I'm sure the tough economic times may have something to do with this off stat.

Just want to say that I'm glad I found this very knowledgable site! :)

Anyway, the other night my buddies and I were debating what the best college basketball programs of all-time are. Here's my top 20.

1. UCLA
2. Kentucky
3. North Carolina
4. Indiana
5. Duke
6. Kansas

IMO, there's a huge drop-off after the top 6.

7. Louisville
8. UConn
9. Michigan St.
10. Arizona

11. NC State
12. Oklahoma St.
13. Arkansas
14. Syracuse
15. Ohio St.
16. St. John's
17. Cincinnati
18. Georgetown
19. Michigan
20. Oklahoma

OH GOD, your one of those. The kind that cannot take his team taking a little criticism but can muster the testicular fortitude to bash others that bash his....

As the saying goes, "you are not too familiar to these parts"....here, ONE of your teams will have either a crappy game, crappy season, crappy decade and for some, a crappy HALF A CENTURY(Sorry Paul)...either way, if you wanna participate, your gonna have to take it....if not...don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Ok, 2ndly, on the above statement, the NBA maybe struggling in ATTENDANCE, but they ain't struggling where it counts.....at least for them....and that is the bank and exposure.

3rdly, the league is crap because the so-called "great players" being sent to the NBA by the Dukes and the UNCs and the UCLAs of this world are sending good COLLEGE player but crappy NBA players. THAT is what has watered down the league....

.....NOT the NBAs fault....

I can dig it..:up

I see smoke is going to force me to refer to that team from derm the way I normally to dook*. I usually add a * to the end of dook in honor of dook* using an ineligible player, Corey Maggette, who took money while in high school. I know his AAU team was referred to as "Cash N Carry" on the AAU circuit and some college coaches, like Bill Guthridge from UNC, back off of him because of that.

For those unfamiliar with the scandal this is the long and short of it.

Myron Piggie is a former crack dealer and AAU coach who illegally paid Duke player Corey Maggette.

Basically it goes like this:

# Maggette signs waiver that all NCAA athletes sign, indicating that they have not received any payments to participate in their sport
# Maggette plays for Duke his freshman year, then bolts to the NBA.
# After pressure from the law, Piggie admits that he paid Maggette and four other players $35,000 from 1996 to '98.
# Maggette eventually admits that he took money from Piggie. Coach K said he was ready for any punishment the NCAA had for him, but surprise! the NCAA looked the other way.

Dan Wetzel says this in a CBS Sportsline article:

Martin might spill beans that splatter far beyond Michigan - CBS SportsLine

The Piggie scandal even reached its dirty tentacles into the once-pristine world of Mike Krzyzewski's Duke Blue Devils. If the NCAA truly believed in equal punishment for all members, it should vacate Duke's 1999 national runner-up finish from the books for playing the ineligible Corey Maggette

And for that great atmosphere at dook*, how great can it be when they have to have cheer sheets to know how to cheer.

Of course when you have to use cheer sheets, you open it up to being infiltrated and tricked.

HeelsBlog.Com: Read. Recap. React. :: #6: Cameron Crazies get Punked.

In case you missed it, the Cameron Crazies' cheer sheet for the Maryland game got infiltrated by a bogus chant. The Crazies were told that Nik Caner-Medley's girlfriend had a pet name for him, "Piggy," and that her name was "Myra." The object was to get them to chant "Myra n' Piggy," which sounds an awful lot like Myron Piggie, the name of an AAU coach that paid former Blue Devil Corey Maggette while Maggette was in high school. I don't think they ever put the whole thing together, but I did see a 'Piggy' sign, and thought I heard a "Piggy, Piggy, Piggy..." chant.

'JerseyKidatDuke' had instant-messaged 'CheerSheets' with the bogus cheer, and it made its way onto the sheets.

Well, it's time to come clean. I was that 'JerseyKidatDuke.' I hatched the plan when I saw the Crazies' Virginia cheer sheet circulating after that game. The Head Line Monitor (I assume) asked Duke students to submit cheers for the upcoming game against Maryland. I decided I'd try and plant something ridiculous. I registered the 'JerseyKidatDuke' name (can you get any more obvious?) and planted the cheer.

For the other dook* haters like me, here's a fun sight to go to.

The only argument I would have is that UCLA for the most part only had 10-12 good years and most were in one decade and then weren't as good, where Kentucky has been good since the begininning of college basketball.

Anyone see that cheap shot given by Leonard Washington to Blake Griffin's nuts last night in the USC/Sooner game? Make sure you watch all the way through. What a little bastard!
