Well Clemson didn't just lose.. They had the floor wiped with them at home. 51 to 14 with 7 of those points coming in junk time, and FSU taking its foot off the gas in the 4th qtr. had OhioST lost like that to Mich then I could see them dropping 6 or so spots maybe even more since Mich was not even ranked. Clemson only dropped 6 after being completely destroyed because FSU was so highly ranked. If OhioSt would have lost yesterday in a close one, I think theyd still be 6 or 7. If they got blown away like Clemson did then maybe drop 6 spots or more.

I was talking about yesterday. A 4th ranked clemson loses to south carolina and dropped to 11th in the coaches poll today.

Everyone has a good argument, or think they do. ;) College football is just structured in a way that there will never be a fair an efficient way of choosing a true champion. It will always be a " mythical" championship.

When do the BCS rankings come out? :)

Oh I agree and just like the SEC President and every President of an SEC School support an honest to goodness full playoff system so we can prove ourselves on the field. It seems though the weaker conferences prefer having the 2 teams for the title game picked magically.. Then get mad when the SEC beats there pick every time... ;)

But they went from a one loss (bad loss) to a two loss. The drop is understandable.

Who should they be ranked ahead of that they are not ?

Well they had to drop to at least 7 to get past the 1 loss teams, then they had to drop past SC who beat them, then the 1 loss baylor, 1 loss Mich State, so then you can just pick between Oregon, Arizona State and clemson for 11,12,13 really doesnt matter for any of them. Give Arizona state a lil bump for winning its division maybe? Either way it seems to be a good place for them,

They were 6th in the AP and 4th in the coaches and dropped to 13 and 11 respectively.

Who should they be ahead of in the 2 loss teams? The coaches put them ahead of Oregon and Arizona St, the AP have them behind. As I said those 3 spots can go either way and it will not matter.

My argument is not about that at all it is comparing OKS vs Alabama. My whole argument was why Alabama should stay ranked ahead of them. That is all.

You bring up AnM and LSU tell me who AnM is ahead of that they shouldn't be? What about LSU? Ill give you maybe Oklahoma with LSU but I dont see anyone else.. But even then they are both so far down the rankings are not going to matter for either teams.

And yes they DO play a tougher schedule. Just look at the OOC records and bowl records. The SEC has had the best record in the bowls for the last 7 years, oft the major conferences (there is a year where the mac had a better win % but only had 2 games). Everytime the game is played on the field the SEC wins the overwhelming majority of the time. The numbers dont lie.

Ok, you meant OK St, not Ok, they stink and can't play a bowl game to save thier name, even worse than Ohio State.

I get so tired of the we played a better OOC or regular schedule ...
Each of your teams played cream puffs, as well, but you conveniently forget about that (not you personally, sec fans in general) not ALL of the sec is top teams. after the top 3 your very avg. each year, the teams change yearly so it looks stronger than it really is.

and you keep bringing up a different argument. NO they don't play a tougher schedule, that's the little myth you have stuck in your head and has been said before no one gives two craps about the bowl games anymore unless it is the title game. The kids get a nice trip and couldn't care less about playing a football game. The bowl games aren't prepared for much more than the nfl pro bowl game. It's about applying equal weight to every team when deciding on these rankings, which isn't happening, otherwise viewership and stadium attendance is going to keep falling for all but a dozen or so teams.

Using the Coaches poll LSU was as high as #6 in week 5. They lost and next week dropped to #11... a 5 point drop... not much worse then Clemson when you consider that was 1 loss LSU vs second loss for Clemson.

Hell, I was and still am against the Conference Championship game all together, till the conferences decided that they wanted half the country in them, you didn't need them and it was just a way to make more money for the conference. which is still true.

What criteria would you use then? That's what we have. Head to head and end results.

True, and I gave my reasons against Michigan then, you were there so might remember.

Ya, I was there .. and I remember somewhat, but am not wasting my time going back to them either.

Fwiw, The Ohio State has a much better team the last 2 years than back then and a MUCH better coach.

Then since we are going in circles I would love for you to go back to your original argument (the one I have been talking about this whole time) and tell us why Alabama should be behind Oklahoma state.

Outside of the top 2 spots, ranking doesn't matter anyways .... teams will get thier shot at BCS games according to who the particular GAME wants .

Is there a cut off point in the polls for a BCS game, isn't it like 12 ?

At the end that's correct.

Right now it may still matter. Hence the discussion.

The 12 is only for the non-AQ teams like say Notre Dame etc.. but the major conferences I believe can be any rank and still get picked. But if say NIU or Notre Dame or UCF were to be in top 12 they would be automatically qualified for a BCS bowl and have to be placed in one.

I think your right, wasn't the Big East champ last year only like #17 ?
