Lane Kiffen is on the short list of OCs... His track record as an OC is good, as an HC not so much. and Baylor
OC Phillip Montgomery

I want nothing to do with Lane Kiffin plus I think with his whole situation will be a big distraction.

I would love to run the Baylor offense here, of course I'd rather have Art Briles doing it.

Insider, what do you think of Urban Meyer now 3 years out from his resignation?

I have to say the more I think of it the more I think he was a coward and a liar, I believe he wanted nothing to do with the grind of coaching week in week out in the SEC. The way and shape he left the program in to me is unforgivable.

I agree completely. It is a good coach because he surrounds himself with good people and let them do what they do best. I think the SEC was way to much for him though I mean he won the SEC east, Lost to alabama went to a BCS bowl and still that was considered a failed season. I think to much was expected of him, and to much pressure for him to handle. Could be due to us fans though as the things he did for us other schools would be estatic.

I'm sure Gator fans would be ecstatic if he were there doing that same thing now, having had a taste of the other side. ;)

There are a lot of fans at LSU that want Miles gone. IMO, consistent 10 win seasons with a chance at a NC are far better than those 5-6 win seasons (or worse) we went through before Saban turned things around. Who knows what a new coach would do, credentials or not. Just look at Muschamp.

You can clearly see that Meyer doesn't care about discipline because two of players threw punches, were thrown out the game and he said he will not suspend.

fake teams in the top 25
Fresno St
Northern Illinois
Louisville
Duke

3 out of 4 will be beat in their bowl games if they play any other team within 5 spots of them or higher.

I disagree with Duke and possibly Louisville.Duke has certainly earned their ranking. They may get spanked by FSU,but most teams do this year.

Was this a very lackluster year of college football,or was it just me?Besides a few conference match ups and rivalry week, the whole season seemed like weak match ups.Games like Alabama vs Chattanooga, and Georgia St,FSU vs Bethune Cookman, and Idaho.I'm not singling out those 2 schools, all the top ranked teams had at least 3 powder puff scheduled games.Unless and until the NCAA changes to a true playoff system this trend will continue, everyone will try to schedule as soft a schedule as possible to stay unbeaten.

While I've never been against a limited playoff, what makes anyone think an expanded playoff system would do away with a cupcake schedule?

If anything, your top schools and conferences will expand on it.

For example, why would bama play va tech as an opener in a top 16 playoff season, and vice versa.

Hell, replace that game with a gimme home game, reduce the risk of loss, make money and the playoffs and call it a day.

Hmmm, I find it odd that the Buckeyes players should be suspended but NOTHING happens to the Michigan players that started the whole thing, after all they threw punches as well and ripped the helmet off the Buckeyes player ... and more than the 1 player that did get thrown out were involved, but it's fine apparently ... not a word has been said or done or even questioned.

None of this would have even started had the Wolverine players not surrounded the ball carrier and not allowed him to get back up without being pushed around .

if they were forced to play each other in season it would be much more interesting imo

this set up they have now is_____. they keep talking about 64 teams what a joke there are 24 to 32 teams tops. these teams need to dump the ncaa go it alone and put out the best product that's there. let them rest have these dumb bowls and the ncaa. imo they would die off after a decade or two. not a bad thing.

to start it off. take the top 24 teams from this year put them in 6 divisions for the next year.
they play 2 games at the start of the next season outside the 24. these games do not count in the division standings or playoffs. they could be used to eliminate teams from the 24 and add a new member to the mighty 24. like soccer does in other countries.

the 24 teams play 11 or 12 games against each other. the 6 division winners get to the playoffs top 2 get a bye.

those undefeated seasons would be rare imo

Jimbo, you are thinking of the call. The call by refs means nothing in my post. As a coach, you have to set discipline on your team...something Meyer is not and never has been good at. Look at the 31 arrests to players at UF during his tenure as coach.

I'm just pointing out that everyone is in an uproar over Meyer not suspending the guy, while I don't hear anything about the M guys getting suspended , if the Buckeyes guys have to be suspended, why not the guys that started the thing ?

It looks like everyone wants Hall suspended for flipping the bird, not the on field actions.

While I don't agree with someone flipping the bird, I also didn't know it was grounds for suspending a player.

That said, if you were Meyer, or any other coach for that manner, you would not voluntarily suspend your STARTING O Line men either unless told he had to in your BIGGEST game to date ...

Other coaches were asked about it and all agreed with Meyer.

Fwiw, it was left in the Big Ten offices to determine any further discipline, they said it was covered ... according to the rule in the ncaa, if your thrown out in the first half of a game, your covered, if your thrown out in the second half, you miss the next game.

Both Hall and Wilson missed about 3 quarters of the game.

Btw, this is nothing like being arrested, there were no laws broken.

Same reason basketball teams do it, money & exposure.
If anything, a 16 team playoff would encourage it, as the risk of losing a high profile game like that won't hurt your playoff chances like it does now.

Basketball is a different animal, and the regular season is so littered with meaningless games, there has to be a bright spot or two on the schedule (still isnt for all teams). Even with a big game or two you might get left out after a 20 win season for a team that won 14 or 15 and has a worse strength of schedule.

As to encouraging it, I simply disagree. Were this season a 16 team playoff year, Va Tech would be in much better shape this season with a win over say South Alabama vs a loss to Alabama. They are just outside the top 25 and could very well be in the mix without an extra meaningless loss.

I disagree. A 16 team playoff would have all the conference champs, so that's 10 slots already, with 6 at lathes avail. There's no way VPI gets one of those. If anything, the SEC would get 2.
Meaningless wins do not help get an at large.

Jimbo..If you think it is no big deal, then that is you. But REGARDLESS of who started it, any of players throws a punch, they are sitting...

Also, I am not comparing this to arrests, but clearly discipline is not his strongest attributes.

From what I saw of the action after the play, at least half of the UM team should have been kicked out of the game and not so sure that ANYONE on tOSU team should have been. I guess the officials of that game were ok with kind of behavior, so they should be reprimanded and suspended until they prove they recognized what a mob action is and how to deal with it.

As to tOSU not suspending any players, I cannot see any reason for them to be, since last I heard, self-defense was not against the law in this country and it was apparent a mugging was about to ensue.

Oh Geez. LOL! Nevermind...

In 2006, before taking over at Ohio State, Urban Meyer argued his then fourth-ranked, one-loss Florida Gators should jump over Ohio State, USC, and Michigan to play in the title game because those teams didn't have as tough a schedule. (Via The Cleveland Plain Dealer)

He said, "We're going to tell a group of young men, who just went 12-1 in a most difficult schedule against six ranked opponents, that they don't have a chance to play for a national championship? I'm going to need help with that one." (Via ESPN)
