NCAA 2013 Football Season

The kicker that missed all game was not the one that took the last kick.

Personally id have made the same call. It was statistically safe. Take a shot. Make it and win, don't make it and its OT. Fluke return, and they lost. Only the fourth time in history that one has been returned like that.
Backup kicker kicking a GW 57 Yard FG and the starting kicker couldn't even kick a 35? I would have just kneed the ball and go into OT.

Alabama had traditionally (recent past anyway) used two kickers. One for normal kicks, one for long attempts.

While Griffith had only been one for two on the season and it only a 20 yarder, he was listed as our long kicker. He reportedly hits them from sixty+ in practice.

Being that Foster was off, it's the best call to make if going to attempt one.

The problem here was not covering. Not the call to attempt it. Even missing, it's a low risk play, or should have been.

I hate to use the same argument as last time, but yalls loss is worse than ours. It just is.

Had Bama lost to (for example) a sub par Miss State team, then they wouldn't sniff the top five. They didn't they lost to a top 4 Auburn team on a freak play (still a loss, no excuse).

Ok States loss is to a team on par with State (actually this may be giving them too much credit as state is bowl bound), and nowhere near the level of Auburn. Call it SEC bias if you want, but they will be ranked behind them (my guess) because of the nature of the loss. No other reason.

Bullsh!t and Bias nothing more, nothing less

One could honestly say the same about your stance.

I do understand it, but I also disagree with it fully.

AUBURN AD Jacobs calls possible SEC national championship snub 'un-American'

http://www.oanow.com/sports/college...cle_5ffe0f24-5aac-11e3-8a61-0019bb30f31a.html

the winner of the SEC championship game belongs in Pasadena,” Jacobs told ESPN radio host Mike Lupica this morning.
“It would be, quite frankly, un-American for us not to get a chance to go to Pasadena

Jacobs said. “We’ve won seven-straight BCS titles, and a one-loss team that wins in Atlanta belongs in Pasadena. It’s just that simple.”

Might as well admit its going to happen. Auburn nearly jumped Ohio St in the coaches poll, only 25pts separate them, and really a 3 loss LSU is still in the top 15

Quite honestly, since Alabama's lose came later than Oklahoma St's, then I'd put Alabama behind Oklahoma St. My top 5 would have been:
1 - FSU
2 - Ohio St.
3 - Auburn
4 - Missouri
5 - Oklahoma St.
6 - Alabama

As it is, I don't think Alabama has any right to be in the Championship game. If Ohio St. loses next week, then it should be the winner of Auburn & Missouri. If Duke makes a deal with the Devil (Blue one of course), and wins along with Michigan St., then I'd have the SEC winner play against Oklahoma St.W

Especially since most of the Tide's arguments 2 years ago was their loss was earlier in the season, and how late loses should hurt a team more.

Then he shouldn't have lost a game. Unless you have a perfect record, you've screwed yourself.

As it is, Auburn will not jump Ohio St. A majority of voters in none of the polls will vote for a 1-loss Auburn over an undefeated Ohio St. Especially the Coaches who value record over hype.
Break out the numbers in the Coaches Poll, and you'll see that the number of #2 votes Auburn got are roughly the number of voting SEC coaches. The other conference coaches are not playing along.

Who ever made that argument? No tide fan I knew.

We focused on the loss itself but not on when it happened.

Yeah, I saw the breakdown, but there is a lot politicking going on in the media and the media sway is what I am afraid will happen.

REALLY, REALLY ?
,
They are gonna say that they deserve to be there because of thier past ?

Hmmm, OSU just went 24-0 and people say that what we've done doesn't have any bearing, but he wants this ?

Yes, they can go to Pasadena, as long as they buy tickets !

Shouldn't make a bit of difference if you lose at the beginning of the year or the end when it comes to these things.

A late loss usually counts more than an earlier loss because early in the season a team is still jelling, while late in the season they should be seasoned, ergo a late loss usually counts more.

If tOSU and FSU win their championships, they are in the BCSCG, and rightfully so as the only two undefeated teams from a "major" conference, weak or not. If there are no undefeated teams after next week, then the one loss teams should at least be one loss conference champions. If not, the regular season is meaningless IMO. An 8 team playoff would resolve all of this.

Still shouldn't matter ... when you look at a teams record, if they lost early it still shows up as a loss.

IF thats the case, then you cannot possibly lose your last game and still get in.

That last game is suppose to be your toughest game of the year for your conference championship.

Exactly. If you can't win your conference, you shouldn't be allowed to compete for the national title, mythical as it is.
