Hmm, a few weeks ago, Ohio State played and won while Clemson won and passed Ohio State.
This week Clemson wins but looks bad, Ohio State rolls and they Don't move past Clemson ...

So when Clemson ROLLS up big scores on a team its good and they move up but when OSU does, it doesn't matter ...

Can't wait to get rid of these stupid polls.

Committing crimes ?
How did you get that out of what I said ?

Personally, I think the Pressure of Harmon has gotten to him.

I don't think that's the case, I still think he is still getting his experience, after the ND game everyone had him as the next big thing. I think he has only had 13 starts has a bit more to learn. I think he will be fine, maybe his play right now will silence all those that had him leaving after this season for the NFL

I don't disagree with the rankings.

Clemson has beaten another top ten ranked team in Georgia.

Ohio states biggest game is a sub par cal. This roll was also against Florida A&m, I don't see that as a jump worthy win over another team that also won against an ACC team.

Polsters didn't miss it, both dropped them 3 spots. I'm surprised UGA didn't drop as well due to their game, probably should have.

Bama maybe as well. They are getting votes for past success and the A&M win. (the win is valid of course)

Then again so far this year I don't see anyone I'd put over them except maybe Clemson.

If Bama wins this week they have the best claim to it this far though.

?Dont worry FLA won and dropped it happens.

Plus the polls and their fluctuations are meaningless this early. Things will shake out later as more teams have more real games. Clempson still have a couple top ranked teams left to play. Unfortunately not so for some of the other top 10 teams.

?Can't wait til we have a real 16 team playoff.

I'm not for a 16 team playoff at all. A four is fine with me, I'd consider 8.

Are you trying to say VT has the #2 defense in the country? I dont even know if they have the #2 defense in the ACC, let alone country.

Not trying to say anything, before yesterday's game they had the #2 defense in the country according to ESPN. Now this number is obviously different now after the Marshall and the game in the Rain Bowl we just had.

Thats not the point, you gotta look at each week, you cant say because Clemson beat a good team in week whatever that it makes a poor performance this past week OK and they should stay in the same position ....

Had OSU played crappy and won, they would have dropped, Clemson didn't.

They played NC State.
NC State is no better than the teams the Bucks beat previously, other than FAM which doesn't belong playing anyone in division 1.

But what signature win does Ohio St. have this season? If we compare Clempson & Ohio St.'s schedules so far then the Tigers come out on top. Later on who knows. That's why I don't care for early season polls.

Polls go week to week, not what have you done for me this year, if that was the case, a good win would count each week regardless of what you doing curently.

Like others have said, polls dont really mean anything at this point, .... Unless your #1 or #2.

Remember, you dont know how good a team will be 10 years out when they are scheduled.
Cal was a top team when tOSU scheduled them, it was Cal or Stanford and Cal was the better choice at the time.

As for F a&m, I know why they are there, but still dont know why. They were put on the schedule as a favor, as tOSU paid them almost a Million dollars. thats a quarter of thier budget for the year.

That said, Im tired of the Charity OSU gives to these teams yearly, except for the home state teams.

That all ends when the playoff scenario starts i believe.

Bama and Oregon each have only one opponent left on their schedules that have a remote chance of defeating them, and those games are in November. That's when poll placement will matter.

I'd have agreed with you if this was last week.

After our subpar play Saturday, I'd say we are beatable, and the ole miss game is dangerous.

No the season gets tougher for The U as conference schedule starts. Savannah State practice game is over and done with.

I wish I could agree with that, but unless all Div-1 schools HAVE to do it, schedules will still be loaded with "patsies," they will just sub in lesser conference teams in lieu of the lower rung division schools they now play, if it changes at all.

As you point out, FAMU was guaranteed a min of 900k for feeding the frenzy and their admin has no reason to want that to change, so they want that to continue, even if it means their teams are humiliated on national TV (the admins are prostitutes, very well paid ones, but still prostitutes.)

Guess we will see what really will happen when the playoff format polls are constructed. :(

Not with only 4 slots in the playoffs. You need at least 8 spots to make it legit (I prefer 16). With the number of "power" conferences standing at 5, and many times one or more conferences having 2 top teams, it needs to be more than 4 teams.

I would prefer them start with 8 as well, but I can see it going to 8 in 4-5 years and going up to possibly 10-12 in the next 10-15 years.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Ole Miss has won only once in Tuscaloosa, and lost 11 in a row there. And for some reason, the Rebels are playing back to back games in Tuscaloosa for the first time in 80 years. I'm starting to believe those rumors of that Bama alum on the SEC rescheduling committee two years ago when A&M and Missouri joined. ;) :D
