We are inconsistent. Defense is good. Offense is bad.

Offense is good defense Is bad

Neither is good so far against lesser competition.

We may win three in a row and I know it's a let down game this week, but I ain't feeling it.

I tell ya, after sitting thru a tropical downpour for three over time sets and watching the weirdest game to start out with an amazing special teams display from VT today, bland offense (to start with) and the #2 defense in the country pretty much shut down Marshall after the 1st half I'm just kinda in a daze. It rained so damn hard in that game that it was coming in all directions for about an hour!!

Congrats VT on #700 win of all time!

Are you trying to say VT has the #2 defense in the country? I dont even know if they have the #2 defense in the ACC, let alone country.

I was one of those poor kids. I got a full ride but I was not even allowed to work a part time to have some laundry money, or to occasionally take a girlfriend to a movie. And if I had to home on emergency, forget it. You can assume all you want, but I lived that life and it was not easy some many of you think it is. Sent from my SGH-T999 using SatelliteGuys

You cant take your GF to a movie or get home to visit family? Oh man that had to of been rough. Tell that oh woes me story to the kid who also cant do the same but when graduates has 50k in debt...

So I never would celebrate a player being injured speically a season ending injury.. But I can not say I am upset to have Tyler Murphy as the new starting QB after that performance and clinic he put on today. He was what Driskel should have been. After watching the first part of the game with Driskel under center I was screaming and yelling and laughing at how bad we looked on offense. Driskel goes down, Murphey steps in and all of a sudden we looked like a dam SEC team again. Our defense was solid the whole game as usual, and even being down 6 Defense starters toward the end of the game (2 ejections and some injuries) they held on strong (I know it was against a new starting qb for Tenn but they did what they had to)

Next 2 weeks we should have a pretty easy time with Kentucky and Arkansas (putting us 3-0 in SEC play) before taking on our biggest SEC challenge so far this year in LSU.. This game will really determine our fate in the SEC East. Win and we stay alive, lose and well we would have to beat both USC and GA to secure the SEC East. Tough road. I am glad though we have these two games before LSU since now we have a new starting QB and we have some defensive super stars who need a rest before LSU.

First part of this game today I was feeling bad about our season, after the change at QB and watching that kid play I have a new found hope we might sneak in for the SEC title...

Thats beautiful. Oh and it's live via my sister.

His Dad had him convinced that he could go pro...I didn't share his optimism.

Couldn't he have bypassed football if he knew he wouldn't make pro and wanted a different career path? Even if he had aspirations of pro ball, wouldn't most kill for that chance then also have the opportunity to do what every other student has to do.

He made the choice to play , if he wanted to do something else, I fail to see how that's anyone else's fault or decision.

A NCAA college scholarship should not come with a vow of poverty. They're playing sports, not studying for the priesthood. It's like the hypocrisy of "amateur" sports in the Olympics. Everybody knew those athletes were getting money on the side,& the US was the only country playing "fair/by the rules." Name any other college scholarship that is as restrictive as the NCAA in regards to being able to work on the side while going to school. The only restriction for the Georgia Hope Scholarship for the the under privileged is that they maintain a certain grade point average. It doesn't restrict their being able to work or penalize them when grandma sends them money for Christmas or their birthday. Do college athletes on NCAA scholarships get penalized for accepting birthday &/or Christmas "gifts?"

It also doesn't cover all your books, housing, or 3 meals/day. All of which the full athletic scholarships do. And athletic scholarship recipients are allowed to get gifts from relatives, just not "gifts" that are out of the norm (ie. money funneled through relatives). Besides, players are allowed to get part-time jobs. They just can't be "jobs" where they really don't do any work. Just get a summer job like many of us did in college.

Yep. One of my best friends from high school went to Michigan State on a full ride basketball scholarship. He had a part time job all the way through college.

I had several friends on the football team at Southern Miss, and one at Ole Miss. All also had part time jobs.

Ya but college Athlete scholarship covers EVERYTHING. Food, books, anything and everything they need to get by. The other scholarships you speak of do not. You also have the chance to still work in the off season and different times for certain extra money. You work by choice if you want something extra. Where as the kids in the other scholarships you mention work and do school because they HAVE to. They need to buy food, books, housing etc in many cases. The Atheletes job to pay for his food, books, school, room and board etc is simple play the game, That is your job to cover your education. Unlike if say I wanted to go to school id have to work my ass off just to get by and do school and still come out of school in debt.

And yes you can get gifts and money from family. Look at Johnny football. His family is rich and he has no problem throwing that money daddy gives him around.

Not a single post about UConn pushing Michigan pretty damned hard, and on mostly-national TV? Really?

I completely missed it.

I watched it, close game. UConn played well, Michigan's offense is having many issues right now with QB play

So, the M QB Gardner changed jerseys to Honor Tom Harmon ...
Thats not much of an Honor at this point .... how long till Gardner goes back to his old number and apologizes to Mark Harmon ?

The team's running game (O-line) are not very good, the D-line is not stopping the run or putting pressure on the QB, and the QB is making a lot of turnovers...not a very good combination for winning a Big Ten title. The only positives are the secondary is very good as too is the kicking game. The Wolverines have a bye week so I'm hoping they can engineer an O-line and D-line when they kickoff the Big Ten season in two weeks versus Minnesota.

Another very close scare for Michigan this year, 2 weeks in a row.
