Sabathia's losing it in the seventh. He has given up three runs and hits to five of the first six batters he's faced.

The beat goes on. The Red Sox have now batted around, with Ortiz getting his secont hit of this seven run (so far), seventh inning.

Since 79 last world series. 5 in total.

Last playoff appearance was 92.

And your team ?

Tigers '84 last WS Win, '06 played in it.
Steelers several times in the last 10 ...
Red Wings Several times in the last 10 and more just outside of that range.

I thought you were just talking baseball since this is a baseball thread. How many WS wins does the Tigers have??? Wait I'll look it up......4........still one behind the Pirates.

Just because you make it to the championship doesn't mean anything, no one remembers the losing team.

You know I was joking when I said I hope the cubs don't win hence the "lol" I put at the end. So I'm done with this topic just let it go jimbo.

Before any Bostonians tout Jed Lowrie as an All-Star, please note that after hitting .368 in April, he hit only .261 in May and is presently hitting .167 in June.

Lowrie has missed the hit caravan today. Through six, the Red Sox are 14 for 31, (.452) but Lowrie is hitless and down to .279 for the season and now .160 for June. Do the Red Sox have another option to send him to the minors? If Scutaro gets a hit in his next at bat, he'll have a higher batting average than Lowrie.

Meanwhile, Nancy Drew's 16 RBI have cost the Red Sox nearly $400,000 per RBI this year. Must be nice to work in the front office of a team where you can blow a hundred and fifty milliion on two bad contracts (Drew, Lackey) and not get fired.

On April 15th, the Red Sox had the worst record in all of MLB at 2-10.

Since then, they have gone 36-16, and only the Phillies have a better record in all of MLB (39-26 vs. 38-26).

They's looking damn good.

The Red Sox of the last 50ish games are the Red Sox team many had as a solid pennant pick.

Pedroia, Youkilis, Crawford and Nancy are all hitting well below expectations, and Salty is hitting the .250 that Red Sox fans had hoped he would hit, and yet the Red Sox are the best offensive team in the league. Welcome to the post-steriods era, when five runs per game leads the league.

Scoring 5 runs a game SHOULD win you games, wouldn't you think ?

After another win today, Jon Lester's career record is now a gaudy 70-27.....currently the best winning pct. in the history of MLB (minimum 50 decisions). This kid's legacy just keeps growing.

Source: Manny Ramirez owed payment

By Molly Knight

ESPN The Magazine

The cash-strapped Los Angeles Dodgers must pay Manny Ramirez $8.33 million by June 30, a source said on Monday.

The polarizing slugger is due the deferred money from the $42 million contract he signed with Los Angeles before the 2009 season. The Dodgers traded him to the White Sox last year but still owe him an additional $8.33 million in 2012 and $8.33 million in 2013. Ramirez retired in April after failing his second drug test in three seasons...

Dodgers owner Frank McCourt had to draw advances against the team's corporate sponsorship deals to meet his June 1 payroll obligations. Last week, USA Today reported that McCourt had the funds to meet payroll on June 15. The Dodgers, through a spokesman, declined to comment on the money owed to Ramirez...

I am hoping they fall short on payroll. Although I do not believe MLB should have the right to take control of a team, I do want to see McCourt go bye-bye

But, what's the alternative?? I'm sure legally it's allowed.

It would only be a move to make sure payroll is met. They would work to facilitate the sale of the team in the meantime...

I know it is legally allowed. I just do not believe it should be legally allowed.

Alternative would be to let the team fail on its own which would then force McCourt to sale.

Not meeting payroll would be letting it fail. MLB would ensure that the payroll is met.

This way, McCourt wouldn't drag his feet while his employees go without.

Another quality start by Wakefield tonight: 7 innings, two runs: one earned, the other abetted by two passed balls. Unfortunately, he has been relieved trailing 2-0, so he can't get a win even if the Red Sox come back.

Because yesterday was an off-day for the Red Sox, Wakefield could have been bypassed today since Beckett last pitched on Friday, but the Sox kept him in the rotation. I predict that one day, the Red Sox will retire Wakefield's number. He deserves that.
