Q: What in the world happened to Hanley Ramirez?! Just a year or so ago, wasn't he supposed to be the next best thing in baseball?! Now he's barely sniffing a .200 batting average. In the NL.

There are some SERIOUSLY ungly rumors going around about coming into spring training 30 pounds over weight, no real focus and the worst only, "average bat speed at best". Supposedly, those and often injured, are the signs of a player coming off of the juice. We shall see.

My point was that career-wise it would have been better if he was fired, as opposed to quitting. Managers/coaches who get fired get re-hired all the time. Managers/coaches who quit usually aren't heard from again, at least in those prominent positions....

Well.... Edwin is a very honorable and all around nice guy. I think he feels he might have lost the clubhouse, which is a much worst reputation that resigning.

Their replacement...... some 80-year-old who hasn't coached since Nixon was in office!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't this the year the Marlins HAD to build momentum since they will be moving into their new stadium next year? Tax payers must be miffed.

Also, at some point...the ownership has to take some blame. This team has had some great players that have been traded for prospects. Not because they were losing money, a report earlier in the year PROVED they were lying, but for the fact of not wanting to spend money. Sooner or later, you gotta spend money to make money. Yeah, there are the occassional teams that win with a low payroll...but that is not the norm. And besides, the fan base and tax payers do not want to spend Yankee or Red Sox money, they want the ownership to spend something in the middle of the road.

80 year old Jack McKeon is taking the helm with the Marlins. Obviously an interim hire.

It seems like the last few hires have been interim ones. It's about time they bite the bullet and go after someone legitimate like Bobby Valentine.

The O's haven't seen a lot of success so far since hiring Showalter, but at least they have some stability and experience to build on...

Ya, he could have collected Unemployment too !

The pinging Red Sox have scored 14 runs tonight without the benefit of a homer. They forced four runs across the plate: two by bases loaded walks and two by batters being hit by pitches with the bases loaded. Pretty sorry pitching by San Diego.

The Red Sox start a nine game road trip through Pittsburgh, Philly and Houston starting Friday, and are considering putting Adrin Gonzalez in the outfield in some of the games.....just to keep Big Papi's bat in the lineup.

DON'T DO IT TITO. IMHO, it's not worth a potential injury to your best player.

I agree. That will also give the Sox a defensive liability at two positions. :(

Don't mess with the best player in the game right now. You don't really need either of them to win games against Pittsburgh or Houston. I'd give AG a day off in each of those series, just to keep Ortiz mentally with it, I would find a way to get either one of them an at bat in the games he does not start.

Yep, the NL park thing worked out better for the Sox when Youk was the 1B and Lowell/Beltre was the 3B. The Sox didn't miss a beat defensively when Youk moved across the diamond. (This certainly doesn't mean that I'm disappointed that A-Gon is on my team).

He went from "can't miss prospect" to a bust so far in his major league career. BUT, he is young enough to bounce back. Maybe a change is what he needed.

He's HAD a change already, this will be the next one.
Started in Detroit, but I don't think they gave him much of a chance, he was part of a Big Trade, now I see he's with the Sox, thats good, maybe he'll make it work this time.

I like him, kinda wish the Tigers hadn't traded him.

Tigers dealt with the same issue, going to the NL parks, Alex Avilla hitting very well, moved from catcher to 3B for a game or two to keep his bat in the game, while Martinez caught those games.

Both are hitting above .300 or very close for Avilla (.305), I Know Martinez (.324) is.

I never felt good about the Red Sox putting Manny in left to keep one more bat in the line-up. For that matter, I never felt good about them putting Greenwell or Rice there, either. The Red Sox used to field a team of half a dozen designated hitters and then find places for them to play.

Since we've seen the quieter, more civil side of Mark Cuban, and how much the Mavs love him as an owner, you would think most Dodger fans would approve:

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban calls the Los Angeles Dodgers' situation a "mess," but he hasn't ruled out making a run at the team if it is put up for sale.

"I have an interest in Major League Baseball for the right deal," Cuban said in an interview with TMZ.com. "But it's just such a mess, right? I can't imagine that it's not going to be such a mess that it's [not] going to make it hard to turn around."
