Vontae Davis: NFL’s best cornerbacks are in Miami

Posted by Michael David Smith on August 26, 2011, 9:49 AM EDT

Which NFL team has the best cornerbacks? You might say it’s the Jets, with Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie. Or the Eagles, with Nnamdi Asomugha, Asante Samuel and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

But in the admittedly biased view of Miami’s Vontae Davis, the best pair of cornerbacks in football are himself and Sean Smith.

“I’m going to go out on a limb and say we’re the best tandem in the league,” Davis said.

Davis was asked whether he could really put himself and Smith ahead of Revis and Cromartie, and he insisted that he could.

“You name them all and I’m putting it out there,” Davis said.

Dolphins coach Tony Sparano supported his player’s brash talk.

“I like to hear it,” Sparano said. “I think they need to play with swagger. They need to play with confidence and those two guys have confidence. Time will tell at the end of this thing whether or not they are …but I’d take them.”

All that's saying is that Miami-ans are better followers than they are leaders.

Must be the weather. Oh wait. I mean the no-payroll taxes. Yep, that's it. ;)

LOL don't forget they also have no expatriation tax, sales tax or consumption tax. Makes you wonder why players would sign anywhere else!

Ryan Fitzpatrick is everything Trent Edwards was not- a QB that actually THROWS long and stretches the field, and can make Buffalo's passing game look GOOD (the New Englnd Baltimore, and Cincy games).

QB will NOT be a Bills weakness this season.

How much of the Pats starters are playing in the first half ?

Lions Offense moved on them pretty easily the first two possessions, should have had 14 points, they settle for 10.

I know that Jerrod Mayo isn't playing. The Lions look very sharp on both sides of the ball.

BTW, that offensive PI call on Ochocinco was one of the worst calls I've EVER seen......be it preseason, regular season or postseason!

Ya, I saw that too.

Mayo IS in tonight, made the last hit on Stafford.
