If they decide he was a runner till the last second, Harrison will get fined, if they decide that we was a (defenseless qb ...) then he'll get suspended.

So then you agree that regardless whether McCoy is considered a runner or a QB the hit is still illegal?

Sandra

Now if you back up the play a few more frames, you'll see that till the last second, he had NO INTENTION of throwing the ball, thus he was a runner ....
Wrong. Watch the play again. McCoy was still behind the LOS therefore he is still provided protection as a passer. The call made by Ed Hochuli was roughing the passer and under the rules was correct. There was no call on the field about helmet to helmet or defensless runner, etc. We'll see if the league feels further punishment is needed tomorrow...

Mike an Mike blasting the officiating in yesterday's games.

1. The two ridiculous personal foul calls in the Pats-Redskins game (one going each way)

2. The absurd non- face mask call at the end of the Vikings-Lions ame

There was a non call of a face mask in the Pats-Redskins game that would have changed the game.

okay, I really am not trying to argue, but this is wrong, a QB can be outside the pocket and advancing the ball towards the line of scrimmage with the bull tucked in a running positon (which Mccoy had till the last second) and be considered a runner, The LOS dosent have to be crossed to be considered a runner..The reason they called roughing the passer was because he threw the ball at the last second as Harrison started his tackle form and the lowering of the head. Now my question is this, can James Harrison appeal the suspension if he gets one and try and still play on Monday night and then serve it during the St. Louis and browns games?

From Schefter: The NFL is considering suspending Steelers LB James Harrison 1 or 2 games for his helmet to helmet hit on Browns QB, Colt McCoy.

Well there you go. They NFL wouldn't be contemplating suspensions on legal plays. This clearly was illegal.

i agree. its a tough decision. personally i would just slap him with a higher fine.

Sorry, but that may have been true back in the good ol' days of Bradshaw and Staubach, but not today.

The rule clearly states this:

No defensive player may run into a passer of a legal forward pass after the ball has left his hand (15 yards). The Referee must determine whether opponent had a reasonable chance to stop his momentum during an attempt to block the pass or tackle the passer while he still had the ball.
McCoy was behind the LOS so he was still a passer. Being behind the LOS he did throw a legal forward pass and was drilled after throwing that pass.

Anyone see the late hit call on London Fletcher in the Patriots-Redskins game? Questionable call...Brady goes into his slide kinda late, Fletcher hits him hard WHILE he's sliding, and he's called for a late hit. Judgement call...coulda gone either way.

The real point is that Fletcher's hit was a very hard SHOULDER TO SHOULDER hit on Brady. HE DIDN'T LAUNCH THE CROWN OF HIS HELMET INTO BRADY'S HEAD...even though he could have. As much as I hope the Jets somehow find a way to beat Brady this year, I do NOT want him carted off on a stretcher because of a questionably late hit.

Thank goodness that was London Fletcher and not James Harrison. That probably saved Tom Brady's brain, and it also saved us a fifty page 'argument' whether Brady slid too late or not.

see thats where you are wrong...we are all a bunch of A-Holes and it would take a lot more then a fifty page argument, lol :D

Well, apparently you missed Scott's 'we all need to get along' thread. I think one of the rules is that when it's clear neither side will convince the other, the 40-page maximum clause will be invoked!!! :D

Sandra

Brutal stat: Cowboys have blown 4th quarter lead in 8 of 9 losses under Jason Garrett.

Does this make the Denver Broncos the anti Dallas Cowboys?

you don't need to worry about that. but we do :)
those days of 40 page arguments about the same nonsense are over

Very strange article in SI this week about the Patriots' defense. Right from the outset it states that New England has the worst defense in the NFL...or close to the worst, I forget. Then it glorifies Belicheck for using guys like Julian Edelman and some other guys on defense, trying to prove (I think) what an innovative genius Belicheck is.

But...their defense isn't good. They could still win the Super Bowl because of their offense, but at this point it would be in spite of their defense. So basically, moving little receivers to defensive back may not catch on as a trend.

Odd.

Sandra

Do you even understand why i call him savior?

No I do not understand.

Do you call Tebow "savior" because you are mocking his religious faith?

We went to numerous AFC championship games and a superbowl during the Cowher years before Ben, granted Ben has won two superbowls and he is the reason we are who we are but without him we would of probably stayed with the running game.

I'm a big believer that the defense wins championships so the steelers defense, nine times out of ten, is the reason why they win games, the defense is why we won six superbowls and the offense is the reason we lost two.

So, you are calling the Kordell Stewart era the good years?? or those 2 years with Tommy Maddox as QB?? before YOUR savior, Big Ben got there?

Umm...the James Harrison argument will be pushing 40 before you know it! Just sayin'...and 'we' (you and Stuart) are a decent chunk of the 40!!! :D
