2010 NCAA Football Season

BCS standing comment, how in the heck is bama tied for 73rd in the SOS ratings? Yet LSU is 15th and stanford is 16th? (no not a part of the rankings, but who comes up with that????)
Is this a joke'? I would trade schedules with either to this point.
And 12th in the computers?

I know this will all change, but damn.....this is way off.
Rivals.com College Football - BCS standings: OU is No. 1; Bad news for Boise

What top team has bama played and beat? Penn state is a terrible team, Florida lost three in a row, you have the cupcakes only Arkansas is a good team that Bama has beat.

Has nothing to do with win or loss in the schedule it is the schedule itself.
We have played san jose, penn state, duke, ark, fla, s carolina, and Ole Miss.
LSU has had N Carol, Vandy, Miss State, W Virginia, Tenn, Florida, and McNeese State.
Stanford has had Sacramento state, UCLA, Wake Forest, ND, Oregon, and USC.

Tell me how we rank 73rd and they are 15th and 16th?
Like I said, I would trade schedules to this point with either of them.

That's what I'm saying, so far you haven't played anyone that's good except Arkansas. Even South Carolina lost.

I don't know about LSU but Stanford has played better teams so far than Bama.

Really ???

Oregon is the only GOOD team Stanford has played, where are you getting that Stanford has played a much tougher schedule.

USC, ND, UCLA, none of them are any good this year (UCLA may be the best of that group so far) the rest are cup cakes.

For that matter the Buckeyes have played a tougher schedule than Stanford.

Who? And give some reasons why you think so.
They have played Oregon, but who else on the schedule warrants their schedule being ranked 57 slots higher?

We have played Florida, yes they have lost three in a row, all to ranked teams (two ranked in the top ten).
Arkansas on the road, and SC on the road.
So far, that has been one of the toughest three games slates ANYONE has played.

Interesting, most said Wisconsin was no good last week, going into this game.
The Buckeye fans knew better and even mentioned that there was a good chance of losing to them.

Say OU, Oregon, Boise St., TCU, Michigan St., Bama, and Ohio State win out (I think these teams have the best chances at doing so - the Tide should handle Auburn at home and I don't see them having a problem with LSU's sputtering offense). If OU and Bama win out, it may be hard for others to pass them. I don't think anyone else has the schedule to get to 1 & 2. If Oregon continues to win big they may get in, but Boise St. and TCU won't get there with schedules packed with cupcakes/chokers.

Life in the BCS. Gotta love it. :D

You actually think they will take a one loss Bama over a undefeated MSU? I would think that any undefeated BCS conference would be in prior to a one loss team. Now Bama is a much better team IMO than MSU but I am not sure that the BCS would leave MSU out.

Just because South Carolina beat you that doesn't make them a great team.

Stanford has played Oregon, well we know they ARE a great team, they are better than SC and Arkansas. USC, UCLA and ND are always tough games no matter what their rankings are.

I am not saying it does, but their body of work so far holds them up as a very very good team. Of course they did have the letdown against kentucky.

They last part is pure gibberish from a yankee :D. They are tough games no matter the rankings?? What makes them so tough if they are subpar or average? The name? lol

You have to keep in mind that the BCS rankings are a snapshot of how the teams stand at that particular moment, based on polls, wins and strength of the opponent. It's not a predictor of future achievement. The only BCS rankings that count for anything are the final rankings after all the regular season games are played.

OU has a tough game Saturday in Columbia vs Missouri (6-0). If they win, they'll stay #1. If not, Missou will deservedly move into the top 10, and OU will drop just like tOSU.

What hurts the Tide are San Jose (1-6) and Duke (1-5). All other teams you listed could beat these two (Wake Forest has beaten Duke).

But, I'm just as confused as you are. How is the SOS still that far apart, especially between Bama and LSU?

I do not see how our two pull us down so far averaged with the rest, when your two and Stanfords two do not.
Yes, wake beat duke, but it was a competitive game. And I would say that Sacramento State would be close to San Jose, maybe even below them. Hard to call that one.

Hard for me to put the Vandy/McNeese combo much higher either.

My point is, our cupcakes to this point are comparable, the bigger games, well that can be argued.
I do not see why there is such a big gap based on that.

Big whiff this week, Sandra. Looks like OSU-Wisconsin WAS a must-see, as well as a couple of others. and USC-Cal? ho-hum.....

Depends how you look at it. A decent but not good Wisconsin team beating a good but not great Ohio State team? Kinda what I thought, which is why it didn't make my list. As far as Cal-USC, the first half WAS must see. Amazing offensive performance by the Trojans.

The Ohio State excuse machine is probably having a hard time spitting out its results, they will come once the machine starts printing.

Just came back from the excuse machine, let's see what it says...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH The referees robbed us they should not have called pass interference.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH The referees were wearing the same colors as the other team.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH :sob:

Oh wait, sorry, I went to YOUR excuse machine by mistake. You must have left something there by mistake after crying about the Jet game yesterday.

Ohio State? Lost fair and square, against a decent team that is difficult to play against in that stadium at night. It happens, and most Buckeye fans will tell you they were very worried about this game going in.

I agree. Makes no sense.
