2010 NCAA Football Season

Unfortunately the Pac 12 will have a championship game. Hopefully we don't start scheduling cream puffs on an SEC level. Has Florida ever played a non rivalry(meaning FSU/Miami way back when) OOC game on the road? lol

Or has bama. Like va tech, or clemson (both not at home), or penn state (next year there), or mich state on the schedule, or michigan (hopefully) on the schedule, or.....

They played Ohio State in Arizona in 2006 and destroyed them. They went to Miami in 2008 to play Oklahoma and destroyed(hey you didnt say they had to leave the state). then they went to LA to play Cincy and destroyed them.

That of course was only the last few years.
Florida didn't schedule any of those games

Huh? I was guaranteed last week that BSu was gonna be #1 in the ranking?????? WTF is going on? We all know its a conspiracy for those east coast teams.

PS: For anyone who looks at an atlas and says that Oklahoma is not on the east coast, I would just like to ask you, "who are you going to believe - the tin hat crowd or your lying eyes?" :D

LOL!! Only 3 teams from the East Coast on that list! Wow....some "east coast bias" huh?

I think he's talking about regular season games, not Bowl games.

Stanford plays Sacramento State & Notre Dame. Are you counting those two as "real games" or was just one counted? Hell, even Michigan beat ND! Also, better check out the conference to make sure you want to brag about playing all of them. 3-3 against packed schedules is nothing to brag about and looks like most of the PAC10 is 3-3 at this time, at best.

As for Alabama, I for one am glad they are taking one of their playdates for a team that is new this year. As a favor to Bill Curry, UA scheduled Ga State Univ in their first season of having a football team on a NCAA level. The Panthers are doing pretty well against some teams I thought for sure they would have lost to, but the game with Alabama will be something those kids will remember the rest of their lives. BTW, the Ga State vs Alabama game will be on ESPNU-HD for nationwide live broadcast. If Alabama wasn't kind enough to schedule them, they would never make national TV. :D <- Must-See TV

So, this type of game is GREAT if it's the SEC, but if the Big Ten does that, it's terrible and cupcakes that they should never play.

Yeah, the power conferences all get bashed based on some OOC games. Then again we all (well most conferences anyway) play brutal in conference schedules. With a few good OOC games mixed in here or there.
Ga state is not our high mark game for sure, but we did get them on for pretty much the reason that he said. Not that it makes the game any better on the schedule. lol, but I am glad that those kids get the experience of playing in that big game.

right but some teams(Florida) won't schedule certain teams in conference(Auburn). how does that work? why are they able to avoid them for 3 seasons? Tell me the last time that a team in the Pac 10 didn't play a team in the Pac 10. If you are going to bring up 'brutal in conference games', its nice to know that they are too scared to schedule OOC games as well. At some point, you need to prove yourself with REAL road games(not bowl games. Remember Alabama vs Utah a few years ago though?). The Pac 10 has shown no intimidation of scheduling MWC and WAC games, as well as always scheduling Notre Dame, the Big 10, and even the SEC to an extent(although the 'power house' SEC teams are much less inclined to schedule them these days). Remember Auburn vs USC a few years ago AT Auburn? Or better yet, Tennessee(a bad team I know, but they play in the SEC, so they must be capable of something!) losing at home to Oregon and UCLA the past two years and UCLA on the road when they were ranked three years ago.

I'm glad they are playing Bama and I wish Ga State all the best .... Great to see Coach doing what he loves to do !!!!

It all works on a rotating basis as far as teams playing the others in the same conference.
The Big Ten will experience something like that starting next year.

You have one or two teams that are guaranteed to be on your schedule every year.

The SEC, and some other conferences, play everyone in their division, then they have one permanent other division opponent. They rotate two others from the other division in and out. It has been that way since they went to a championship format (well tweaks here and there, but basically). They are not ducking any conference games. Florida is is not "not" scheduling Auburn, they simply rolled Alabama (and another one) onto their schedule this year.
Would not surprise me for the PAC 10 to go to a similar setup when the new teams join the conference.

Like I said, We (bama) have been scheduling those types of games and have faired quite well in them so far. An alternate site game with Clemson and Va tech, we both know how those turned out.
A home and home with Penn State (won the first easily). An upcoming home and home with Mich State. A dallas game against Michigan. No, we dont have any games against true power conference teams from the MWC and the WAC (really?????), but I think our OOC scheduling speaks for itself.

Arkansas and Texas AM. Alabama and Penn State.
Then the ones you mentioned.
Pretty big names in college football scheduled by the SEC this year, I do not expect them to win them all, but they generally give a good showing for the conference overall.

Jimbo,

NOW you are learning! :D Seriously, got a booklet from the Alumni Assn (did a MBA there while busy in Grad school at another school) and read that Ga State had managed to schedule Alabama in their 1st season and was thinking that a family friend was probably spinning in his grave as he was the president of the Alabama Alumni Assn and he absolutely hated anything GA. When he found out that I was going to grad school in GA rather than at Alabama, he almost died and seriously asked why I would want to be around "those people." hehehe

Nice try Smith, but this lame attempt to discredit the SEC is always used by the envious no matter how you try to explain it to them. As if any team deliberately would duck another in the conference. Funny stuff there.

And yes, the Big10 and PAC10 will more than likely have to do the same if they want to schedule any OOC games.

BAZINGA!

Why is OU #1 in the BCS this week?

1. They're 6-0.
2. They beat Texas.
3. They beat FSU (5-1) in out of conference play.
4. They don't play any FCS teams out of conference.
