What is the benefit of Record Plus???

I have read the manual and searched the forums I cannot figure out what the advantage to the Record Plus feature on a DVR625 is. The manual does not really explain what it is. Does the Record Plus only apply when you are currently watching a show on TV1 and want to record that to TV2? It does not seem that the Record Plus does anything for future scheduled recorded events? Also, if I schedule a future show while using TV2 I think it gets scheduled to record on TV2….is there a way to change it to record on TV1?

Sorry, but I have been using TIVO for the last few years and I think I am just confused by the different terminology, plus I am not too impressed with the Users Guide.

I can't completely agree with you about the Manual's clarity. RP with TV2 default assumes that TV1 is your main/most viewed TV, and records on TV2 so as not to interrupt viewing. You can of course disable it, then set a recording from whichever TV you want. Also, if TV2 detects a conflict with a previously scheduled event, it will assign it to TV1.

KAB explained it very well.

I can't see any reason why you'd want something to record on TV1 (typically the 'main' TV) except when you want to watch something 'live' on TV2.

Ok, I guess I didn't understand that from the manual. This might get confusing.... So if I have RP active and set up to record on TV2 and someone is watching TV2, but not TV1, will it switch a scheduled event to record on TV1 or is that just for scheduling conflicts?

If someone is watching TV2 when a timer is ready to fire, it will "warn" them and if they do nothing, it will change channels and begin recording. They'll have to watch what's being recorded, watch something pre-recorded, or cancel the recording. Cancelling it will NOT kick it over to TV1, even if TV1 is not in use.
