Video Game Deals

The next Humble Bundle looks to be a DOOZY.. WB Games is part of it, and now you can pay what you want for Batman: AA and AC, FEAR 2 & 3, Scribblenauts Unlimited, and LOTR: War in the North. It should go live at around 2pm EST today. Figures when I have Batman: AO I get the two really GOOD Batman games available. Don't get me wrong, AO isn't BAD, but it really doesn't compare to the originals. Just because it has the same engine doesn't mean it has the same design and nuance. I'll give a review later.

I picked this up for $5. I'm glad I didn't buy the FEAR bundle during the Halloween sale now. I almost bought Arkham Asylum GOTY and Arkham City GOTY a while back but passed because I already played the base games on PS3. The $5 was worth it just to get all the Arkham DLC and I am looking forward to another playthrough with PC graphics. This is maybe my favorite humble bundle since I started paying attention to them. I have at least a passing interest in every single game that is included. I kind of wish they would have thrown FEAR 1 in too though.

Now if I can just pick up Arkham Origns for at least 50% off during the steam holiday sale I will be a happy man.

I paid $5 too. I'm DLing Batman: AA as we speak, and honestly I'm thinking of just returning Batman: AO in the meantime. Now that I have AA and AC, what's the point of playing AO when I have the 2 arguably superior games? I mean, if I have all the Terminator movies in front of me to watch, I'm not going to watch 3 or 4 over the Cameron/original series of 1 & 2. Also, it has been painfully determined that AO isn't REALLY an "origins" story. Such a thing would have been cool, especially if it really DID take place before AA and AC in say, the 1990s, and Batman's technology and such was more antiquated and you had to compensate as a result. Instead, all of Batman's gadgets and everything else are like those today, which puts the game in some sort of weird time paradox.

With Call of Duty 10 (yes, technically we're up to 10 now) being released, StackSocial apparently has decided to celebrate by having a sale on CoD 4: Modern Warfare for the PC for $5. I picked one up myself. Just a FYI, even though it says it's the MAC version, it's a SteamPlay game, which means that 1 key unlocks all the versions (in case we didn't have enough reasons to love Steam.)

Too bad you didn't pick it up on the PS3 originally as they would have given you a Steam code for the PC version.

I knew about that deal but at the time I didn't play any PC games so that didn't factor into my decision.

Steam is having a sale on Devolver games. Not a great sale, but some good games like the Serious Sam games (unless of course, you picked them up at the Humble Bundle a while back) and Hotline: Miami are on sale. If I can get the new Shadow Warrior for about 50% off (which sadly probably won't happen because I don't think they're rotating deals like they did with the Capcom sale recently) I'll be all over that.

I have thought about picking one of these up for a while now. Then I think, "Does a grown man really need two handhelds?" I already have more Vita games backlogged than I will have time to play on the go. On the other hand, the 3DS XL is the perfect platform for Nintendo first party games. With all the other choices available at home I think I have grown out of all the Nintendo franchises. Putting those experiences into short bursts I can play on the go with the sound off would be pretty nice though.

Either way, I highly doubt I will be fighting the crowds at Target on Black Friday. If Amazon has a similar deal I might pick one up though. I got my Vita that way on Black Friday last year.

Speaking of which, Radioshack is clearing their old stock of WiFi-only Vitas for $160 this week. The 3G/Wifi was going for the same price, but they seem to have sold out already.

Free Saints Row 4 DLC, the "Thank You Pack." Not much, just a costume pack from what I can tell. Apparently a bad patch was released or something and now this is some sort of penance.

When I tried to google the possible bad patch, I got this, and no Google, I did NOT mean that..

Update: Apparently this is a jab at Rockstar, making fun of them for releasing the Stimulus Package after the disastrous launch of GTA:Online to make up for it. At least that seems to be the general consensus over at Reddit..

GoG is having a sort of "Woot Off!" sale where they put a game on sale, but in limited quantities. So you need to be paying attention if you want to pick up something. So far the deals are decent, although nothing I've jumped on. May be worth a look for some good deals on DRM free stuff.

Oh, and every once in a while they'll throw on a game for free, but if you can actually get one of them, you deserve a medal. Literally by the time your brain sends the signal to your finger to click "Buy Now" the game is already sold out.

Apparently they heard you. Check your bundle package.
